I never got past the Dark Tournament last time I was watching the anime and reading the manga... But just recently, I finished the manga. Coming back to finish the manga means a lot to me because it's what started my whole drawing/art inspiration!
The manga is extremely good though, I gave it a slightly lower rating for the poor ending; it was still satisfying but the ending kind of dragged and i was really just skipping the last few chapters. I didn't appreciate that instead of displaying the actual tournament with the strongest fighters all the way to the final chapter...

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Yusuke comes back to the Human World almost two years later and gives a very brief and vague "A lost to B, and C beat B but lost to D" kind info to Kuwabara. And then the mangaka ends it with a last-minute didn't-think-it-through problem in putting the Human World in danger which lasted half of one chapter when the Demon Tournament could've been the best ending!!
So you can all tell, I'm very disappointed in the ending and absolutely wish that the Demon Tournament could have taken the rest of the manga. But I feel like that tournament was made irrelevant because it's been cut short, almost as if Yusuke meeting Raizen wasn't a big deal.Think about it! All this time...
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
We never knew Yuusuke was a demon until his demon powers sparked in his fight with Sensui. And after the fight, he wants to go back to the Demon World. He wanted to find out about his powers; he didn't feel right being in the human world. Then BLAMMO--after Raizen dies, he calls for a tournament, which most of it didn't even come through, and then leaves back to the Human World.
I'm still a little bitter but for the most part, even if it doesn't seem like it, I loved the manga. I especially love the Sensui arc. Recommended! Good reading!... Last updated on February 26th, 2015, 7:03am

Personally, I enjoyed this more than HxH. Just wanted to say that since people are saying that HxH is such a masterpiece. Reading HxH was like a chore and I felt like I was forcing myself to read it.
Well, I know that YYH isn't the greatest but i thoroughly enjoyed it.

I STRONGLY DISAGREE with kazesages.. how there you say such bad word to Togashi Yoshihiro sensei..his drawing may not be perfect but the story is great .. i pity you because you can't distinguish between rock and diamond.
( THIS IS TRUE)
in my country when u ask them about YUYU HAKUSHO they'll say "it's a Legend"

I kind of think it's funny that there are so many that like HxH more than YYH. To be honest I got bored of HxH. The action was good but Gon was a bit to much of a stereotypical shounen hero and seemed to me like a Goku knock off. Not that I didn't like it, just I liked YYH characters more. Though I will agree that the Anime is better than the Manga.

dont bitch about the art work, hes doing the best he can. Hes terminally ill and still continues Hunter x Hunter, and if you really think he doesnt care then consider yourself extremly sick and about to die, but continueing to devote yourself to your job,
and i love the art work and the story, best mangaka ever

i enjoyed reading this series, ive been a fan since i was younger and saw the show on television and when i saw it had been scanlated i read it from begining to end.
It's a little boring at first with that whole detective arc but it quickly picks up the pace and becomes an all out fighting manga.
My only real complaint is the way the mangaka chose to end the series, it just sort of ends and then has five filler chapters. (possible spoilers) At least in the anime you got to see the epic fight with the main protagonist, in the manga you just get a summation of how the second half of the tournament ends and a quick glimpse of the fight.
Im sorry if I'm a little critical but when I decided to read this manga I was looking for a more conclusive ending than the anime had given me and instead was given an ending that lacked a real conclusion.
I'd say this is one of the rare few times I'd say the anime was a little better than the manga.

I disagree with kazesages, whom made this manga sound so horrible.
This manga is not as bad as kazesages made it sound. Ok, true, the art skill decreased later in the volumes (just like for HxH), but kazesages made it sound like we (the fans) just need to read and get satisfied with the stories, and not consider the mangaka/creator of the story. If kazesages actually purchased the manga and said all that, then it would be understandably, but i highly doubt that.
All in all, not as good as HxH. Read this before reading HxH since it would be hard to read HxH and then this (considering you would compare the 2).
HxH = 10+ Masterpiece
YYH = 7 Still good to watch

The beginning volumes were great but the later one are shits. This is one manga you dont want to get yourself into because if you do, you're setting yourseft for a huge disappointment

Strongly agreed with Deva. If you've read HxH before this, stick with it, HxH is the best shounen ever, and this really pales in comparasion. Though it is still enjoyable on its own, I found it hard to read it while there are masterpieces like HxH about.
In fact I am about to reread this because I really wasnt fair the first time around..

I remembered very long time ago, 12-13 years, I enjoyed playing YYH game everyday on SNES. And the manga is damn good.
Kurama in the youkai form looks so cool. Read it, or u will regret for the whole life.
