Description
All Miki Koishikawa wanted was an ordinary family and that's exactly what she had until her parents decided to move in with another couple (as in switching spouses!) and turned Miki's world upside down. Now she lives in a house with four parents and her totally cute stepbrother, Yuu. It's bad enough being brought into her parents' strange soap opera, but Miki will star in a soap of her own as she deals with friends having affairs, trying to survive in school and ending up torn between her long-time crush, Ginta, and her new stepbrother!

Bleh!

i spent 3 days reading this, yeah it gave me a fluffy feeling at times, but the actual plot was like a moldy dry bread crust. Miki got on my nerves at times and this could have REALLY used a light ero scene. I mean the settings are perfect all the time but then the chapter ends T_T plus, its so cliche and the ending was HORRIBLE! trust me. Just....like i named this, marmalade boy is Bleh.

Naïve, Boring... and Stupid
Rating: 2.0 / 10.0

One of the first shoujo I've ever read, was pretty young back then and didn't really like it... Ten years later and after having reread it... It's even more stupid than I thought it was back then.

The main heroïne is spending the whole time wondering... and wondering... and wondering to the point of ultimate boredom. No personnality at all, she's plain and boring. Her best friend is in in love with her teacher, classic shoujo cliché, but it's not even dealt with a slightest bit of originality.

It's seems like an accumulation of clichés put together but never exploited with Inventiveness. With such a long carreer, I was expecting something else but every mangas she's done I've read so far are so damn superficial It's a pain. Among them, Marmalade Boy is certainly one of the worst she's done.
I can't even explain how the hell did I manage to finish it twice.

Manga's OK, Anime's even worse

Well, I guess the title says it all. I made the mistake of watching the anime first, and was disgusted and repulsed. Did it really take 72 episodes to chose Yuu, Miki? At the prodding of a friend I finished the manga and I must say it was loads better, it almost didn't drag at all. It was better in my opinion than Kare Kano, but Hana Yori Dango still reins supreme......ESPECIALLY the live j-drama.

This was a series which never seemed to go anywhere. The characters remained static for the purpose of fitting the stereotypical "shoujo: boy and girl pairing". I only read all the volumes because I promised a friend I'd do so.

If you don't like to read and hate to think and only want to look at pretty pictures, then this manga is for you. Otherwise, avoid at all cost.

A really cute and sweet story. Only 8 volumes, so it's not too drawn out, but the characters never develop beyond their original personalities. The ending doesn't feel as dramatic as it could be, but it's still satisfying.

I very like the story about Miki and Yuu (YUU LOVE). The arts are... clear and the characters has realistic traits. It's one of my favourite mangas!

I don't know if it is that new manga in the same genre are faster developing the story nowdays but I found this one to be way too slow. it has its funny and memorable moments but nothing outstanding. I found the ending a huge waste of time as it took a couple of volumes for something stupid. Read only if you are a soup opera freak.

Spoiler!

SPOILER WARNING

I am a guy and I read shoujo also. I really really dislike this manga. I gave it a 5 instead of a 1 because i did not want to bring the average down too much. Since it seems other people really enjoy it. But this is one of my most hatest mangas. The reason i dislike it is the main characters. The main girl is completely in love with the main boy no matter how cold he is. And the main boy does not seem to show any signs of affection for the main girl through out the whole series. Yet in the end they end up together. Their is little to no character development in between the first and last volumes. It is like chapter 1 he is very cold to her. And than in the final chapter he loves her. The main flaw of this manga is the character development. This work has the same problem as her other work Kimi Shika Iranai. Which had a similiar deus ex machina, out of nowhere, lovely ending. Although I did like Minta Na Bakura. Yes I read all 8 volumes.
