[From Viz]: Being a teenage martial artist isn't easy, especially for Ranma Saotome, who went through a major transformation on a training mission with his father. After an accidental dunk into a legendary cursed spring in China, Ranma now changes into a girl every time he's splashed with cold water. That would be enough to complicate anyone's life, even without the arranged fiancée who doesn't like him (or says she doesn't) and the constant stream of rivals and suitors for both his male and female forms. What's a half-guy, half-girl to do?

Good for a laugh, not so good for a plot
This is one of those manga that doesn't have a plot but has plenty of amusing antics to make up for it. While it is a long series, Ranma 1/2 does not have the drawn-out feeling that many other long series have thanks to its lack of a plotline and the sheer number of relationship issues within. Characters may seem to come out of the woodwork, but each has his/her own strange personality that adds to the hilarity of the given situation, and most are just involved for amusement, not for an advancement of a plot.
In short, this is a manga for amusement purposes alone, not for people interested in action and detailed plotlines. If you ever need a series that will last a while and keep you laughing all the way, this is a great series to pick up.
I love it!
Creative and silly. The characters are all distinctive (and exaggerated) and delightful. I never get tired of their antics.
What a good manga!
This is the best work of Rumiko Takahashi! So far is the funniest manga I've ever read!
A classic manga well worth the read. The situations are funny and the characters likeable. Pichan will always be my fav!
rather than a martial arts manga it is more like a romance and comedy to me but still a great manga
One of my favourite.
One of the best manga i have ever read. Other works of this author can't be compared to it.
girl/boy? I can't decide how I prefer Ranma
A fun manga that will have you laughing, go into this one expecting insanity with a side of martial arts and a bit of a love story.
This manga is by the same woman who later did inuyasha, but this is far better.
This is absolutely hilarious! But inspite of the humor it also points out a few gender issues.
One of the most hilarious mangas I have ever read. I've been reading them since i was in 6th grade, and five years later, nothing has made me laugh harder. my parsonal favorite, much better than the anime.
