...in terms of yaoi manga, that is.
- The artwork takes a little getting used to, because it's inconsistent and generally goes from semi-cute(-ish) to downright gonk sometimes. I agree with some of the other commenters on how it seems like the mangaka is trying to get away with the least amount of work possible, because the backgrounds tend to be very plain and/or simplistic. Sometimes, there's no background at all - just a lazy tone meant to set off the plain white. This is getting better as the manga goes on, but then it starts suffering from lack of directionality due to a large amount of details. On the other hand, some of the character design is more complicated than it needs to be, and sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between one character to another before conversation starts.
- The plot itself is interesting, but it easily gets lost in the myriad of details that flood the chapters. This is especially true in the first volume (when they introduce madararui), and when they introduce the madarame family and/or friends. I guess I belong to a sect of readers that doesn't mind it when new characters and backstories pop up within the main plot line, but the mangaka should have really planned out the introductions better. While I liked Shima's and that bat-dude's stories, I did kind of wonder why their backstory was introduced before their present-day entrance (or in the case of bat-dude, came right on top of it). It would have flowed easier if their backstories came as side-stories first instead of stealing the spotlight from the main plot. And then, of course, there's the incessant need to refer to a chart of some sort in order to realize the relationships between all the characters. It's too complicated too soon. I admire Tarako-sensei's ambitious world-building, but the general flow of plot gets distorted with too much in a short amount of time. I literally fazed out when they were explaining how a male gets pregnant with the bear dude (worm? parasite?) and that affected how I read later.
- Half the time I was reading, I was convinced that part of the chapters were missing because the plot skips so many important little details. Shima's & Hiromasa's story? Where the crap did the "possessed by the devil" worm condom come in? You think you would at least see a piece of that story SOMEWHERE, but no, it just comes in like a last-minute addition - which is really annoying. All in all, too many mysteries, not enough details in the right places, too much in others, and rather lazy artwork. Still, I liked Love/Sex Pistols, so I'll probably keep reading.

Stay off this manga

1. Started off good, it had a so-so type of art and it had real potential with a good dose of comedy.
2. Went off tangent. WTH, the author should have been focusing on the main characters but instead introduced us to this bloody messed up family, and a father is actually a woman and a mother can be a man it was too confusing.
3. I do not want to know about everyone's love life in this manga. Seriously. NO. I do not need to know about Norio's lover's father's relationship, Norio's lover's mother's relationship (before meeting the current lover), do not want to know the love life of Norio's lover's brother's parents (before meeting and after meeting each other and how they had this shitty affair), do not want to know each of Norio's lover's siblings' love life. No, really, I don't.
4. It became disturbing. The whole family is messed up I tell you.
5. How is it relevant to the main story where we have to read this bloody love life of an arabian man who kidnaps his lover to this country and slaps him when his lover scolded him? No relevance whatsoever. Then suddenly every one comes together for this christmas party. WOW.
6. Art became worse. It should be a horror story manga, instead of yaoi. What attracts girls to read yaoi are the plot and art. Plot was already shitty, and the art, WTF. As I said, it was average in the beginning, then the author slacked off. Too lazy to draw proper eyes? Easy peasy, just colour them black like demons. Should this guy have beard? Not sure, let's give him beard for these two pages then take the beard off for the next two pages and repeat. Lazy in drawing the hair of characters? Whatever, let's not care about the hair and let's just draw a few strokes of lines. That's hair. To top it all off, everything lacks detail.
7. Norio is supposed to be some high class breed. Ok goody. What should Norio do when he meets an enemy? Hmm, not sure, but since he's some high class breed lets give him some super power by having these lazer beam eyes, just one go will do. Wow, what a way to solve a problem in this manga.
8. 7 volumes on, and Norio's lover finally decides that he actually likes Norio and does not look at him as a breeding machine. It took THAT long to come to this. WHY? Because the author wanted us to be grossed out by everyone's love life. We'll never get to see the end of this manga at this stage.
9. Norio is now always feeling insecure, and really, why read a character who does not worth your time?
10. Sorry I even read this manga, I can accept rape, BDSM, and semes who treat their uke like crap but not this one. Art is bad, plot is worse. What's with these muscular men hugging each other and acting like drag queens? Nah, I'm not prepared for this.

Good plots.
1st yaoi manga I read that contain mpregm because usually mpreg is fanfiction's area.

1st look at the art, it's kind of weird, but as you read it...it kinda grown on you. except for the female character (they always look a bit like a drag queen imo).

what I really don't like is, there's way too much spin offs. sometimes took whole volume. I wouldn't mind it so much if the main characters plot was all wrapped up like 'Ze'

but now, I have a little to none hope that I'll get to the part where norio and kunimasa get married sad

Try it

It was a decent yaoi. I fail to see how it is original though. Well, the animal hierarchy idea offers something different but male pregnancy has actually become pretty common these days (at least in fantasy or supernatural stories). The couples are stereotypical (strong, silent seme vs weak and small uke, romeoxjuliet, foreign royalty and commoner, etc...) and so is their personalities. The society somewhat approves of multiple relationships but the characters are all monogamously minded so it didn't really work. Like...

