Description
From Yen Press:
Maka is a weapon meister, determined to turn her partner, a living scythe named Soul Eater, into a powerful death scythe — the ultimate weapon of Death himself! Charged with the task of collecting and devouring the tainted souls of ninety-nine humans and one witch, Maka and her fellow meisters strive to master their weapons as they face off against the bizarre and dangerous minions of the underworld. But the meisters’ own personal quirks may prove a bigger obstacle than any sultry enchantress.

There's plot under the fluff, but not worth finding.

It's one of those mangas I can't really get excited about, and honestly, don't really like, but read compulsively anyway... Sort of like Inuyasha. At least for this manga there is a layer of good plot somewhere in there... It's just that in this case it's covered in layers of annoying characters.

The assassin who wants to show off, the powerful prince who has OCD and demands that everything be neat and symmetrical, the inconsistent moral system (it's okay to slaughter witches en masse and take their souls, unless of course that witch gets a bit of page-time, in which case they deserve infinite mercy), and the generally excessively lighthearted attitude all annoy me a bit, and yet, I find myself drawn in...

This manga is well done. The plot is paced accordingly, art has a consistent distinct style, and the characters have depth. What Soul Eater does that so many other do not, is maintain a good balance between character development and plot development. It does not overwhelm readers the way others do.

BONES picked up this series to animate because it has solid material to make into a successful anime.

Like everyone else says the art is great (reminds me of tim burton in a way) and the plot was a little slow at first but sped up and caught me and kept me reading.
also the fan servoce with Blair is the best!

also the fan service is awesome XD

The manga and the show is just one of the best shonen i ever read. So far their no over superpowered main character each person in the series is useful plus they all have interesting personalities. I feel this show is really above all these typical shonen series becuse the character. Hopefully the storyline develop even more interesting story.

I actually really like it, because its so funny.
I'm fond of the art, and the only thing I dislike about it
is the all the fan service (middle of kick-ass battle, they suddenly have a page with the cat-witch in a tub. >.o Has nothing to do with it...)
The plot is classic shounen, but I don't mind. I haven't read enough anyhow(shounen). I suggest people give it a try. You can watch the anime too, its following the same storyline so far (and the fights look so much cooler!!)

These series are quite good. The prologues may be a bit slow but it's recommendable to hold on till the real story starts. The more you advance, the better it gets, so I suppose the mangaka is the type that improves the more he works. The art is nicely done and very well adapted. What I really like is the treatment of the insanity in everyone but I still hope to see how it will develop. And I really like Soul, one of the few characters I've seen out there who knows how to behave in front of the easy-to-get power.

I'm sorry, but I just have to say that this manga is superior to almost everything I'vve ever read in terms of art style, originality and presentation. One thing after another just pieces together so well. And it's an anime so when you finish an episode and find out theres more in the manga you're just bound to read it!

The action is quite enjoyable but the kiddy fanservice is however bothersome.
If you managed to do go past it,you'll enjoy reading the series for its actions scenes.

Whew! I watched the 1st episode of the anime and it already pawned me!! It's freaking cool! The fight scenes are superb to the maximum level! Although the ambiance is a little disturbing since it's my first time to stumble such art style, it's really worth it. The manga is also a great work, although it needs a little bit of cleaning from the rough inking. Hell, so far, this is the best among the NEW anime categories out there. It's really worth watching and reading

At first, I thought the art was a bit weird, but then I got used to it, lol.
This series is definitely wonderful, even though I get bored at some parts. C:

Definitely recommended! ♥
