Went from a 10 to a 6 when the chapters got to three digits

Disclaimer: I've read this 100% through scanlation so I regret it's a completely different and bias experience compared to reading the professional translations by VIZ, which I recommend you do.

If you've never read this before, judge whether you want to continue or not by reading till the Devil vs. Angel Music Video arc (forgot whether it was chapter ~40 or ~60). That was the point of no return for me i'm right now suffering RIghT nOW.

I went through much fantastic emotion with the very earlier part of the series but I'm currently on ch229 and every other chapter has been so thick with close up reactions, choppy pretense, and sitting-around-a-table for exposition that i don't even know what's happening anymore because i don't. care. about 97% of what is going on.

I just want my main couple SHIPPED and DONE already and it still hasn't happened yet.

May kami save us all.

A bit overrated

Well, to be honest, this is one of the very few shoujo mangas I've read that I liked. Really liked. Followed even. But to say it's 10/10 is an overstatement. Since people who seem to review this are people who are totally in love with it and see no fault I will take time and just point out the flaws in it while still being in favor of it. An attempt at a useful review, rather than gushing over it.

On the downside the art is something to get used to. The lines are too angular for faces to be considered (realistically) aesthetically pleasing, the body is too elongated. Up side is you can get used to it and Nakamura-sensei has a knack of depicting movement in her art which is a talent often overlooked.

Downside , it starts slow. Too slow, for me it got interesting during the Princess Revolution which meant agonizing over 10 chapters of close to worthless storyline with brief moments of amusement. But upside is if you do see the good in the Princess Revolution arc (read: determined lead character, depiction of acting in an art and I can only emphasize the fact that Nakamura-sensei makes the characters MOVE.) there are loads more in store such as actors generating a new character.

Downside, the romance bit is overbearing. With the age gap issue and the lost heart or whatever. Upside is humor, it is pretty hilarious if you like over the top humor (well, not totally over the top but it does get ridiculous).

Well, I guess that's it. It is a good read. Not a ten out of ten but it still goes a little beyond average. At least in my opinion.

I like the story, and it's also funny!
But yeah... the story progress is less than i expected... the main path sometimes get blur by this this and that.. After more than 19 volumes, kyoko still had no progress at all. Heiii I memorized in early chapter that she ever said she wanted to get her heart back... Until now--- Not a chunk at all.
What i like most of the story is that it makes me laugh. That kyoko is really weird! Double personality biggrin

Fairly average

For me, it's a mystery as to why this manga is rated so highly. I don't think it's bad, but it hardly merits such a high score. At times it's funny and, to be fair, the heroine has some spunk about her, unlike a lot of shojo heroines. However, it's not subtle, it's not sophisticated. Basically, it's just nothing very special. The premise itself is shaky (what kind of talent company has a Love Me department?!) and it's difficult for me to sympathise with Kyoko when I see her whole motivation as extremely superficial and, dare I say it, pathetic. Anyway, I would have been willing to overlook these flaws had the manga itself been worth reading. I found that it wasn't. It doesn't break any new ground or really stand out much at all, which is what I would expect from a series that's rated so highly. The quirks that initially made this a little different (Kyoko's demons, the wacky humour) became tiresome after a while. My score is quite high because it is an enjoyable read - it is bursting with energy. It's also a lot better than other rubbish shojo out there. Having said that, I can think of loads more series that are miles better than this. I might be interested in reading a few chapters every once in a while, but this is not a series I will be following.

I also agree with Lillian's comments about the anime being better. The animation brings Kyoko's evil spirits to life and makes it even funnier. It also doesn't take itself as seriously or dwell on things as much as the manga. Oh, and the art is better. Hopefully they make more seasons.

character choice

this manga has the BEST character choice of all. Strong and high-spirited women is just something to deserve a really cool guy!! that's what we call justice!

in fact, aside from the love story of protagonists... i really don't know where to side... sometimes i would prefer shou then ren then shou then i'd end up having them both for me! ahahaha. anyway, the way that the story introduces showbiz life... i'm starting to like it. instead of romance, i could also not bore myself by looking after the successess of kyoko. that's what makes it a sure HOOKER.

this has got to be the best manga i ever read i love kyoko. she really has guts and with that and her obvious talent in acting, she will go very far. sho can go to hell. as for ren....step it up already! when are you gonna confess to kyoko?!?!?! but i seriously hope this will not end like tokyo crazy paradise where nothing happens between the lead characters....i'll be totally heart broken... T.T

I love this manga! The art is very detailed but sometimes it bugs me how tall they all are. I love all the volume 14 chapters!!! I love the kyoko and sho pairing! (spoiler) It was a great scene when Sho saves kyoko from that vie ghoul guy. I was really mad when Ren stopped Sho just as he was about to tell kyoko that he loved her!! It is so great how kyoko at first when she finds out about sho, because in a lot of manga I think she would try to get him back. I also think how the characters fall in love is realistic. This is a great manga!!

I am absolutely hooked on this manga. It's just that good in my opinion. Everytime I said to myself "ok this is going ot be the last chapter for tonight" I'd end up pulling an all nighter cause I just couldn't stop reading! XD Now that I've caught up to the 113th chapter I'm dying for the next one to come out. And by gosh darn, when I have enough money I'm heading straight over to my local book store to purchase all the volumes that they have available! I would also like to add I'm head over heels for Ren. ^//^

This manga is my favorite, it's completely different from all the mangas I have ever read! Kyouko's character is something really amusing. It's a very, highly addictive manga and I am definetly going to collect the whole thing!

I liked Kyoko's whole revenge thing, and her growth in her acting abilities. What I don't like is Tsuruga Ren...seriously, i find the guy pretty creepy. Shou is pretty annoying too, but i know he's supposed to be like that, and then miraculously change as he realizes he's in love with her or something (read: i haven't read further than 50~ish chapters, so idek...)
MC needs some freaking logical thinking though, girl is so dense it's CRAZY! The whole love part of this manga isn't needed imo, could've managed with just the acting bits 🙂
