I'll just highlight the points.

-This is primarily an episodic, gag-based rom-com. Includes a TON of fourth-wall-breaking.
-The main couple become bf/gf right away, so there's no waiting as far as that's concerned.
-There's a very wide cast of characters; we spend a lot of time on the secondary characters.
-The male lead dresses like a girl because he loves females and hates males. Other characters of both genders crossdress frequently. There are bonafide gay, lesbian, and bisexual characters as well.
-I'll re-emphasize, this is mostly gag. There's occasional serious moments (like when the girl is trying to get her dad to accept her boyfriend's odd habits) but don't read it for those.

In sum: This series is perfect if you want constant goofball hilarity without a whole lot of depth, and with a ton of characters that dance all over the gender spectrum. And since I do enjoy that, I find it a pleasure.

Alas it has none of the 'moe' elements associated with gender-bender, cross-dressing and the likes of such genre. I gave up after struggling through 6 volumes hoping for at least some depth in the plot.

I've read alot of Komura Sensei's works and I have to say; this might just be my favorite one. Why? Because it makes me laugh and that is something not many manga and Mangaka do. It may even be in my top five of all time.

The thing about Usotsuki Lily is that it doesnt take itself to seriously. Actually, I think it makes of point of destroying our expectations of anything to dramatic. Even with all the parody and gags, it still manages to be completey enjoyable. All the characters are lovable (seriously, you can't hate any of them) and they all seem pretty human (most of the time).

It may seem like Hinata and En are the main characters (and they are) but in reality, I think that the manga is about the group of friends. Honestly, Usotsuki Lily wouldn't work unless it had a splendid cast. En and Hinata's actions wouldn't fit and it would end up being a boring regular manga. From the super sadistic, though suprisingly masochistic best friend, Naota, to the weird talking sword otaku, Kenjirou, you'll feel a sense that they belong there and are definetely needed. Same with straight man Taiyou and En's foil of a brother, Ten. Together... The manga is amazing.

The best thing, in my mind at least, is the explanation of "manga time" as I refer to it. Often you'll see at least five valentine day in one series (if it goes on for too long) and the same for pretty much any big holiday. Yet... It seems like no time has passed and the characters are still in the same year as they were when the first Christmas/New Years/ Valentines day happened. It doesnt make much sense and leaves you a little annoyed. But, in Usotsuki lily, the characters openly admit that though they are getting older ( I think by chapter 71 the Main characters are 18 and in second year still. Lolz) they still stay in the same year, AND without getting held back. (Poor Ten, forever an exam taker.) Komura sensei even went as far as to repeat the same chapter setup twice, though admittedly with different results. Its refreshing.

So, if you are in the mood for a pick me up, or something that will make you laugh, I suggest Usotsuki. It has pretty damn good art and the plot (or the lack of any real one) is good too. En-joy!

& ALMOST EVERY CHARACTER IS LIKE WEIRD -.- like Hinata's brother & all those guys at school who like En (even after they knew he was a guy), En's brother who like guys & En's whole family -.-, and all these random characters that cross-dresses -.-
but i guess it makes the manga funnier and more interesting

I like the manga and all but I don't like the multiple couples..I want the mangaka to focus only on the main couple who are En and Hinata..the other couples are cute too but I prefer the main couple..and sometimes I wished it could be a continuous story not episodic..

The characters are ok, the story is simple, cute and funny but now its time to end it. I cant read it because the chapters have no plot or the line is very weak. I love the art but is not enough.

this manga is very cute and loved filled. the only problem is it is getting to that point in which its time to end. As chapters keep raising it feels like the author is just spewing out random junk with no strong plots. it gets very predictable. all in all i did like it at first and now its at a stage of boring me. (the Art is excellent[though the girls look alot like the guys]!!!!)

The characters are bearable, the art is cute, it's entertaining (I don't know if you'll really laugh), and it's all around adorable.

The only thing that makes this a "rainy-day" manga is the fact that it gets repetitive, breaks the fourth-wall too much, and isn't going anywhere plot-wise.

This manga is super funny. Every single chapter manages to make me laugh out loud, which is very rare since I'm not the kind to laugh easily. There's no character development, but I don't think it's necessary for a gag manga.

I normally have no problem with manga characters crossdress, but seeing it so many chapters, you get annoyed and pissed.
I'm about 27 and since chapter 10 i'm thinking: en stop crossdressing please... -__-