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Kunimasa had a girlfriend while he was pursuing Norio. He thought it'd be fine to have both but his girlfriend and Norio disagreed and made him pick one. Same goes for Seth, Salam, and Waka. Seth is Saudi Arabia royalty so it was okay for him to have many wives but Salam (first wife) hated the idea. He agreed because he wanted Seth happy but if he was really that against it, he should have just denied Seth's request. I don't even understand why they married. In the beginning, it was an arranged marriage to stabilize Seth's right to reign but when they meet two years later, the situation is still unstable. Seth said he loved Salam but if Waka was on his mind all the time, he really didn't. So really, Salam was useless
.

That said, I really did enjoy the secondary couples, minus the mermaid story. Good characters, diverse ways of getting together, and happy outcomes. The main couple was entertaining in the beginning but as the volumes increased, they became unremarkable. Especially when Norio is around Kunimasa's younger brother, who has the most annoying brother complex. I don't mind Norio's character alone but together, him and the younger brother start acting like kindergarten children. And not in the comedic way.

Overall, it's worth a try though. Just keep in mind that it's licensed and when you get to the last chapter, that's all you are gonna get unless you buy it.The scanlators are obeying the copyright law and will no longer release chapters.

I really enjoyed it! The art is a bit iffy, but the characters and plot are great, so it's easier to get over the weird-ass anatomy.
The big downside of this manga is that it NEVER UPDATES. QAQ

I love it. It's one of my favourite yaoi series out there. I kept checking up for update on this series since the last chapter (41/42) but unfortunately it seems that it is no longer scanlated/ on hiatus (?). ;;-;; I don't really care for the story about the mermaid though, I just hope the story will continue to focus on the main pairing. I really like that pair, hopefully they will reach the next level soon.

Some affairs did hurt my feelings though, but I like most of the pairing, even the yuri pair. Though I dislike Kunimasa's mother who kept cheating on Tokashiki Karen. The family tree is very mess up and complicated too, but at least the characters are lovable.

I miss the main pairing. \;;A;;/

... to keep track of the pairings and relationships. Fortunately, there are a few conveniently located throughout, plus charts and graphs of 'madararui' (animals which have evolved into humans) and their different categories. Tarato-sensei's 'animal spirit within'-themed manga is about the primal urge to find the perfect 'bride' to perpetuate the species, so there's a lot of loose sex, family-arranged mating, and artificial vagina talk (which I found very interesting!). But the story is also about using instincts to find the soul's mate. Some stories are highly comedic (Kunimasa and Norio) ... some very touching (Habu and Mongoose) ... deeply erotic (Yonekuni and Shiro; my favorite). And some (a confusing one with the Mermaid) get a bit strange. I didn't find the art to be a turn-off; it is very stylized and distorted, but this is a character-driven manga so it works well. My best advice is to go with the flow! This is one of my top 5 manga and certainly the most startlingly original.

I fell in love with this yaoi at the beginning, their relationships are so cute and the animal thing is awesome. All the couple have different kind of love and some of it is little twisted. The family tree is weird but that makes it unique.
I would give it a 10 but I lost interest after vol 5 with the bat and eagle story. I hate cheating, and I dont like the vagina concept. I read yaoi so I dont see that. And I couldnt care less about the lesbian story (not a fan of Makio). After that, just broken stories. The mermaid was a disappointment. The rarest, strongest creature turns out to be a stark-naked anorexic kid. Hes creepy, bratty and arrogant. The art change is also horrible.
Cant wait for the main couple to have sex. Its taking forever and they're not even 2nd base. At the same time, I dont want to see their sex scenes with art like this T.T
The title has nothing to do with the story. Not enough sex.

I AM A NUMBER 1 FAN OF THIS MANGA

This has to be a manga in my top 5! Every time I re-read this manga( because it's just that awesome) I fall in love with it all over again. I can't help but die a little inside when I see Norio and Kunimasa together, they are beyond cute!

This manga has all the tribulations of love with a little animal twist. My heart not only aches when I read it, one time I almost fell off my chair in shock. This is defiantly not like other yaoi ( and I read a lot of yaoi)
- The art is different
- The characters will have you in tears, both good and bad ways
- The story line(plot) is a 10 out of 10 for me
- AND ABOVE ALL IT IS WONDERFUL

* But I really hate the lack of translations... WHY YOU NO TRANSLATE!!! I will learn Japanese just to read the ending, don't test me!

" This the moment I meet with Madarame Kunimasa, the man who will become my husband."

This line in the first chapter really hit me!!!!!!! The part that Norio accidentally bumped into Kunimasa by falling on the stairs in the train station...
What in the million chance would you encounter your soulmate or your fated one?
Norio and Kunimasa are perfect for each other...

Please translate the remaining chapters..
I really want to know how their relationship progressed...
