In all honesty, this is pure shoujo and is ridiculous, but its cute to the point that it overtakes the cheesiness. Yes, it may follow a bit of a generic plot, but it isn't the same "cut out" shoujo that is being mass produced nowadays, so I consider this a success.
So all I can say is that it's super cute manga and worth a read!

Sweet, bit melodramatic, very gentle and lovey-dovey lil series. Veeeery shoujo.
Author also addresses readers as "girls, and the occasional boy who reads me" (or something like that) and states that, based on letters received, 90% of her readership is female.
...On a separate note, scanlators, keep up the good work, please don't drop!!

Watashi no Ookami-san (the prequel) has 2 main plotlines. The first plot line (Watashi no ookami-san) is the story about this overpowered Demon Lord Who decides to quit being the demon lord to be with his one true love a lvl 0 Heroine. Who wants to defeat the demon lord. Watashi no Ookami-san is pretty nice in terms of the characters. I thought the Demon lord teasing the heroine was cute and her tsundere Behavior was adorable as well. Komomo(the heroine) wants to actually make enough money so she can live in her own house. She is one of those extremely frugal and poor person. Being Lvl 0 is tough man. Most of there story is about there hijinks together.
Dear (The sequel) is the series about 2 monsters. Chiruha is a lycanthrope who lived alone most of her life. decides to descend to the city to finally talk to humans. She is cute, she is adorable and has a very likeable personalty. The tsundere Kirara is her main love interest. He can regenerate any wound, works for a special police unit that deals with demons and is considered a monster by his peers. The series is also about this clumsy type heroine known as the general. Alongside 2 very strong characters however their relationship is not romantic. These 3 are the servants of the Demon lord and go and find him and stuff. Basically the series is about these 7 characters doing shit.
Now both of these characters do meet as it is a sequel. In fact i recommend reading the first 2 volumes of Dear then reading Watashi no ookami-san and then going back into Dear. I enjoyed the characters. They all had this unique sense of style and their personality was either likeable or adorable. Both which made the banter involved very engaging and funny. However though i enjoyed the beginning which established the series. I didn't really enjoy the slice of life elements that goes on and on till volume 8. The jokes though funny got boring after a while. The author didn't really use the characters to there full potential till much much later. And some potential wasn't utilized at all. The SOL elements were fine but honestly it missed way to many time.
Vol.8 onwards though this series became serious. The author decided ok, I want to write something thats really entertaining and she does. The story takes a darker path. Characters have to make life changing decisions. Everyone is pouring there feelings. and i really really liked it. The action also is somewhat fun but really after volume 8. Action before vol. 8 wasn't all that good. However once again there is downtime around vol. 11 but it picks up again. The ending however does feel rushed like every other manga ever. I do think it would've been better if the author went a more darker approach but i guess this is good enough
TLDR: Beginning was good, middle was weak but the payoff is somewhat worth it. 6/10 generally fun. Also Chiruha is the best waifu and i will crush in warcraft 3 if you think otherwise.

...the plot is all over the place. In contrast to the description, this is basically a slice of life story set in a slightly (very slightly) fantastical world. There are monsters, but they hardly appear; there are 'lycanthropes', but they hardly matter, there are human-type demons who are indistinguishable from humans, etc.
Basically, you could move the entire story into a school life setting, say, and it would still work. Which is bizarre.
Also, something I don't get at all:
All that said, there are lots of cute scenes, but these scenes are set in a plot I can only consider a complete mess.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Throughout the whele story, Kisara considers his immortality a curse and wants it cured. WHY? Nobody in the story even questioned the notion that immortality could be bad... and it actually turned out that it had no negative consequences as long as you refrained from eating humans, though you'd still age then (for some reason).
All that said, there are lots of cute scenes, but these scenes are set in a plot I can only consider a complete mess.

Shoujo manga with a shounen tag

Really... I read the prequel and thought "hah, it was somewhat amusing even though the shoujo elements turned me, as a guy, off, let's try out the sequel"... No, just no. The shoujo parts intensifies and it becomes a story that takes itself too seriously with too much drama and fighting and not enough comedy, or maybe I'm just blind to this sort of humor. Made it through a dozen or two chapters before I started skimming... and yeah, it the shivering is real. I wonder why I even kept skimming towards the end. It's a typical shoujo manga with all the common elements and sugary, overdone relationships with princely male characters and worthless princess-esque female characters that just gets saved by their big, loving prince with a wide back. I can see how female readers might get turned on by that, but for me it's just disgusting to say the least. Worthless women who can't do anything but cry and get saved is not attractive for me in any sense of the word, and it's not supposed to be since it's a shoujo manga female readers are supposed to self-insert themselves into the story and imagine them/the female mc getting saved and taken care of tenderly by the overly caring, bordering on transvestite, males. Urgh.
Yeah, I was certainly not in the target range here. I was tricked by the shounen tag that should be removed altogether and exchanged with a shoujo tag. The prequel is not the same as this at all, so don't read it for that, and "normal" male readers should steer clear, it's not worth the mental anguish you'll get from reading this. I remember enjoying stories like this, such as fushigi yuugi that I read when I was around 10-13 years old in the library, because it was some of the few manga that was available there, I guess it was because I had been exposed to such a small amount of manga/novels/anime at that time, actually barely any at all, and that I was younger and not yet mature and I wasn't bothered by stuff like relationships or who screws who. However, now when I look back at it, I never want to touch that book or any of the other shoujo manga I read ever again. I remember the story and I agonize over how I once enjoyed them, it's like that dark history that people talk about all the time in japanese works, stuff that you now find extremely embarrassing. I remember the stories and now I judge it all to have been so utterly horrible that I am ashamed of ever having thought it was good, and this includes some shounen manga too.
So, yeah. Give it a shot if you're a girl(or guy) that likes shoujo manga(not saying everyone does), steer clear if you hate shoujo manga. For me it was a horrible experience, not only because I considered the relationships and character personalities as creepy, but also because the story was generally badly done and the jokes didn't appeal to me.
