I don't even know what to think about this one. I wonder if I'm the only one who found the end sad?

totally got hooked in reading this manga XD. It's a gender bender so i suppose you know what it means, but it's really thrilling and fun to read.

I'm so hooked on this manga that I cry every time I find out that another chapter hasn't been released. Seriously, this is so brilliant. And so twisted and freaky. At first, it seems to be just another school drama about a gender dysphoric kid... But it's so much more than that. It's a search for identity in more ways than one, and it covers issues as diverse as dealing with sexual abuse, dealing with being a misfit and of course just dealing with being a bastard. (Indeed, one of the characters has to cope with the fact that he's pretty much a psychopath.)

I feel Mashiro's pain. S/he is the only decent individual in a system that's as crazy as it is cruel... I keep hoping that he'll be able to save not only himself but the other students from it as well.

For what it's worth, I'm bloody glad that no one can see my nightmares. Jesus. Reality is nasty enough as it is...

EDIT: Haha, I've decided to buy the manga. I can't wait... It's such a relief that the first four volumes are already licensed! Thanks to the scanslation groups for bringing it to my attention; I wouldn't have found out about this manga otherwise.

I just picked up book one and two from my library this afternoon and I am absolutely hooked on this series. I agree in the fact that it is REALLY cracked out in the beginning but you get used to it after you start reading it. Here I am 4 books later and I can't stop reading till the end!!
I recommend this series completely if you are into genderbender and cracked out plot!!

I'm hoping that everyone is willing to give this one time to get good, it seems very very very strange when you start it. I almost backed out of it alot of time, but the weirdness drew me in trying to figure out what was going on. It's really a great series and so well thought out. The twists and turns were mind blowing! At one point, I had to walk away and think about what just happened. XD It's really an amazing and well developed series.

Seriously. I mean, it's not so deep that you sit there and tilt your head, and think, and go... "OH!" ten days later. It's just... mind blowing and good and full of twists and turns and surprises. It really is a fast read! I agree though, at times the characters were SO annoying, especially the shifting love triangle as I think someone else mentioned. But it really did make up for it, and it almost made sense in a way?

Anyways I can not tell you how many times I passed this up! But really, don't, it was a lot better than my expectations!



I'm definitely reading it again at some point to see if I can get anything more out of it with all you learn... I'm sure it will be like reading a new story

This manga is easily one of the strangest series I've ever read. The ending was superb. The only reason I didn't give this a ten was because the characters are incredibly annoying and frustrating throughout it. However, the ending definitely saved everything. I highly recommend this manga. It's a quick manga, and you won't regret it.

After School Nightmare's been a doozy of a ride - on one hand, I've loved it and sometimes I just couldn't stand it. Mashiro's indecisiveness, his weakness, and the melodramatic love triangle that shifts throughout the story..It's all quite thrilling, amusing - but it seems tiresome and exasperating all at once. I think After School Nightmare is just a bit too much to be good - a bit too absorbing and anxiety stricken.. But every moment, I've went on to keep reading. Psychologically,I've adored it especially with the imaginative depictions of each one's inner soul. I can't say I love it, but neither can I admit it was a waste of time. I've enjoyed it the whole way though, and I guess it's been a fun time reading~

I really liked this story, and the theme about finding and accepting yourself for what you are. But the end was too abstract and contradicting compared to what has happened throughout the manga. This makes me drop the rating of Houkago Hokenshitsu.

The ending shouldn't keep you from reading it, though.

I will not writte much about this story because I think same comments below are really good (like the big ones) and my english too is not the best.
One think I dindn't agree for the comments that I had already read was the ones that tell the manga was rather cliché that's not actually true and the people that has already read chapter 33 know that...
You must read it if you are looking for a interesting story and yes the way the characters behae is very anoying but nothing you couln't suport and they too have their reasons ... I too don't agree with the last comment Ichigo should has suported Sou but wouldn't you leave a person who says that might be using you ?... even the most simpatic person probably would kill his boyfriend after hear this.
Also the whole story about graduation has some misterious you would like to discover.
It's sad that nowadays people kill the mangakas when they do interesting and diferent storys ...
