Description
From Viz:
Being a teenage martial artist isn't easy, especially for Ranma Saotome, who went through a major transformation on a training mission with his father. After an accidental dunk into a legendary cursed spring in China, Ranma now changes into a girl every time he's splashed with cold water. That would be enough to complicate anyone's life, even without the arranged fiancée who doesn't like him (or says she doesn't) and the constant stream of rivals and suitors for both his male and female forms. What's a half-guy, half-girl to do?

...I can say no more than what has already been said.

The comments before said it all. A classic. Delightfully funny. A gateway manga for many, including myself. It's only bad points are the occasional repetitiveness and lack of powerful/suspenseful underlying plot. And yet despite it's seeming bad qualities, people still love it, long after it has ended. Rumiko's art and storytelling at it's best. And so, I give the conclusion that it is a must-read, even for you dark types. Everyone needs a little comedy in their life.

This was actually the first manga I ever read!
I still adore this series, five or so years later. It's alot of what I look for in a manga- it's light, funny, and the artwork doesn't make your eyes bleed. It's not to be taken too seriously, which is a really nice trait one can find in manga and anime.

A Classic.

If you haven't read Ranma yet, perhaps you should. Typical of a Takahashi Rumiko work, it suffers from extended plot syndrome, which could have been more or less shortened, but due to it's comical nature, it doesn't suffer as much as any other manga would. Hilarious, Takahashi's art style and comical approach will leave you in tears of mirth. The only thing you can expect from this manga, is the crazy hilarity and unexpectedness. A gem and a classic, a must read.

This is a great series. It never gets totally stereotypical, the character evolve, and it's very light-hearted. Ranma 1/2 is a great series to pick up on a lazy day, and because of it's episodic nature, you don't have to rigidly stick to order. this is funny and cute and very lovable, and its lack of plot contributes to those factors. IMO, the number of LOL moments and hilarious characters have made this series timeless.
If you're feeling down, just pick up this book - it'll have you smiling in no time. The only reason I gave it a 9 is because with so many volumes, the repetitiveness can get to you.

Ranma 1/2 is...

...a timeless manga that was probably a gateway comic for many of us. Though I agree that Ranma 1/2 lacks a stable plot and may sometimes feel repetitive, one of the good qualities I always found about this manga is that you can pick up any volume to read and not get too lost due to its episodic nature. It's also easy to like Takahashi's characters - all of them have their own quirks without falling into overly-stereotypical roles. I think it's also important to remember that Ranma 1/2 was an extremely innovative series for its time, and even to this day has very original qualities. I recommend this comic for anyone who just wants a lighthearted, enjoyable read, and who can use a smile.

If I could, I would give this manga an eleven. It has a large spot in my heart.

Couldn't get to like this manga, no matter how many times I read it. I guess it's because I go more for plot or even plenty of variety than just repetitive scenarios and never-ending conclusions.

This is a really great manga, but it gets kinda repetitive at times, especially with it's length.

One of the Best

This was the first manga series I was ever introduced to (as well as the first anime), and it remains my favorite to this day, nearly eight years later. The characters are ridiculous and hilarious, and the lack of plot throughout the book only allows the story to be smoother. I gave this a 10, but I would have given it a 10.5 had I been given the chance. My rating for Inuyasha (by the same author, of course) a 9.8, but Ranma 1/2 still blows it out of the water for sheer enjoyability, which should tell you how great this series is.
