Ah, well the art is a bit more delicate than I normally go for, but it was some how very fitting and lovely. The story started off a bit sad, but it picked up. The side story here was cute as well, and every one (except Ishihara, sorry buddy) gets a fairy tale ending.

Somehow, the more I read, the more the art style grew on me. The way the artist uses it makes it even better. Some of the images were just really touching.

The way that Yuka put up with the bullying and didn't want to worry Gotou, the way Gotou was constantly thinking of what his relationship should be, guardian, teacher or something more, it was all really drawing me in. I want to read more by this author.

Ougi-Sensei = Angst Goddess

Spoiler (highlight to view)
The way that Yuka never gave up and always faced the world head-on with a sunny disposition, even in the face of bullying, rejection by his mother, his grandmother's illness and confusing emotions from his Sensei, was so endearing.

The scenes where Yuka and Gotou visit the sea-side town were heart-wrenching.

The struggles that Gotou goes through within himself are sharply moving: the struggle in accepting that his philosophy of 'Human Love' is good, but flawed when he discovers love; the struggle of his role as guardian/tutor/friend/lover with Yuka; and the struggle of his raging jealousy. (The scene where he throws Yuka to the ground after Yuka refuses a 'kiss' (because he is broken and upset that Gotou has told him his first and only friend is not really his 'friend' and treated said friend unkindly) and then scares the s*&t out of him, but ultimately stops had me teary-eyed.)

As Ougi-sensei says in her monologue at the end, there aren't as many penises in this story but it is poignantly told with dramatic scenes.

child molester?!

This is a good one. The main character Yuka has somewhat of a sad life, but he's loved by his Grandmother, so he's happy for the most part--- that gave the manga a sombre tone yet it was beautifully illustrated and expressed. The plot is very subtle but that subtlety is ver well orchestrated. I enjoyed the dark outlook the mangaka presented, and how these two characters struggled and ultimately teach (no pun intended) each other what the other lack. I was distress over the age though, it still strikes me as a sketchy and touchy subject. Yuka shouldn't of been casted as a 15 year old, I wish he was 18 instead but I guess that would've been boring and the mangaka probably wanted that way - to shock and interest readers. But Gotou sensei was NOT presented as some type of creepy child molester so that was okay I guessed. And I also love the line "draw with love." It's not the typical yaoi! You actually witness them gradually loving the other (which never felt force) and you witness their journey of finding love and happiness and family, which made it all the more beautiful.<333

Calcifer, you should know that this is a great yaoi manga, but the key word here is still YAOI. Therefore, it's pretty obvious that someone who doesn't like yaoi, probably won't like the series.

GREAT SERIES!!!! SOOO CUTE!!!! Great art, great characters, great plot... What more can one ask for?

The art, the plot, the characters, all cool and cute~ Yuka is really adorable. :"> One of Ougi's best works.

And, DUH, this is a good YAOI manga, of course it would be rated high by yaoi fans. '____'

There is nothing original about this story, the art is mediocre and the characters are typical. Probably just high rated due to yaoi fans

This is the saddest and one of the most heart-wrenching yaoi manga(s) I've ever read..The characters are very gorgeous and the story although a typical teacher-student relationships is very unique..I love the personality of the characters and you'll find yourself loving them and their interaction.
