Not one of my top 20 faves, but if it keeps on getting better, it might as well be. It is a fun manga with a little drop of seriousness that adds some depth. It really gets into the world of modeling and, unlike other cross-dressing model-celeb manga, explores how short the celebrity lifespan of a model can be- especially if you're a guy dressing as a girl. The heroine is also strong and loyal. And the hero's inner demon-like nature causes a lot of laughs.
I'm glad that this manga is getting more and more popular. This is just one of those rare mangas that you pick up because the art looks good, but when you read it, the story gets better and better-up until you find yourself hooked in. This is exactly the type of manga you expect from Hana to Yume; Fruits Basket was also awesome in the same way.
But it's really a pity that this manga only became known AFTER it was licensed by Tokyopop and there aren't more scanlationso___+ That, and the fact that Tokyopop's dropping the seventh volume makes me wonder. What will become of Nousatsu Junkie in the states?
Anyway, this manga is worth buying, for sure. It's cute, has great art, and the characters are very interesting. But be warned, the romance blossoming is a BIT slow, and all these obstacles pop up that slows down the relationship even more, so if you like something fast and quick, this isn't the one for you(unless you are willing to risk that to see the pretty pictures).
This is one of the only manga i actually collect, I wish it was scanlated but i think its definitely worth buying lol. The art, character design and plot are all really cute in comparison to most shoujo manga. Plus the characters personalities are interesting and the plot flows better then other shoujo. I'm completely in love with the manga!
I love this manga, it's the only thing I'm buying from TokyoPop right now. Sucks that it's being postponed D:< I read the Japanese RAWs but it's such an awesome manga that I have to buy it too =D The artwork's really nice too~
i really love this series.... the artwork is kind of lame, but if you get used to it, it ain't half bad... the story plot is really great especially the way the author balanced the way the events will happen... i really love it and it is currently my favorite now... i hope that the tokyopop publishing company will realize that this manga is not worth for postponing temporarily,,, i love and buy this manga so i hope that tokyopop will make it an ongoing project...
Well, i read these books recently, and i DO FALL IN LOVE with them.. For Naka & Umi are lovely and adorable persons, and i do love the whole stories.. Totally funny and flew my stresses away, bigrazz i love your drawing too...
I can't wait for the next book, since in Indonesia it's still no 10..
i like the premise but wont say its innovative, (remember Shoujo Shounen ?) its morale boosting to some maybe thats y ppl liked it but please dont compare this to kodocha, which is a work of art..this manga is cute, the drawing lines seem drawn in a way to emphasize the lightness of the atmosphere though of course she cries, he consoles, very typical actually
This is a really fun read and not too serious. I really enjoy it and the characters are developing very well. It's not like the typical predictable Shoujo storyline. The romance isn't very impulsive and annoying. It reminds me of Kodocha!
This is officially my favourite manga, I've just bought volume 5 and it gets better and better in each volume, there is so much humor, whenever I read it, it just cheers me up! I've read the raws up to ch.74 as I'm studying japanese at school. The afro-ness is really random too. It's funny when Umi and Naka get embarrased and start doing weird things, thinking they need to go to the doctors because they have something worng with their hearts lmao. All the characters are funny in their own ways! Funniest are Naka, Umi and Tsutsumi! Anyways, it's a MUST READ!! =]
