The purported advertisement from the Jump Square issue says that everything in The Prince of Tennis up to now has been a "prologue" and that "a new legend for Ryoma and the others will begin." 50 middle school players have been invited to participate in the All Japan U-17 Selection Camp. Ryoma Echizen returns from the U.S to join his teammates and rivals.

I just finished a re-read of the original series, and was excited to have a follow-up. Now I find that instead of moving the middle schoolers into high school and pro circuits, we get some idiotic mind-f*ck tennis camp vs primitive back-to-nature training with an obvious neo-luddite point of view? How ridiculous and how not worth the time. Oh, and to top it, tennis battles that used to take volumes now take 2-3 10 page chapters. The only reason this doesn't get a 1 score is because I'm happy to see the characters again, and because the art is better than ever. Too bad the story doesn't come close.
So far not good
I don't know where this series is going. It is not even a good continuum of the first series, it has liked moved onto another dimension with this new series. Transitioning from the earthly tennis to the galactic tennis. Even in the original series, it had initiated that transition near the end, to many's discontent. And now it plans to continue on that with greater intensity.
The first series was acceptable despite the superpower things going on, since its foot was still on the ground, this one, there is not even an expectation of that happening...
It would have been a better idea to start a new series on a completely different idea instead of trying to mess up with what is already on brittle grounds...
Middleschoolers ? O RLY ?
what blows my mind is the fact that ryoma and team are merely middleschoolers as it seems. Roughly every1 except ryoma looks like hes in his mid 20's. I wonder how the hell the authors gonna show growth and ageing ? maybe they'll get beards and alzheimer in highschool ? Anyway, the story so far could be depicted in 1 chaper seeing as the chapers are 10 pages long and nothing rly happens. Oh and 'Supernatural' in Genre is long overdue seeing as this never was real tennis to begin with.
Literally had an manga induced orgasm from the fact that I, the fan of ryoma echizen's epicness, would see his lovely tennis skills gracing the papers once again.
Then came reality. The chapters are kind of short. I can only see this new tennis series being dragged out way too long, losing many potential fans along the way. However, I refuse to quit this series as it's still in the baby stage. I give this a 9 because I know that the mangaka will not let me down..
Good, I'm glad to have a sequel to PoT. The characterizations and such remain just as good and it seems to be pretty much the same as the old. I like the opening.
My only complaint is that the chapters are too short for a monthly magazine. Used to the 25ish pages most things in SQ have. Still nothing wrong with it I suppose.
It's nice to see the old characters. I also agree with the other comments. hmm. what else is there to say? Well so far all my comments have been said so until the next one...
This book has a very good start I agree with lots of comments. They are all right. Though I think you should make a book, and maybe you should add more people not making it hard to understanding. don't make it all over the place. That's what I hate about most manga when it's like.
It is what it is
It is a continuation of PoT, nothing more and nothing less. If you're wondering what to expect from this, expect the same old characters, art style, and goal except in a new setting. There are a couple of new characters and though they were given names, they didn't seem to be all that important at the time. Overall, it's there.
Well first prince of tennis was ok but with bad ed so it is great that story continue. But this manga have to ongoing in WSJ and not in Jump SQ. It is too slow. I am happy that prince is back this manga is great with E21 the best from Shueisha

I was so surprised when I say this release in onemanga. I was thinking that the ending to prince of tennis was kind of unsatisfying. SO happy that there is a sequel, or the main story if you go by what the summary says. One of my favorite series is back again. Can't wait till next release. Oh yeah, the first chapter was really good. XD
