Some Information Obtained: The story involves human mutations called "Diclonius", who grow horns on their heads and possess telekinetic powers, in the form of invisible "arms" called vectors.
The tendency for violence among Diclonii varies among characters. Certain scientists contain them in a Facility in cells, where they are subject to inhumane experiments to test their abilities or where they await execution for being too dangerous.
An infectious virus is also associated with the mutation. This virus is spread through non-lethal contact with the vectors of a diclonius.
The main non-mutant character in the story is Kouta, who ends up becoming increasingly involved with these dicloniuses, as they seek refuge from the scientists.
The main diclonius character is Lucy/Nyuu, a killer whose alter ego is a hapless and very cute child whose vocabulary and intelligence are quite limited.
After a large amount of choice occurrences, the lives of these two characters become inexplicably intertwined.

Is it just me???
I think this one is a good manga, nice strory and all (maybe the art is not that good), but did you already read Psychic Academy.... is and older manga that has a lot of things like ELFEN( escept for the blood)
Wrung my hear.
I have watched the anime before I got to read the manga and I could honestly say that, the manga had more potency and impact than what I got from the anime.
Okamoto Lynn has certainly made a great work with this series..
I just can't.
I have tried three separate times to get into this comic and have failed horribly every time. I don't know why I cannot get into it. It looks awesome and i am not against the violence or story but for some reason i zone out while trying to read it. Maybe I am not meant to read it (there must be a secret trigger word in it that will make me go insane). I assume (ass-u-me) that it is a good story but I wouldn't know. I give it an 8/10 anyway because chicks that kill are HAWT (even non-human chicks).

This manga has an amazing story that touches on the complex issues of love, war, morality, and survival. It also has plenty of solid character development; most of the characters are touched by love and war. There is a lot of gore, but it fits in perfectly with the violent setting of the story and highlights the intensity of the conflicts.
I can't talk about the manga anymore without spoiling it, but I would definitely recommend it to everyone.

Clearly a 10/10
Lucy: When you're miserable, you need to make someone even more miserable than yourself. Lucy: The ones who aren't human... the ones who aren't people... Are you! Bandoh: I pull the trigger, the gun goes off. The beach gets bloody and you get dead. Kurama: Warmth and love. I'm the one who took everything from you... Nana: Give me back my leg..
These are just the most interesting quotes from the anime... If you want more watch it, and also read the manga. It's worth it. It may not be the bloodiest anime ever, but it still rules, personally I've read the manga twice, and watch the anime 3times and I still can't get enough of it. It probably is Okamoto Lynn's best work.

i honestly liked it at first. it was seriously really interesting. after a while it kinda loss it's luster and i skipped around with it a bit (just a few chapters near the end). i did end up reading the last few chapters, but i still felt that i really didnt like it. it was a pretty happy ending for an insanely depressing series, which i'd normally like as a breath of air from all the disgustingly happy series, but this was depressing to the point where it didnt make any sense. artwork isnt the best either, especially with the human body movements being very awkward and strange most of the time.

This is the only manga that has made me feel sick. It starts out so innocent...and then....argh.
It's not the gore either, it's just that every single time you start to feel happy for one of the characters, they get hit in the face with a brick called "Reality".
So depressing, but so good
Unique, i call this a masterpiece
EDIT: Finally, the story has reached its end, truly an enjoyable manga, its a piece of art, really gore nonetheless, but i loved it, the manga ends the most logical and realistic way, sadly im still longing for the Aftermatch stuff, which i hope will come soon, damn... its over
I saw the anime long time ago, i was incredibly touched by the way this anime was made, its a fresh experience and left me touched for years to come, the opening song, Lilium is absolutely beautiful, recently i read the manga, its a crude manga, buts its an incredible masterpiece, from beginning to end ur hooked, personally i take the echi and gory parts as the way the autor would assume this as reality in a case like this, reality about a murderous magical being would just be gory beyond imagination this manga has a rough gory representation of this, i ABSOLUTELY love this manga, the story is solid and its hearth touching, cant find anything bad about this manga, im simply touched every time i read it and analize it. 10+

all in one package
comedy, romance, violence...all in one package. not that i disliked it, but i think its just too much bloody part. but i like the plot though, that's why i keep the rating high.
The story and characters is just utterly amazing. The consistency of the characters through the series is what makes it even better. None of that evil to good nonsense. The misleading cover and title of the manga is what made me even more shocked. Awsome brutality a definite must for guro fans. Nothing like psychos that want to be god to add spice to any story. I hope you will love Bandou as much as I did.
