This is a really unique manga. From the start, you get drawn in from its originality, but you keep reading because in my opinion its a genuinely great manga! It's getting stretched quite a bit, probably because the mangaka wants to draw as much out of his succes as possible, but it remains entertaining. Following this to see how it'll all end. Recommended!!

The best

Easily the best romantic comedy manga I've read so far, and probably the best manga in general. Of course, I am a huge fan of the way the mangaka portrays this relationship so slowly. He does so very deliberately and even makes a speech about it in one volume. It's just cuter this way, and I grow weary of the "a kiss defines a relationship" idea found in half the other romantic comedies out there.
Urabe has to be one of the most interesting characters ever. I've noticed complaints about a lack of history about her, but that's probably pretty deliberate as well, since it is about Tsubaki's mysterious girlfriend, ya know.
There are definitely some oddities throughout the series, can't deny that...
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Everything from his ex being willing to strip, people being far too accepting of trying drool, and possibly the Oka-Urabe bond. Or the most mysterious thing is the voice Urabe heard at first...
but it's more believable than a typical harem.
One GLARING issue was definitely Ueshiba's poor portrayal of the typical celebrity arc. But alas, I don't believe the romantic comedy is out there where the celebrity arc wasn't a drag.
All in all, the mangaka does his best to break out of the mold that the others in the style have set down, and yet still follows his own formula regularly. Cute and light-hearted, and yet rather fetish-y at points, definitely a fantastic read for rom-com lovers.

A exellent read

Ok first I would like to say that this manga is exellent.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
Now i would like to say that people seem to misunderstand the hero's perdicument. He doesn't need drool everyday it took some time before the sickness kicked in (looking at the first chapter, and for those who say but it was the next day prove it, Authors intentionally don't put time down so they aren't bound by that constraint.) So the Hero doesn't need drool everyday it just makes it easier. Now i will say that it is painfully slow but that is because the hero has no guts. The heroin is very understanding of his feeling and she is giving him hints but he is to dense and a coward to fallow them. Personally i like how the girls control the guys it is better then all this other shojo crap where the girl get played around with.

idk...this manga is one of the most original manga that i ever readed
but somehow..somewhere...the heart warming story, just became anoying
it is a good plot...but it was too much prolonged, and it has way too much filler now.

about filler...we already have shounen jump to do that
at least shounen jump is weelky not monthly
waiting about one month to read filler is pissing me off

Weird but to my taste.

One word to sum it up ... Weird.
BUT it's not unlikeable, in fact I even loved it (10/10) and I definately do not have any kind of drool related fetish.
The art is ... um ... good in it's own way I guess.
The male protagonist is your average boy while the girl is mysterious, weird and (in my opinion) likeable.
Even though I think of this manga as weird, it doesnt make you think too deeply about it, it even manages to stay lighthearted and refreshing which is what made me love this manga in all its weirdness (I think).

as i said it's good and fun to read, but for some reason i kept wishing her drool had something in that would turn him into a vampire or something XD
but really the art is good, and it's unique, i'm really looking forward to what's coming next ^^

Edit:
after a while you get bored with it, it's really slow! >.>
I just finished reading ch.1! it was good and daring XD i like it, and i'd like to thank Eval Powar for the fast release ^^

I honestly dont know why I keep reading this...

The last arc was meaningless. I'm tired of fillers there's no couple/character development.
It WAS a good manga long time ago but now it´s just fillers and meaningless arcs. It lacks professionalism from the mangaka/editor/publisher

Koineko without cats

2010: Most of my thoughts have already been addressed. Honestly I was waiting for more supernatural elements to return, but its turning out that the girl is just a deviant normal and not some mysterious being as I was hoping. The surreal dream sequences in the first volume have faded out, and the series stabilized, with the setting becoming a normal school in Japan (to my chargin.)

One plothole that annoyed me is how the beginning if the main character didn't drink her drool he
would have withdrawal syndromes and sickness, but by chapter 48 he can go a week without her.
Another plothole is in the earlier chapters drinking saliva could show a vivid mental image of the other person, maybe even a memory...but in more recent chapters all it does is give you the feelings of the other person, which are often misinterpretted by the recipitant.

There are some other examples of the author seemingly reversing himself, but I can forgive that since his first one shot was in 2004. I'm just glad the author had the common sense to let time flow in the series (1 year so far), which lets you suspend your belief and accept that the characters could potentially change in that year...not that they change enough....Considering how much the two interact and exchange bodily fluids and share their feelings mentally, you'd think there would at least be able to hug each other by now....The main character, henceforth to be referred to by me as Rei ayanami's cute emo-kawaii syster, is really living up to the title.

One thing that cheapens the series is it's attatchment to fate. Instead of having characters decide they really love each other for their personality quirks, there's a tendency to say "your saliva tastes better;" that physical aspect is as shallow as saying "I keep dating you because I like the color of your hair, or your breasts are bigger than other girls," and it gives up the opportunity for a monologue and the character deciding why he really likes the other person more. The idea of
being bound together by fate is also a cop-out, since it denies the characters the tension from not knowing whether they'll keep their partner or not.

Overall the series is structured like koineko, with a loyal girlfriend devoted and bound to her man. While I enjoy reading it, it has become more of an escapism than the what-if of the surreal beginning, and I hope he just hurries up and has the characters kiss, hug, make-out or do whatever they need to advance to the next stage of development and dramatic tension.

2014 update:
Everything I said stands. The ending was dreadful...absolutely nothing happened despite nearly a hundred chapters. The poor sexually repressed kid stays sexually repressed. I advise against reading this manga past the first volume. Trust me, there is no further plot advancement, and no closure.

Unique...

After reading the description for this series last year, it sounded so ridiculous that I had to check it out, and I've very glad I did.

The story is simple and engaging, and fairly unique. Each chapter is well written, and you can't help but have a bit of a smile on your face after you've finished reading one.

Who'd have thought a manga about drool would be this good?
