Pandora's Box led a cursed existence. Through the curiosity of a woman, evil was unleashed and very nearly covered the world in darkness. Violinist of Hameln has crazy comedy but at the same time there are many tragic and heartwarming moments as well. I didn't expect any storyline at first but it soons turn out to have quite a deep plot and the characters are developed well. This is a classic and a must read

I was just in the first page when I started to think about deleting whatever I have of it here. For me, a person who's picky about art, I had a really hard time getting through the first chapter. I might have liked the story, but it was so old-school that I can't stand it. I guess I'm just not used to it. I didn't push myself on reading it.
I didn't give this a rating because I didn't get a chance to get the story, so if I rate it, I might become biased against it because of the art. I only rate stuff when I get their story.
For those who want to read this, you'd better appreciate old-style manga art. If you get used to it, then have fun.

People need to shut up about this manga being silly and whatnot especially when they've only read the first volume. There is a story to this series and it isn't sugar-coated happiness all the way. There is bitterness, there is hatred, there is brutality, and there is the ever-constant aspect of death.
The anime actually took most of the dramatic aspects of this series and made a spectacularly dramatic story out of it. So I'd recommend that people go watch the anime if they haven't.

Some jokes are pretty offensive, but i think overall this manga is great. Love the story, plot, arts and of course, the comedy in it.

The start was "a bit" weird but gets better soon, the art is rather unique and maybe you'll need some time to accustom to it, still its pretty good. (tho I like other "styles" more).
The humor is pretty hilarious, but some jokes get repetitive, still a solid 8/10 maybe a bit more.

this is a great manga to read for anyone who loves to laugh. the story is great at integrating completely idiotic humor into what could almost be considered a serious story line so go read it and you won't be dissapointed. its truly a uique story too; it takes all the archetypes, stomps on them, stirrs them up and serves them with a side of french fries and it actually comes together very nicely.

One of the few that is serious, funny, wacky, and amazing at the same time! Very unique in its own way, although it may take a while for people to like the art.
This is a prime example of a manga that shouldn't be judged by its initial volumes. (and it's even better if you totally loved the first)

Don't listen to the people who have rated it low. They haven't read the chapters past the beginning. Yes, the manga starts out slow and the jokes aren't great. But past the first volume, the series really kicks in and the further you go, the more inseperable you become. I have never come across such an original series.
The plot summary may seem like it's just another manga, but it's not. The way the series is delivered makes it different, especially how no matter how serious or depressing the subject gets, every chapter has comedy relief. Always.
