Incredibly Cute and Very Entertaining

It's easy to see why this is so highly rated in Japan, and here on mangaupdates -- Kanau is a cute, believable character, and the story, while somewhat fantastic, is quite appealing. Superficially, the idea of an otaku-type suddenly having a daughter forced upon him is funny and entertaining, but more importantly, underneath that pop-culture front is a great story that explores the meaning of family, parenthood, responsibility and love. Though it's light-hearted, and sometimes relies on cheap dramatic cliches or comedy, the characters really shine, and I've been eagerly awaiting each new chapter release (19, as of this writing).
OnM does require some prior understanding of Japanese culture pertaining to the otaku lifestyle. Although most of what you'd need to understand for the story to make sense can be inferred via dialogue, some of the comedy will probably benefit from an understanding of the subculture.
Reminds me a bit of Chokkoto Sister, though I think that while the "cute" factor is about the same in both, OnM has better characters.
Well worth your time. Definitely read this.

i dont think it has anything to do with a prepubescent girl persay, i mean its just the fact that he has a 9yr old daughter, its just a story about a father and daughter, i doubt the mangaka meant to create a female who would attract the new generation of males...if it is then im assuming it was totally unintentional! well anyway, im reading this story because i thought the idea of it was hilarious- i mean i never thought of an otaku having a daughter? lol...thats so original, the concept grabbed me, and i find it funny and amusing at the same time! i've only read 2 chaps so far so perhaps my review is a little askewed, but regardless, its a nice read when you want to read something of an original concept! =)

I find this series amusing. Though, I wonder sometimes how this found its way to become the number one webcomic in Japan. Then I remind myself that all is not right with the world, and the ideal busty women of the past is not the fantasy of the new generation, but rather of a prepubescent girl arriving at one's door like take-out. Unfortunately, I also fall into this caustic niche of geek society, so of course the antics aren't entirely amusing by themselves, but the very idea tickles my fancy.
This is not a series I pursue actively when I get the chance to buy manga, but it is one I wouldn't mind as a gift.

The manga only has 5 chapter scanlated, but it looks really promising. The art is good, the story is original.
The relation father/daughter is a bit strange, and the change in how the daugther sees her father is really interesting. From Ultra cool "papa" before she met him to a hentai, to a formal "father", to Otaku...
It's light hearted so far, no drama, it's really to my taste .

The beauty of fiction and fantasy is the way the real world and unreality mingle to create something of this world and at the same time is separate from it.
This manga straddles that very line.
An otaku who's not a virgin? Please. If life were that miraculous... But I digress.
Short chapters, can't wait for more. Occasional side-drawing in a somewhat abstract comedic style a la those kinds of mangas where most of the stuff is scribbled, but fortunately Otaku no Musume-San doesn't seem to overuse that.
I don't know whether this is a wish-fulfilment or nightmare fantasy, but it's interesting anyhoo.
Read only first two chapters.
EDIT: Iirc it turned crap.
