One of the Best Manga out there

Around five year ago I read first volume of GTO but for some reason it don't click me so to drop it but a few day ago I give it one more chance,It's rock.

I can't said that in real life teaching style such as Onizuka will be great or even suitable , we must admitted it was extreme way and improper in some aspect but at least we reader can learn many good quality things from this manga, great work.

touch of friendship, vision of education staff, repent and learn to fix own mistake, teamwork, forgive , atonement, etc.

But a little bit of disappoint cause this manga is so lack of romantic till the end and Onizuka is so close to immortal.

It's full of Action when I started read it till finished volume 25, take me 4 days and many hours but my heartbeat with excitement from volume 2 when Onizuka start his teacher job at his main institute till the end.

This manga is once in a lifetime manga that revolve around teacher / student relationship. <Must read>

This is one of the few mangas I read that are based in school settings. Onizuka is hilarious in his weird antics. I was a bit reluctant to start reading this because it was about education but I was proved wrong.

I definitely recommend this to students of all ages, it is worth reading. I finished the series in 3 days XD!

It's for the Idealist

This manga really rocks out if you're in high school, and think things can't get more boring. You know your teacher hates you, and your class is the kind that segregates into groups you're not really comfortable in.

It's not meant for everybody; it's highly idealistic when it comes to what teachers can do. But it's hilarious, even if some aspects, such as the prestigious school stuffed with delinquents, don't really match the reality.

Other than for the fun, it allows teens to recognize that they wish school was more interesting, beyond the stereotypes. I mean, c'mon, you're gonna say you DON'T wish class was that weird?

In spite of whatever technical flaws it may have, GTO has fulfills its purpose: to make you laugh and have a good time at situations so impossible that they're surreal. It makes fun of all the twisted little archetypes in high school stories. It lets you loosen up about school.

Highly recommended, primarily to high school kids. Beats Naruto and One Piece any day; those two don't have any scenario you can picture in your own school.

best comedy manga written, period

the overall carefree and easygoing attitude of both Onizuka and the plot is what keeps you reading this series
the lessons the protagonist teaches are priceless.. and the deep and strong bond between the classmates is visible throughout the storyline

compared to other shounen genre series, the GTO's depiction of junior high life is the most realistic (although the teacher is "out-of-the-world")

even though Onizuka is continually disrespected by his students and peers throughout the plot, a deep respect for him builds up inside the reader after every hurdle/student he overcomes

regarding the artwork, Fujisawa Tohru's most inherent ability is the knowledge and skilled use of camera view angles..
every comedy scene is just epic because of the way he introduces the punchline or picture

One of the greats

One of my favorites and definately in my top 3 along with one piece and hajime no ippo (I've read every manga on one manga from a through m just in case my endorsement of one piece puts anyone off). This is vying for the top spot since one piece has only recently become so brilliant and since hajime no ippo has been consistently brilliant for 4 times as long. The artwork is better and this manga is hilarious. This is a jewel that everyone should sample and appreciate.

I thought this was going to be one of those really guy-oriented mangas. I wasn't entirely wrong.

Onizuka is definitely a hot-blooded...uh, dude. He's horny, stubborn, violent, and idiotical. It's awesome.

But somewhere along the way, he makes everything funny and so epic. This is the way school comedies should be done. Hands down, GTO rocks all other delinquent-turned-teacher dramedies.

Over-rated

I think GTO is rather highly over rated. The drawing isn't that great and story gets somewhat repetitive with only different people at it.

GTO starts out as not all that entertaining. It doesn't make you laugh out loud - well I never bursted into laughter even once, there's no "awwww" moments of romance, there's really nothing great. But, it is extremely addictive. Once you start, it's really hard to stop. But, that's really the only good quality if you ask me. If you consider it a good quality anyways.

There are several scenes in GTO that seem like the author is trying to use his/her brain quite a bit with the so called smart kids or teachers. But they only get good grades and they honestly aren't that smart. I could come up with better solutions to problems than they do in 5 seconds. The so called prodigy kid doesn't show a single sign of comming up with a clever plan. I think the author somewhat lacks the ability to come up with some really great and makes you go "omg, i never thought of that!!" Rather, most end up as simply being lucky or there was someone else's back hand that happened to have helped him. The same pattern continues through several arcs of this manga. This was the reason for me to drop this manga after reading more than half.

On another side, I think this author had a really bad time with his/her teacher or something. There's so much anti-teacher bashing in this manga that it's almost sickening. And i'm not even a teacher!! Other than the "pretty teacher", "the nurse" and onidzuka, every other teacher is a bad guy with some serious mental issues.

The manga tries to show the so called biker's real life and some real life problems, but the entire manga is just.... really unrealistic. Some stuff in the manga certainly does exist in real life, but all concentrated on one place like that with high prestige school? Give me a break. I know i'm reading a fictional story that is made to be exciting, but so many of the plans and tricks that happen are rediculously unrealistic with extremely easy solution if you only have half a brain occur repeatedly. Honestly, I dislike manga where the main character is a complete moron. He can get tricked a million times and will fall for something almost identical to the last time. He absolutely has no ability to see who doesn't even like him when they are even screaming all the time about it.

Oh btw... this manga has the "enhance" feature in computers vs porn and any other so called mosaiced... It's about a great as some CSI:NY episode where someone goes "I'm going to make a GUI on VB to track the IP". WTF!!! Please don't make bs....

Yea... this manga... not that great.

If you haven't read this yet? then what the heck are you doing, they finished translating this in 2005! Go on, get to it! This will be the best teacher/school manga you will ever read. Its got all you want, comedy, action, drama, romance and most of all I like how real life issues are brilliantly delt with by Onizuka! I love this manga and the anime is just so goood, and I have the BOX SET! OH YAAAA! Its a pitty they only animated half of the manga, or else it would have been perfect! Definately my most favourite manga of all time and my most favourite main character in manga. Onizuka is THE BEST!

I didn't think I could find a manga I could like better than any other. Tokyo Crazy Paradise was what came closest to being my favorite, until I stumbled upon GTO. I swear I've never read anything like it.

It's the funniest, most hilarious manga I've read, but it's also one of the most interesting as far as psychology and "depth" goes. Gave it a 10 but it'd deserve more!

I was a little skeptic at first. I was also put off by the art, but once I got into the story I couldn't let it go!!

Onizuka is the man, for real!!

This is a great manga, good story.

I gave it a 10 because the story outshines the art and I could respect that.

The scanalation was a little rough in a few volumes with the color bubbles and different size fonts and types, but towards the end the scanalation cleaned up very well.

A great manga, a must read and good slice of life manga. And to be honest, I've known people like Onizuka, I can realate.
