Description
Koizumi Shintarou is 30 years old, a virgin, and has isolated himself in his room for 15 years. He has become a burden on his father, Koizumi Yasujirou. One day, Shintarou makes a proposition that if Yasujirou gets a girlfriend, Shintarou will come out of his room. It turns out that Yasujirou has already made a girlfriend, a young beautiful woman, Yoshinaga Haruka, who is with Yasujirou for her own personal reasons. Yasujirou and Haruka decide to get married, but Yasujirou dies on their honeymoon. Now Haruka decides to take care of Shintarou, and so this weird "mother and son" are now livin...

Shintarou found a diary of his father and realized that he needed to changed. 6 years later, he changed into a normal guy. He seem to be married to another woman, and had a child. Haruka came to visit and told his wife to take care of him, and in the end, Shintarou, ran to Haruka and yelled out "Thank you, mother" to her. In conclusion, the two didn't end up together but Shintarou changed into a normal guy.
It's good, but could have been a WHOLE lot better.
What SHOULD HAVE happened:

Haruka and Shintarou's dad never got married, but Haruka still loves him. They go out together, and visited Shin. Shin falls in love with her, and confesses countless amount of times, but Haruka rejects because she's in love with his father. But Shin doesn't give up, and Haruka started falling for him. He changed solely for her, cut his hair, shaved his beard, throw away his manga, and locked away his computer (it must be really, really difficult!) and they live happily ever after. It ends with Haruka carrying Shin's child. Oh, and in this story, Shin is not 30 years old, but only 23, and Haruka is 20! I mean, who locks themselves up for 15 years? Honestly.

A nice touching ending i guess. But all i can say is that, a girl like this made some unrealistic choices. 1. She gets married to an old man that really has nothing going for him and is also a failure as a father. 2. She still gets married to the old man knowing that he has cancer and is going to die soon. 3. She falls in love with a dude who locked himself in his own room. Seriously, the dude has nothing going for him in his life. How is it possible that a girl like that can fall in love with guys like these. Guess this girl is into failures.

as expected by oku hiroya... the artwork is awesome..... the story isnt considered the best but the lesson it gave (the last chapter especially) is awesome.... i mean.... the whole thing pretty much is only average and very fast paced... but then after she left.... the last chapter... he got back on his feet..... very nice.....
ps.... this manga have 1 thing that always confuse me... how did his mom die?.... i mean.... that dude said its his dad's fault..... so what bascially happened?...

Damn strange manga. It would have been best if Dad died before marriage n made haruka promise to look after shin. Then she didnt need to leave n we could have enjoyed a fitting end for romantic manga (from my point of view).
Strange manga. She didnt have to leave. Love can change anyone. She could have changed him even without leaving. But if that happened then shin would have ended up with her. Which would have been strangest ending. but the manga was strange to begin with. Coz I have never heard anyone to marry someone because he looks like his father. Moreover he's 40 years older than her.

the whole story is about a guy staying inside his room for 15 years after the death of his mom.
sum: the new mom tries to help him in the first 2 vols in her own way but ended up doing the same thing his father was doing, basically enabling him to become dependent on her while doing the same thing over n over again. the professional hinted that she must cut him loose to help him help himself. vol 3 was all about her making a good last memory for her and him.
ending: he is the guy talking to the homeless old man. the woman that told him about a girl saying to take good care of him is his wife, the kid at the end is probably his. basically, he is leading a good life only a few years after she left him ( you can tell how many years judging by the size of the kid calling him dad).
that is the ending. I wish the ending was that they got back together!!! I kinda wish for that, but oh well, it was still a good ending.

I understand the moral of the story but I am utterly clueless about the ending. If anyone is willing to explain it to me I will be very grateful.

im at the beginning and im ahting this right now...it totally sucks...you think she likes you? How the flying fuck did you come up with that conclusion? Did you forget she married your dad? retarded...Id be embarassed if i were him...i dont know what kind of relationship is going to build but at this rate hes gonna be a loser forever...atleast find another girl...HE MAKES ME MAD....why is he so desperate....

update- I skipped 2 chapters in the second volume cuz i couldnt find it and when i check..something outrageous happened...I stop here! She changed her mind all of a sudden maybe? LMAO! FAIL! Gantz is a different genre but the quality is way betetr than this..it could have been more interesting though.

Well, the story begins quite slowly. Not too much happens in several chapters at the start. It gets better though. It's interesting, but the whole relationship between Haruka and Shintarou was too... weird. Romance? Not really. Just a guy clinging to whatever he can reach. Ending was alright I guess, but it could have been better portrayed. The final few chapter... Definitely rushed.
Personally, the story itself wasn't something I'm too interested in for whatever reason. It just seemed too serious and mature, not that I have any issues reading those types of genres, but in this case I did for some reason.

Utter failure. I guess u can find the ending touching but it was rather quaint and rushed in my opinion. I also thought the story didn't flow as well as it could have. volume three was a train wreck, whether it was because the translations were bad or it was actually the authors fault for getting lazy, it was confusing in a lot of places. I picked up the japanese volume to read and trust me, its not a culture barrier or anything like that that made the ending difficult.... it was just poorly written and executed -_-.
