Fiction or is it?

Yes, this is a fictional story, but we can be and have been cruel creatures historically. The story is not so far fetched given the time period where both women and orphans were lower than dogs. They had no rights or freedoms to speak of. That is why I said that this story could well have taken place in that period of history. It really is an excellent story. The art is beautiful. The characters, although only appear for a short time are extremely well developed. It is not a story for the feint of heart, but a wonderful story to read.
I really look forward to read more of this artist's works.

Not as disturbing as reviewers make it to be

In modern society we see disturbing news presented everyday. There comes a point when these everyday occurence becomes a part of life, and we become desensitised. Reading Bradherley no Basha left me feeling bereft, as if I should have felt more strongly, more disgust. Maybe it was because each chapter consisted of an individual persons story there wasnt enough details given to feel an emotional attachment to the characters, or maybe it's because reviewers expectations hiked up my expectations. Or maybe it's just me. Anyhow, give this one a go if you want to add another reason why humanity is doomed. Have fun

One thing that needs to be straightened out here is that while this may be based on real life/war, it's much more exaggerated. Sure, comfort women were raped many times, but all the torture? No way. Perhaps very rare real life cases may mirror this, but those are one in a billion, maybe even more. So you can stop fantasizing, guys.

Hell

This is the tale of the karma houdini redefined. Beware- it can induce high blood pressure and largely unneeded amounts of hatred for imaginary beings resembling humans. If you ever wanted to experience such emotional wreakage, you'd have to visit a third-world country.

Read it if you ever have to know how cruel people can be.

Surprisingly good

It took me a while before I had the guts to read this. The summary and some (or most?) of the reviews made me want to stay the hell away from this manga. But I'm glad I decided to finally read it. The first few chapters were quite shocking - especially to those not used to reading stuff that had graphic sexual abuse and violence - but when I read up on comfort women after chapter 2, I thought, this doesn't even come close to the nightmare of what happened to real women in WWII. I realized that there is nothing gratuitous about the art and themes in the stories. It was necessary, and it was tastefully done (believe me). I wouldn't recommend this to people who can't stand the themes for one reason or another - but for those who want to read this but are hesitant, give this manga a chance. The storytelling and the art is superb. It's worth it.

I`ve read a lot of disturbing sexual mangas probably you can say worse than this but this is just....different. It involves young girls and there was no happy ending. the sacrifice went on and so.
But a work of art and wonderful story nevertheless. because it`s not all fluffy and sparkly but it`s the reality of the world we live in nevertheless.

Gruesome and depressing

This manga is not recommend for those with a weak heart. The theme revolves around dreams that end up being nightmares. The first chapter would be the most gruesome, as it immediately presents the dark theme of the manga(it also involves physical injuries to gut wrenching places i.e. the eye). However, the later chapters focus more on the psychological side of the girls soon to be or involved with the troupe. Still, I see it as extremely depressing. The story is interesting and provides different points of view of those involved in Bradherley's troupe. My biggest gripe though, would be the ambiguous ending for some of the chapter's characters(It still makes me depressed) . However, the story wraps up perfectly in what to me seemed reminiscent of what happened to Rorschach in Watchmen. I recommend people to read it for the story and the though provoking themes the mangaka gives.

Distrurbing

This is one very sick and disturbing story. There were some scenes I couldn't stomach. You have to be able to accept dark mangas to be able to read this cause this is one of the extremes. It terrifies me that this could actually really happened back then since they didn't have human right's protection like today. I can't say I hate it and I can't say I like it either so I guess no ratings for this one.

Need to wash my head of this sickening story by reading super cute shoujos.

Seriously I'm warning those to can't stand gruesome rape. It's really quite nasty.

The whole manga is more or less an overview of what happens, filled with many inner stories. The art is unique, and the manga is addicting, I suppose, horrifying and touching as some of the stories are.
