Relation

i will start by saying that i consider this one of the best romantic series i have ever read, and i will highly suggest that everyone reads it. I will admit there are some parts where the story stagnates slightly but, if u have time push through to the end. The reason i beleive this is so good is probably because it reminds me so much of my own life, and i hope everyone else can see some relation too but for me this manga is special since it is a reminder of what could have been. maybe some other people dont have the feeling yet or cant relate so they end up being haters but, i beleive that this is made by one of my favorite mangakas as they are able to create a new world that mirrors the feelings and events of this one, sure the real world isnt that echi (most of the time) but i beleive the relation a person will feel to this manga definetly makes it a good read, maybe even one of the best

best romance comedy EVEEERR!

HOLY CRAP!!! Never have i felt the need to express my appreciation to ANY MANGA before..... and i've read a TON!!! this is one of the few series that i felt actually tugged at the reader's heart... Granted... the first few chapters were kind of lame... but as the story progressed, it became more immersive and was just... impossible to stop reading!!!

the personalities of the female characters were very distinct, something few mangas have when it comes to harems... and the romance was ACTUALLY THERE!!! love hina is a great example of a romantic comedy were comedy outweighted the romance 100:1 ... but in ICHIGO 100%... OMG IT'S JUST SO GOOD AND FULLFILING!!!!

all the talk about dreams realized and heartbreak and love actually gives the manga emotion... i read the whole series in 5 days because i just couldn't stop once i started reading.... the emotional rollercoster relates soo much to actualy life... it makes me wish i was a japanese student though >_<

art was fantastic, i like the storyline better then the art though, but the way the mangaka drew out the emotions and the tears were FANTABULOUS!!! i wish the series would just keep going and talk about their life in and after college years...

i give this manga a 500/10 .... read it now or you will forever regret it!

panties, lots of panties

yeah that's what about ichigo, a story about strawberry panties. don't get me wrong, i like ichigo, i really do but i think it will be way much better without unnecessary panty shots and ecchi scenes. i mean you see manaka and your favourite heroine having a very romantic or very serious conversation and out of nowhere here comes a wind and voila strawberry panties. this scenes repeats so many times and postpones so many events that in the end you become tired. its a long story and it has many useless chapters, characters according to me, but nevertheless its entertaining yet the ending is not that satisfying, you know, its really rushed but good enough for me.

well ichigo is good but what is special in this manga, is Nishino, oh god she's such a cutie that i want to cry every time i see her, not only for her looks but for her character as well, she's just perfect. you must read ichigo just for the sake of Nishino

I gave it rating of 10 because I'm nice like that, it doesn't represent anything.

So what I liked about this manga?
Firstly, Ecchi scenes! They where more or less done well, they created a nice feeling of anticipation while staying innocent at the same time.
The art, I didn't really pay much attention to it, so it doesn't distract from story, that I think is a good thing. I liked some facial expressions at times, but other than that nothing more to say.
There could be some more minor characters involvement, since the world created by author seemed a bit empty and... well, even dead at times.
The girl trio had a lot of potential, since you get two who are polar opposites and one who's something of a middle ground, but it wasn't used almost at all, since romantic plot was moved by tripping and falling on each other revealing panties.
Oh and something else to complain about, after 167 chapters, I was expecting to know characters a bit better and become more intimate with them.

Overall liked it. Was a bit hard to finish in one go though.

This is without a doubt one of the best manga's I've read.
Yes some will complain the main character is weak and can't make up his mind but I found that truthful. I myself "though NOT in any sort of harem setting" always found myself out of touch with what I should do as far as girls whom I like and who liked me while I was a teenager. There were many times where the timing was just simply not there. And that's what this story is. It's a story as much about timing as about finding your own path in life and following it.
Was this perfect, no. If it was i would have given it a 10 There were a couple characters that in my opinion Manaka would have been happy with. But the choice he made was without a doubt the correct one. That is always the truest test of a harem style manga. Do you feel there is a right answer even when you have your own personal favorites, and in reality any choice made would be a good choice.

Strawberries, ponnies and chasing dreams

I can't say I read much shounen romance up to this point but starting this series I kinda knew what to expect. Cliched plot, lots of ecchi scenes, somewhat annoying main character. So from the very beginning I would not be disappointed by that stuff. General things out of the way first: art was ok nothing else, cliched plot, comedy wasn't there for me, found only a couple of scenes to make me laugh, drama moments are rare and quickly resolved and make little impact to the story.

Now, the main premise of any harem manga is, of course, having bunch of people falling in love with one person who then gets to decide his/her preference. All this is set up so the reader would usually take a pick of the favorite character and rooting for him/her throughout the series. Simplistic and repetitive concept but strangely efficient when coupled with decent writing. I finished this series in 4 days and still felt it outdrawn at the times when plot made no progress. Some chapters had no purpose there then being a filler. With all these flaws I could still not help it but attach myself to this manga till it's very end.

The main character, as I said before, proved to be mildly annoying. Many readers were irked by his indecisiveness. Stupid indecisive prick, is what I fell he is at times but still has some good sides to him and I could not make myself to actually hate him. Now on to the female characters, the harem part. I will put this in a spoiler.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Let's start with Aya. I don't like her, plain and simply. She falls for the mc from the very beginning but never acts upon it until the very end. Yes, Manaka helped her out of her shell, made her fell more confidence about her writing and shared his dream that she accepted as her own. And that's it. Their exchange is limited to that. All this receives no further development other than Aya finally realizing she has her own path in life to follow. She felt kinda pathetic.

