Although a truly gifted hairstylist, Kiri Koshiba has no interest in using her talent to pursue fame and fortune, unlike the three popular boys in the "Scissors Project" at school. Determined to become the best makeover team in Japan, they give showy makeovers to handpicked girls. As much as Kiri tries to shy away from the Scissors Project spotlight, she finds herself responding to beauty's call...
Note: Beauty Pop Stage 2 is from volume 7 to 10. It is a continuation of Beauty Pop. This is because they were published after the hiatus. The whole series ends with 10 volumes.

good. But could have been so much more
Theres no doubt that this is good. It has everything i look for in a manga romance, comedy, good art, great story line, i always love rivalry and a strong female lead. How ever i feel like this manga could have been so much more. it was all set up with great characters and a good plot but it dident really live up to my expatiations it was kinda a let down. The ending felt really rushed and i was very disappointed with it. you read 51 chapters that all lead up to.......not that much. i was disappointed with this it could have been so much more.

I usually only enjoy fantasy and action, but this was a great change of pace for me and I actually enjoyed it. I didn't get bored with it at all and had a great time reading it. It had cute romance and some humor. Also, the main character was unique (she wasn't like every other shoujo main character). I liked the art and I reccomend this to anyone looking to read a great manga.
The story was enjoyable. At first, the plot seems repetitive with them only trying to make girls look good but as the story goes on, it progressed. It's about making girls beautiful and yet they have pretty unexpected characters for the role. When I first read the summary, I thought this wouldn't be that good but seems like I was wrong.
The art is really good. I love it. This was actually one of my favorite manga.
The characters are amazing. Kiri (the female lead) is unlike any other shoujo heroines. She's a hairstylist who just act cool and doesn't cry easily.A really admirable character. I love her stoic expressions and how she just doesn't seem to care. On the other hand, Narumi (the male lead) is an equally enjoyable character himself. He seems like a kid and likes to show off. He thinks of Kiri as a rival and I just can't help think that their perfect for each other.
The romance was a bit slow but at least no one fell in love after the first chapter or the girl fell in love because the main guy was always protecting her and blah blah blah... I really liked the sort of romance applied here since I was getting tired of good girl makes bad boy good.
For me this manga was so very almost perfect. It would have got a full 10 if it didn't seem as though it jumped from the ambiguous last scene to many years later. The ending is usually the let down of most manga though. It was a nice ending but I felt like I would have enjoyed a bit more elaboration on how things came about and people's reactions and stuff like that. Not sure if there is some kind of manga that follows the series though. Anyways on the manga as a whole it was an enjoyable, pleasant read with a strong female lead character and an amusingly second-place lead male which made it very appealing to me Definitely recommended.
OUT POPS THE....CAT NAMES SHAMPOO XD
i simply LOVED this! The relationships developed (the end) ! The talent (hair)! The CHARACTERS...AWESOME FEMALE LEAD!!!!!!! I love her cat shampoo! Just pops out of no-where XD The Love triangle formed! Read this now or you'll regret it! HIGHLY RECCOMENEDED!
I agree that there wasn't much depth to any of the characters, nor did they really develop. It was cute, Kiri was cool (could have done without the rest of the gang), and some parts made me smile, but the same scenario kept happening over and over and over again. This manga could have been half as long.
Also don't like how the ending was handled, at all.
I quite liked the characters. The plot's a bit repetitive up until about chapter 30, though; I honestly think I could have lived without about 15 chapters in between 15 and 30. Then from 30 on it gets quite good and entertaining and actually goes somewhere.
best manga ever
this manga has the best of the best heroine ever, KIRI-chan is like the coolest (i hope there are some other mangas or yet more mangas that has a kiri chan -like heroine because almost all shojo are like clumsy and cry babies) anyways, this manga is so hilarious you cant just stop laughing and the thing is once youve started with it you cant just stop reading it.
the ending was also cute, over all two thumbs up or shall i say BRAVO to the author,
Interesting main character
First of all let me say i'm a guy and because i'm a guy my rating will obviously be biased. I came upon this manga because i was searching for a different female character, i was sick and tired of cry babys and that sort of lot. Kiri makes this manga good. If it wasn't for her and her particular way of life, so to speak, i would haver never, in a million years, read this story. I managed to overlook the theme, the other majority of the cast, who are annoying to be honest, and the tame plot because Kiri is amazing! That's not to say that it's rubbish, it isn't, i actually enjoyed the last chapters, but it was so over the top. Still it's a lot better that several manga i've read, it doesn't have the: oh does he like me? oh what do i do? sort of dialogue and plot that annoys me to no end. Give it a go for you won't find many more characters like Kiri.
Patience is a virtue...
Most people seem to either love this one or find it really dull... To be honest I picked this one up once and got bored only to return in another couple of months for want of something to read.
It's true the romance comes slow and late and not in especially hot-n-heavy rushes. but once you get to know the characters you realize that this was the only way to proceed with it. During this theire tender moments were that much more enjoyable.
The story can be a little over the top, but it had to be if it wanted to work. Realistically, a story about hairdressers/beauticians would not be that climactic... (Iori and his aromatherapy makes me shake my head every time)
Once you accept both of these things its actually really sweet and easy to read. (Oh and imagine that every time a new rival appeared it was like a coin operated fighting game, it makes it funny.) I enjoy the diversity of characters even if they were slightly extreme examples. Narumi really charmed me after a time and continues to be my favourite even though through the first few chapters I found him annoying.
Stick with this one if you want a fun, silly, light read and you wont be disappointed. If you do stick around the ending is all warm and fuzzy and tied up with a bow.
