In the Spring she was 16, Takamiya Naho receives a strange, but detailed letter from herself, ten years in the future. At first she thinks the letter is a prank, but then the things written in the letter actually happen, including the new transfer student that sits next to her in class, Naruse Kakeru. The letter reads just like her diary entries, down to the same characters. It is not till two weeks later, when Kakeru shows back up at school, that Naho finishes the letter. Suwa is the greatest friend of all time. Personally for me, just misses getting into my circle of favorites. YMMV, generally highly recommended.

This is a quality manga; this is one that has a good probability of tugging at your heartstrings.
This really deserves a longer review. I'm at a stage of my life in which I can no longer really spend the time on on a detailed breakdown. Fortunately, lots of longer reviews here. I figured I would just do some part to contribute some more words on MU. MU never die! Manga reviews are spread thin now across here, AniList, MyAnimeList, Good Reads, etc., but MU 100% is still the best database for manga.
Alright, I suppose I should move onto my brief thoughts about Orange.
What I did not like:
-The series really did not need an expository explanation for its time travel mechanism. Time travel always gets much lamer when talk of parallel universes, paradoxes, and physics gets more than a brief mention. The ultimate explanation for how the group achieves their time travel in
-Kakeru and Naho could have used a few more character quirks. The series could have also fleshed out Ueda a little bit more. It seemed like she was also in a bad mental place.
What I did like:
+Sadness, ruminating regret, and familial depression are fortunately handled in a much more sensitive and measured manner than the time travel mechanism, which is obviously much better than if vice versa were the case. This series will stick with me because of how grounded and sensible Kakeru's struggle with his mental health felt. It felt so real that Kakeru kept having setbacks, that his friends had to strive so fervently for Kakeru to be able to realize small improvements. It also felt much more lifelike that the series did not culminate with Kakeru being ultimately cured. Yes, the group is able to change the future and
+Especially in the last volume, I think the series beautifully delivers the wisdom that we will always have regrets and demons to work through. And ultimately, who is to say that one future is better than the other?
Will read Orange Future soon to see if it provides a nice coda. For the time being, I will wrap up by saying that Orange concluded with a feel-good warmth that felt earned through the hard work of friendship and love. It was not saccharine. The pacing was well done and the characters had believable arcs. This is a rewarding, life-affirming work.
Love and cherish your friends, people.

guessing correctly that there was a black hole in the Bermuda triangle
was so hokey that it momentarily jarred me out of a really moving part of the story. If you are working on a time travel story in which the science of the time travel is not directly related to the plot, please, your characters don't need to actually cite physics technobabble. They can just be confused and accept that miracles are happening. (Also, see Netflix's Dark for another example of poorly handled time travel exposition that distracts and weighs down the story with nonsense.)-Kakeru and Naho could have used a few more character quirks. The series could have also fleshed out Ueda a little bit more. It seemed like she was also in a bad mental place.

Kakeru opts to not throw himself in front of a vehicle at that particular moment in time, but it is clear that Kakeru's struggle has not neatly come to an end. He is dealing with an affliction that will likely crop up in episodes throughout the rest of his life

It was profoundly sad in the panels close to the end where the friends ask Suwa whether he is okay with a future in which he does not marry Naho and have a child with her; Ichigo Takano drew a memorable expression for Suwa that exuded wistfulness and uncertainty.

DAMN IT. This manga breaks me. A gem. I'm so glad I've read this. This is not your typical shoujo manga. Sure it has its cliches but, man, it tugs your heartstrings every single chapter. Kakeru just suffocates me not in a bad way but that just means that the mangaka is really good at getting these kinds of feelings across the reader. It has a similar feel to Kyou no Kira-kun but this just breaks my heart.
I'm also torn between Kakeru and Suwa though I like Suwa better (goddammityouresuchagoodguy).

Such a unique and original plot with great relatable characters. So glad its being continued because I would hate for this story to be left unfinished, as it is awesome!
But its really sad, so if you like light-hearted manga, then this isn't for you as every time I read it, I almost always end up crying ;_;. Really good and really recommend.

This is so amazing and unique and I can't wait for more. I've never really thought of a parallel universe in a manga. And I think this is the first manga where I've genuinely loved both male leads and want both of the to have her.

And if all goes according to plan and they manage to save Kakeru in this universe, then they both will get her. AHHH I LOVE THIS!

I am so far really enjoying this series, it's not your typical shojo, I must admit. The story adds a supernatural aspect in the main character receiving a letter from the future, detailing the worries of her future self.
I liked the chracterisation of the heroine, she can be undecisive, but she still turns out to be really likable. The pacing is also really good, not too slow nor rushed, and I liked how
But yeah, this is a manga I'd definitely continue to follow and recommend to others.

the story skips from present to past. I was confused about this aspect but the mangaka introduced the idea of a parallel universe, which I found was more appropriate. The only reason that this story doesn't get a 10 from me is because the main guy seems so distant, and I couldn't really connect with him, nor understand his thoughts :/
But yeah, this is a manga I'd definitely continue to follow and recommend to others.

Orange is a truly amazing and unique manga that pulls at your heartstrings.
It stands out among the many slice of life shoujo manga out there.
It's a beautiful bittersweet story that has the presence of tragedy.
I was sucked into this story right from chapter one, and I highly recommend others to give this a shot.
Being told that Kakeru dies 10 years into the future leaves readers anxious as they read on. Naho, although is quite shy and (cowardly?) - she slowly changes things as she realizes her feelings for Kakeru and the foreboding consequences if she doesn't straighten up.
This idea of paralleled worlds and in essences "time travel" with letters that Future Naho sends to Present Naho really adds to the uniqueness of Orange.
I am truly amazed with this story.

Just read the first 4 chapters and I can tell by now that this is a great work!
If you read this, ou get so man feelings yourself while reading: happiness, sorrow, worr, hope...
It's all in this manga.
This story has a very appealing atmosphere and the way of transporting all the feelings and thoughts to the reader are made perfectly.
I'm totally following this one...!

I totally agree with the previous comments. This manga is great! The story is really intriguing, the characters adorable - especially Naho, Kakeru and Suwa - and Ichigo Takano's art is cute and lovely. I can't wait to read the new chapters! *_* The whole atmosphere reminds me of "Sunadokei", "Bokura Ga Ita" and "Ao Haru Ride", so if you like these manga you should give "Orange" a try as well.
