Epicness itself

I wonder why people complain about Rape in a Seinen Mafia manga, I mean I'm not a gangster but I'm 110% sure than gangsters are related to sex industries and also rape itself. So, it's a bit close to reality.
Regarding the plot, a guy who wants to become a cop in order to win a woman but he transforms into a mafioso? EPIC MAIN PLOT DUDES!
And finally, Artwork? It is one hell of an artwork.

Yeah, someone might disagree, but I bet they like the stupid "boobs all over the place" manga/manhwa better.

Style over substance with a slice of porn

I have to agree with some of the reviewers here as the story is nonexistent and bland. The women are also objectified to no end and the first 2 volumes look kinda weird. The art from then on is top notch but the lack of any meaningful context makes it utterly forgettable too. Sun-ken Rock my be a bit better then it´s sibling Tenjou Tenge (The Horror, The Horror!) but the use of (gang) rape as fan service, the endless video game-esque fights that have no stakes and the baffling decision to turn the leads into amoral murderers as time went on was the final star for me and made me drop it and my score. I am also not sure what the manga is about anymore too as the recent chapters looked at were just a string of murders in sequence intercut with identical looking women fighting in each other in skimpy underwear and flashing their breasts. The 4 axed spinoffs are finally the last joke in this franchise that has not punchline. Or ending as it is destined to go on forever so read Until Death Do Us Part (9,5/10) if you want a top of the line action series or Yamikin Ushijima-kun (8,5/10) if you want a series about the mafia that actually makes sense and doesn´t feel like it was written by a 16 year old on speed.

Mediocre

Read this up to ch. 80, and I have to say that this manga is mediocre at best. It tries to straddle the genres of comedy, drama, and action-adventure, but does none of those particularly well (e.g. transitions between comedic and dramatic story arcs come abruptly, disrupting the flow of the story). The story is also quite aimless in its direction, with the mangaka seemingly making Ken do random, irrelevant things just because that's what he thinks the readers will enjoy. If you're just looking to kill time some random Saturday afternoon, this manga might fit the bill, but why pick this series up when there are so many better series out there such as Gintama, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Rurouni Kenshin?

Was Raelly Interesting

The manga was funny and different. The plot is different and it kept me wanting more. I really hate rape but I eventually got used to it. It is not as bad as other manga's I have read so it was not a real shock to me. The comedy was really hilarious but gradually it started going downhill

I love shounen plots like this but like most of them it goes downhill for me. I love the plot at the beginning and I even followed the scanlation groups Random Scanlations and XScansX releases but now it not as enjoyable now. Reviewing this manga I had to think outside the box and not be bias. I would have rate this manga a 9 but thinking it over and reading reviews, it can only get a 8/10 at most. The plot is really stupid now when I think it's over because it is unbelievable that someone could be a boss in a gang in a couple of days.

Overall it is a good manga but some people will not like it. I think it would have been different if the weren't as much chapters because now that there are 90+ chapters people will not like to read a manga that has that much chapters when it gets boring at the beginning.

i can't stand rape

i get emotionally entangled when i read something and for that reason i just can't stand rape and prostitution/forced prostitution in fiction. i understand it's all an undeniable fact of life that happens every day in the real world, but one of the main reasons i read manga is to escape from that reality and forget about horrible things like unconsensual sex. i'm just a normal guy, not a major feminist or anything fyi. i'm all for "good guys" going through adversity, but i'd just rather that adversity not include a bunch of unconsensual sex.

i'm not saying such things should be outlawed or anything (i am a strict proponent of freedom of speech) i'm just saying rape is not something i'll ever wanna read about in a fictional sense (fiction means you're not bound by anything other than your imagination, so just because rape is an undeniable occurrence in our world doesn't mean it ever has to be in a fictional world as well). leave something like that to documentaries, etc.

i say all this but in the end there is always an exception to the rule so take it however you want. i simply have not come across that exception yet in any of the manga i've read so far, including sun-ken rock.

Bad plot

EVERY single girls appeared in this manga are sluts. Except for that yumin.

It's incredibly unrealistic and unfit for such a theme (mafia, barefist winning against guns? srsly?) And the fact that a man became the boss of korean mafia after.... 2 battles? I mean if that's what it takes then everybody could do it, right?

The art is good, but plot and everything else just sucks.

Addicting~

I dropped this series around chapter 11 because of the bad translations and the mixed up pages (the zip files would always display out of order for me in CDisplay). Anyway, after reading yokeepsitreal's comment about not judging until after the monk training, I decided to pick it up again, and I am so glad I did. This pretty much has everything I look for in a manga:
Action - Considering it's about gang wars and the mafia, there's never a lack of action, and after the training with the monks, the action is pretty epic.
Art - Seriously beautiful, realistic during the fight scenes.
Comedy - Boichi-sensei draws the cutest chibis ever. There is never a lack of comedy, even during the more serious parts of the manga. I found myself cracking up in the dead of night while I was catching up.
Characters - Are excellent. Ken himself is so loveable while he tries to resist all the beautiful girls coming onto him because he already loves someone. Tae-soo is the brains of the group, but also gives off an ambivalent feeling, making me question whether he has ulterior motives.
Romance - the romance between Ken and Yumin is really cute, though it hasn't really been developing in the latest chapters (65-77) because of the Idol Arc.

Anyway, I definitely recommend this, no doubt you'll be addicted after a couple of volumes~

You get to experience everything in this manga. The characters are interesting, the story changes pace to keep your attention, the artwork is beautiful, and it leaves you craving for more. I've yet to find a comparable manga worthwhile.

First off, you can't judge this manga based off the first 5 to 10 chapters. After
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
their training with the monks
the story starts to really pick up and the characters start to develop into super likable beings. Overall, this manga is has the potential to become fuckin amazing and I can't wait to read more.
