Cute but...kind of disturbing?

If you don't read into it AT ALL this is a pretty cute series, and I wont lie, I did enjoyed it. However, the age gap is slightly disturbing to me. She's 15 and he's 7. Even if his body does transform into that of a 17 year old in the dark...he's still 7. I mean I get how she's lonely and likes having him around and I could even see a companionship kind of love that gets confused when his body looks older, but it still seems wrong if you think about it at all. I don't know how you fall in love with someone who is mentally 7 when you're 15. I mean, it wouldn't matter as much at the end when he's 17 and she's 24, but 7/15 is a bit much. So yeah, I guess it just surprises me that no one else seems to be upset by this? Wouldn't something like this count as shoutacon?

That aside, it is really cute. The feelings don't really seem forced, and I liked all the characters. The plot was fairly original. Nothing too deep, but a cute shoujo series. The ending/last volume felt a bit all over the place though. So I guess if the age thing wont bother you, I'd suggest it.

This is a good shojo, with a funny plot and nice characters. It's not original and it lacks depth, but it's still good for those who want to enjoy a shojo with love stories and typical shoujo clichés. The strong point is the art: the drawings are amazing, really. Incredibly good for a shojo. Everything else is just mediocre.

I read this series a long long time ago, much before Vampire Knight.
The story develops very well, even with just 4 volumes. The art is clean and gorgeous.
In fact, Matsuri Hino is very talented as a mangaka; the plot, the dialogue, the artwork, everything fits perfectly.
So the reason I give it 10 is not because I'm a Vampire Knight fan.
Matsuri Hino-sensei had specified that she wanted to write more about a twist about Nakaoji, but no space was left. **what a sad thing sad

If you're like me who likes cute/sweet/romantic comedy manga (especially cute, sweet, fantasy, and romantic), then you'll really like it.
But if you're not into this type, then you wouldn't even care to read it.
This story is very different from Vampire Knight. Anyway, just because you don't like vampire story or 'Twilight', it doesn't mean should go against Hino Matsuri's manga or Vampire Knight. All her works are great.

By the way, in the story where the age difference between Airi and Aram is specified:
Aram became 17.
Airi said: "I'm 20 *cough* years old, is that all right?"
REASONING: it's not because she's 20! She is 20*cough* -->
the "cough" has omitted the last number --> age: 20 something --> age: 2x
So, the age difference is not 3.

One of the few series that an older girl gets together with a younger guy. I'm a fan of those because for some reason, they are always better written than the younger girl/older guy series. Maybe I haven't come across a bad one yet?

Hino's art is beautiful as always. Out of all her series so far, this is the best one.

Seriously

Overall I thought this was one of those unfound gems. The plot line seems original to me, as it's still in the 21st century, yet has twists of old prophecies and grudges. It's not a huge series, but it's one that's worth reading again and again. No, I'm not a Vampire Knight fan. One part of this just really made me start crying.
The art isn't heavily influenced by gothic style like Vampire Knight, but still has Matsuri's signature everywhere. Depth lacked at some parts, and sometimes the eyes get too huge for my taste, especially on the covers. It's definitely cute.

The plot line starts out somewhat confused, due to the main character's "culture shock," you can call it. It soon developed to it's full context further on.

The characters are simple to understand... but I find that if they had changed too much, as you'd want one too in a normal novel, the way the story would have meant to someone would have changed. You wouldn't have been able to really feel the story.

I would recommend this to someone in search of a fantasy hopeless romantic. I cried, and it wasn't even the end, so I'd expect someone else is probably as pathetic as me? Or at least I hope so!

Spoiler (highlight to view)
I don't get it...In the beginning she went to high school right so she was 16 or something? They later on mentioned that Aram was seven (I must be mistaken, he looked older) And In the end when *spoil* Aram was 17 they married an Airi said she was 20. But if they only had a three years age gap, how could she have like big boobs while he was as high as her waist?

A good story with so many cutie moments. I've already fell in love with it ^^
Content, art, characters - all are good, but I found the ending a little bit fast and simple. Just want to read more~ ^^

I loved it. Every bit of it! It was really cute, the characters were awesome, and the ending was just how I wanted it to be...perfect. It's kind of confusing, but you'll understand it quickly enough.

Recommend it to shoujo and fantasy fans. ^^

This manga is one of those manga’s you can just read over and over again (which I have done). It’s stuffed with so many cute moments and added with good characters and an interesting premise this manga is definitely recommended.

Plot- A very nice plot but somewhat simple and the problems, while troublesome and creates a more interesting plot line, I felt they could have been developed a bit better. I would have also liked to see the world of Astale be developed a lot more, with its culture and its politics. But the short story was still had quite a nice plot line.

Characters- They were all nicely done and portrayed. You really disliked the antagonists and yet when you heard their reasons behind their actions you had to feel a bit bad for them. The heroes you rooted for and wanted to see them win over their adversaries. Airi was a perfect heroine for this story, hesitant at the beginning to be involved with anything to do with Astale but slowly she grows a bit more willing to help out and accept her role in that world. It was a nice transition that I enjoyed. I also enjoyed seeing Aram grow up mentally as he took on more responsibilities throughout the story. These two characters matured nicely through the series.

Art- Was excellent, nothing much else to say!

Other- At the end of the story I felt it fell a bit below the standard the story had set before. It went quicker than the pace had previously been and there seemed to be a couple random events that were never resolved. But while the ending wasn’t as good as the beginning it was still good and I’m glad it did a little time skip into the future. The age gap between Ari and Aram was a bit to large for my liking to (and Aram was just so young!) this point was helped along by Aram's maturity for his age and by the fact that he transforms into the body of an older boy it was a bit strange and I can see how some people will dislike the manga because of the age gap. All in all I recommend this manga!

8/10 – Was good