I have few things to say about Satsuki. When she appeared at first I liked her character. She was very outgoing, aggressive even and her relationship with Manaka builds over time with them having similar tastes. But then, a disaster. She uses only her body to seduce him. Her aggression spills over and she strips naked in front of him, forces herself on to him, even tries to rape him couple of times. So Satsuki surfaces as a one trick pony she is and builds my dislike towards her. Mangaka even tried to drop her from the race two time always bringing her back like she couldn't figure out what else to do with her afterwards.

Now the main course, Tsukasa. For me the most enjoyable character of the entire series. She's not too passive and not too aggressive and falls down the middle of the previous two. She is nice but not lenient like Aya, has backbone and tends to speak her mind but is not overly obtrusive like Satsuki. With Manaka Tsukasa is both kind and harsh at times but always showing her love and loyalty. At one point she dumps him but soon comes back and is ready to wait for him to make up his mind. Not that Manaka did anything to deserve this but whatever.

All this being said, the ending didn't came as much of a shock really. I read other people comment's and was quite surprised to see many readers not expecting it. I pretty much dropped Aya as a likely candidate to end up with mc early in the series. Doubt about this prediction did surface in the last couple of volumes but throughout the series I gave more chances to Yui than Aya. As I mentioned before, her and Manaka's relationship receives no development. They like each other from the start but neither does anything about it. You need more than initial liking for relationship to works. Many people think that they were fated to be together but that is stupid. I am honestly glad that fated couple/number thing at the festival didn't get further advancement. That would be moronic. Opposite to this you have Tsukasa who took more active role. She didn't seek to get close to Manaka by following him to the same school. She took her time with him, going slowly and building up and coming out on top by showing great character development. Even her ecchi scenes served to a purpose of advancing their relationship, unlike the others'. Had Manaka ended up with some other girl all that build up would be in vain. The ending itself was classical "x years later" type. It has a small degree of openness to it. Manaka is still on his way of becoming a successful movie director and his relationship whit Tsukasa starts over with their future relying solely upon them. I tend to like it.

So overall, it was an enjoyable read. The series got me going but it was in no way that good for me wanting to read it again sometimes.

Still My Favorite

i've read a lot of mangas over the years and yet this one still manages to remain as my most favorite one. The characters of this story really just makes you feel connected to them. And i agree with dannyboy95 when he mentioned how we actually understand why each of the girls fall in love with the main character. Though i may be biased because this manga was among the first ive ever read.

In my opinion though the anime is better than the manga but they're both defiantly a 10. also because of this manga, i havent been able to read love hina which i feel (after reading a couple chapters of it) is not as good as this manga.

Pros: The art was nice. The constant twists and turns keep you wanting to read more.

Cons: OK, here is why the ending sucks. It has nothing to do with which girl you personally like the best, or which you think is the best for the lead character. The ending sucks because it means that he put Toujou (and himself) through the wringer for four years for absolutely nothing. It says everything that they only way the author could think of to keep people from dying from pity for Toujou was to make her an extreme, world-class success in her career. Otherwise, she'd just have been this shy girl who fell for an idiot, then went on to a mundane life emotionally damaged.

Also, there was no way this needed to be as long as it did. How many times to we really need to see character X trip and land on character Y, and then have character Z appear and jump to the wrong conclusion? Apparently, this author thinks 50+.

Ultimately, there is a big difference between something that uses tricks to make you want to keep reading and something which is actually enriching and thought-provoking.

Good art and decent writing for the most part. Light ecchi scenes, especially compared to a lot of the stuff out now, but plentiful.

There was a lot of flip flopping going on in the story though and the main male is your arch-typical weakling popular with all the girls. There was a tendency to tack on additional characters that went nowhere to pad out the story. Some were fun. Most were forgettable.

All in all, this was a decent read. It began fun and silly and it slowly matured yet retained a sense of humor. The ending wasn't great but it wasn't terrible either and it ended organically. Compared to so many other series nowadays, that is pretty damn good.

Good manga.

The first time I read it, it was awesome. The ending was very very nice, and something of a twist, but that was actually cause you were only expecting a twist.

The second time, it was still good, although I paused several times in completeting it. I read a different translation for the final chapter, and it took away some of the coolness of it: the first 1: "Can you make my heart flutter once more?" Second one: "Can you excite again?" Not as cool.

I have to say, now that I'm thinking back, the series doesn't seem too fun. It seems to me that the ending leaves something of a bad taste in people's mouths, which is why it recieves such bad scores. I personally think that the ending is very nice, although may have been better and different. A real slice of life ending.

The more times that you read this, the worse it'll get, basically. The ecchi is one of those "ha...." things, where it's fun to see but basically feels even more useless than average fan service. The man character is just plain annoying, damn, the indecisiveness the made way too freaking apparent. They added way too many girls in the series, probably 2-3 more girls than the series needed.

Art is awesome, just plain awesome. The mangaka is one of those very beautifully styled artists. Always between B+ to A for this artist, particularly for the girls.

The comedy... as said, is a bit based on the ecchi factor, which sort of sucks. The real laugh out loud moments are few and far between, although they exist.

There's actual romance in the story. Harem-ecchi-romance-comedy mangas are sorta... bad at that, honestly. Everyone in a generic harem-ecchi-romance-comedy is basically some incarnation of Love Hina characters, a general tsunade, but the character development in Ichigo 100 is there. Only satsuki's really a tsunade, and even that's gone later on.

And speaking of satsuki... damn, I hate the author for that. I mean, she never even had a freaking chance, did she?
