Description
From Viz:
Karin is a cute little girl who also happens to be a vampire with a twist. Once a month, she experiences intense bleeding from her nose-we're talking gushers! In other words, she's a vamp with blood to spare, so rather than stealing blood from humans, she actually gives her blood to them. If done right, this can be an extremely positive experience that benefits the "victim" as much as the vamp. The problem is that Karin never seems to do things right.

Awesome story...sad ending

I personally like this piece. Out of all the manga I've read, I know this story and remember the characters; but I still don't remember the names. I'm starting on the other story that the author made, and they have the same style of art.
I really enjoyed the sister and her doll; wish their were more of them.
For the events in the story, it's pretty darn hard to read. The events tests their bonds as a family;

like the ending and taste test
I didn't really care about the older brother. Course, he cared for her, and helped during the story; but they barley showed him. He always had an expressionless face; but I guess this was intentional.
The father and mother relationship was awesome. They had my crying at times. And I loved the grandmother.

Wish we could have seen more of the grandfather instead of him being dead at the start. I bet he could have added more funny things to the story

Karin, herself, I did cry for her. She's a whine baby, though (not something I usually like). I wished she had more brave/strong moments instead of always being saved.
For the boy...yeah he had a sad past, but I really have to say, I didn't care much for him. I don't know why, but I barley remember anything from him expect his mother.
Overall, this story was good.
Ending was sad. I cried, just like the others.

About the ending

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
About erasing memory. I think a lot of ppl hate it because they see it in the wrong light. I think it was done not for Karin sake (it's really senseless that way, like everyone already pointing out), but for a sake of a Marker family. Just imagine it: Karin is a mortal now, she keeps her memory and keeps her relationship with Anju. They grow more and more emotionally closer and closer, Maka grows older and Anju stays in her enternal youth. And when, guess what? Maka dies. And what about Anju? She reamains emotialy scarred for the rest of her "being"(or refuse to "live" and dry in her coffin) or switch her emotional affection to Maka's descendants (who are also mortals). The only way to "cure" Anju is to severe the ties between them. Ofc, Anju gonna watch her sis for a looong time, but emotions gonna fade in time. Same goes for Maka parents - there is a saying(at least in Russia): the worst thing that can happen to a person (or a parent) is if they saw a burial of their own children. So only way for Maka's parents to ease the future pain is to grow emotionally distant from her.
And why they just said it clearly? For Anju sake - she is not ready for the truth yet.

That I've ever liked a character who cried so dang much. Karin spends most of her time crying and is a really generally 'weak and must be protected' protagonist, and the amazing thing was that it actually didn't make me dislike her at all. I'm not really sure why.

The story was great; full of plot and it kept moving forward. Also, it was hilarious; especially her brother! He's such an AWFUL person, but it's so well-done I couldn't stop laughing! Kind of got his comeuppance there at the end too. The entire theme of family is really well done here.

I thought this series was amazing, I honestly love it a lot. The characters were all amazing, the plot was unique. I loved the characters interactions with each other too. They all seemed to compliment each other and there love for each other felt so strong. There wasn't a doubt that they loved each other and cared a lot.

The ending is so bad to me. I just can't even think about it without crying. I'm serious too lol I just can't think about it. It was terrible that they erased her memories of them....it made me cry especially since she had just said that she wanted to be with them all now and be happy. It was sad. It was a well thought out ending, I can see how it made a lot of sense. But It was NOT happy and just made me sad. Poor Anju especially.

Really great manga

The thing that is great about the manga is the plot and theres great character growth in the story. For those who watched the anime, the manga is way better. First the anime is way different than the manga. So many stuff in the manga is missing in the anime and characters that appear in the anime arent in the manga and vice versa.Secondly the tone of the manga is different because in the manga its kind of darker. Lastly the story is just better but the anime is okay too even though lots of things arent in the manga.
The ending is okay but it could been better.

I think its selfish of Karin's family to erase her memories of them because who would want that? People are saying its for her happiness but come on. Anyone would know that its really selfish and they could have still been happy without the memory wipe.
Overall i give it a 8.5/10 because i thought the plot could have been extended and the ending could have been better.

LOVED it-but I'm surprised people didn't love the end??

Contrary to what most others are saying, I think the ending made the series even MORE enjoyable for me. The prominent theme of the manga was love: both romantic and familial. Karin's love for Usui was certainly a winning point of the manga, but so was her love for her family, and their love for her. The ending proved how truly and thoroughly Karin's family loved her. What's the saying? If you truly love something, let it go.

Especially Anju...I've never LOVED a sister character as much as I loved her. She and Karin cared for each other so much...

Anyway, while the ending was certainly sad, it was most certainly appropriate and meaningful.

A very very nice story. The characters are lovable and interesting. I found the idea of the bleeding vampire is quite unique. The plot develops quite smoothly. The art was fairly nice.
The ending was the only thing that didn't quite meet my expectation. Although it wasn't a bad one. Still, it definitely could've been better.
If it wasn't for the ending, it would've got something very close to a 10 for me.
A great read though, definitely worth your time smile

as everyone said the ending is sad and a little rushed

HOWEVER its a great manga. Karin cries a lot but she gets stronger as the story goes. the romance is a bit slow after all they dont have their first kiss until vol 12.....

but its a hilarious, sweet adorable story. all the characters were full developed and had back stories and they were amazing!

there are some tear jerking moments but it just makes the story more amazing
