I'm enjoying the story so far I just hope they don't start developing romantic feelings towards one another. It would probably be interesting but I don't think I'd enjoy reading it if it happened.

Edit: Looks like my fears might happen.

Ok, i read some of these comments and i was like WTF!? Was i the only one who enjoyed this so much to give it a 10 and type a comment? Yes, a 16 year old and a 40 year old is very disturbing, in fact, they've had sex. If you dont read the manga because of this, you are missing out. The main guy HAS a girlfriend, so i dont think he will be cheating anytime soon. It has a good story, and the are is amazing. I recommend it to everyone.

I'll read this to the inevitable point where the main character's feelings for his father's new wife is actually expressly shown to the readers.
The longer the series goes, the more I realize that the odds of the above not happening are getting slimmer and slimmer.
Hooking up with the girl your father has sex with is a concept I personally find too disgusting to actually enjoy, even when it's fictional. Other than that the whole idea of the protagonist coming to terms with a classmate as his new "mother" is somewhat interesting and well worth a read.

EDIT: Also, the fact that the father's wife seems to want to become a "real" mother to the protagonist despite being his classmate and the same age as him is so ridiculous that I don't know what to say.

The story starts out very average and has almost no special qualities, but it's not bad either. Just nothing special.
At the beginning, there are a few too many of the generic (and with that somewhat boring) accidental walk-ins on naked girls, but those largely disappear as the manga goes on. Thank god, our male lead isn't the kinda horny bastard we find in so many other harems. Yes, he does react to naked girls, even with some nose bleeding, but it doesn't go any further than that, nor does it become any sort of regular "plot" device. He's an upright kinda guy and that's pleasantly refreshing.
At the end of volume 3 (current status) it gets somewhat interesting though. Sadly, the releases are so slow. :S

EDIT: I just finished reading the full story and I was pleasantly surprised. The story continues to be a strange mix of interesting and mediocre for a long time, but the last 10 chapters in particular (30 to 40) are actually very good and the end is satisfying, though the story could have continued a little bit longer.
It should be noted however, that not everybody may find the end outcome understandable or satisfying. I believe it depends mostly and what kind of life and/or tragedies the reader him- or herself experienced. Go have a read, at the very least I believe you won't waste your time.

I feel the same as the previous posters, I don't like how the father who is in his 30s-40s is married to a high school girl. Also I don't like how the girl agreed to the marriage/relationship, what is she thinking? It frustrates me a little and even after chapter 5, knowing what the father and the high school girl were doing, it somewhat upsets me a little. Would have liked a twist if the high school girl was actually the son's fiance and the father marrying her was a lie.

The more I see Imai, the more I feel disappointed. It feels like she's throwing her youth away by going out with the middle-aged man. Are some of the girls there really like this? Ryou's father should have found someone around his own age, I can't help but feel disgusted at the father. Others might have a different point of view, but that's just how I feel, sorry.

very sensitive topic but i dare say he has guts to do it and it ended up really good. I cheer that his dad it setting her up for his son to actually enjoy her youth rather then feeling of attachment of the only person there

The story and characters are so generic I had to stop at chapter 3. It's pretty much a copypasta of any other ecchi romance series which isn't inherently bad, but like My Wife is a High School Girl the characters were so uninteresting I spent most of my time rolling my eyes and sighing after each page.

The mangaka decided to toss in a gimmick (classmate is actually his step mother) to make the story more unique, but the father is almost non-existent and Imai herself is rather bland. She's meant to be sweet and cute, but comes across lifeless and dull. The male lead is your typical ecchi idiot (horny all the time, constant nose bleeds). Not much to say about his "girlfriend" since she's basically a cardboard cut-out used to add tension to the story.

As for my score, I was floating somewhere around a 4 or 5/10. I'll probably pick this series back up as the story nears it's end but for now I'd rather count the number of mysterious stains on my carpet than continue this series.

I'd have to agree with KLGChaos, this manga would probably be way better off as a comedy. There are many questionable scenes that would make ANYONE go "wtf?" Yet the main character acts as if its nothing special and that it is not that abnormal at all. The logic is terrible and the reader will only be pissed after chapter 5. Chapter 5 was probably the point where I just dropped the series, at that point you'll realize that no, there is no special circumstances, and the is just father sick and disgusting, and your hopes for the most natural relationship in the manga are broken, and even if it that relationship somehow occurs it will feel unnatural and not that great.

I have to rate this low. Maybe it's just me, but I can't take the whole guy pushing 40 married to a 16 year old girl in high school. And after seeing what happens in chapter 5, I just want to take a shotgun to the dad's head and the fact that he's some faceless character makes it even worse. I know in Japan this kind of stuff is more acceptable, but the American in me doesn't like it. If I knew my dad was married to a 16 year old, I'd probably disown him. If he was doing more... then I'd have him arrested.

As bass3p said, the fact that the son acts as if nothing's wrong is completely abnormal. Hell, he's dealing with the situation better than she is. I'm wonder what other people reading the series think. I mean, someone tore up their books because a character in one of their mangas had a boyfriend previously (Kannagi). I can just picture the backlash on this.

I'm just waiting for her to get pregnant. Can't wait for the kid to grow up wondering why his/her brother is the same age as his/her mom. I can even picture the father dying and those two falling in love and getting married. Then he can be his own brother's step-father! Someone call Jerry Springer.
