Couldn't stop reading

Maria is so brutally honest that she's everyone's reality check, which is why people can't hide who they really are, and also why everyone hates her. On the other hand, she's completely able to handle the situation and solve her problems. She's a tough character and someone everyone is attracted to. There are lots of side characters that you'll love to hate and some that you'll hate to love. But this isn't a manga with any romantic moments, rather it's something more about gaining redemption and obtaining cardio fortitude.

It was pretty good! Entertaining, to say the least. What kept me reading were the main character and the art.

Characters: 7/10

For one thing, I LOVE the main character and her personality/development. She's quite different from others you see in typical shoujo manga - she is smooth, not afraid to let out her emotions (no matter what kind - and this means that she's not afraid to cry, either). The best part about her is that she's SMART. In most shoujo manga, whenever there is a rivalry and the other girl pulls a trick, the main lead is ALWAYS oblivious to this. Not in this case. And there are MANY other examples in this manga where the heroine is depicted clever as well.

The only drawback to the characters are the side characters - bo-ring. Seriously. And trust me, I usually go for the side characters rather than the main ones. But here, it's the main characters that are interesting. Also, I really don't like how EVERY single female rival is almost always bi-polar. Once, she is sweet and innocent. Then, she's angsty and cruel. wtf? A character doesn't always have to have split personalities to be developed...sheesh!

Plot: 6/10

'cause really, it's your typical shoujo plot. Love triangles, fitting in school with others, dark past, unrequited love, bullying...blah, blah, blah. Nothing really THAT original.

Art: 9/10

AMAAAAAAZING. True, the side characters aren't much unique, but that improves in the later chapters. The shading is well done, the eyes, the facial structure, the poses...it's all beautiful.

I just love this manga! The girl is always composed and super honest. Other call it personality problems I call it honesty. She doesn't go all two-faced, more like she tells them what's in her mind and all. VERYY TOUGH. At first I would've thought of her gothic but now I do see how beautiful she is(as a manga character). This is definitely a must read!!!

I can't get enough of how brilliant this manga is! For instance the art!!!-most times I have to look at it twice, just to lap up the nicely done character poses! And the humour is fantastic too. I love the plot line and I love how the mangaka discusses the complexity of each individuals' personality. And I love the unique characters in the story too!

overall, loved it.

*waits anxiously for new volumes* XD

A-hole teachers like the one in this story definitely exist. Teachers are human and humans can be evil. Count yourselves lucky if you never met them. Also, any classroom can devolve into a group of bullies and morons especially if there is an open target like a single black kid in a classroom full of whites. (In my case, a single hotheaded Chinese kid in a classroom full of blacks.) As Tommy Lee Jones' character said in "Men in Black":

Quote
A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it.

"Kawai Maria" is a smart girl with a dumb mouth. She sees all the flaws people exhibit and she spouts out her observations with little to no restraint. The fact that it is easy to see those flaws in ourselves and those around us makes this a story worth reading. It is also a story that pisses you off every now and then. I'm not the only one here whose blood boils at the sight of the class's teacher. Read this and your's probably will too.

Not your average Shoujo manga

For starters, the lead girl is strong. And by strong I do not mean going around beating up people to prove her physical strength or something like that. Her personality is was got me to read further. Only 13 chapters, but I expect much from this series because in those 13 chapters, its convinced me that this is different.
For starters, the heroine with a persona which makes her stand out. She's not diplomatic nor does she beat around the bush. Maria tells everyone straight off the reality of the situation without worrying about her own image. She intrigues me more than anyone else...would love to see more!
Then there's Shin. Ah, he struck a chord with me and I really like him *insert fangirl squeal here*. Yuusuke on the other hand seems like a very one dimensional guy at first but later is shown to be much more deeper than his appearances.
The bully scenes (hate that Ayu girl with veangence!!) with the class were harsh and I was glad to see that Tomoko moved over from her shallow buddies to Maria biggrin.
Recommend this to all for this is an amazing series. Waiting for more!

Akuma To Love is Love

This is honestly one of the best shojo manga's I've read. I can't predict half the things Maria will say and while the plotline of the two guys there ready to save her is a little bit cliche I love the fact that their characters aren't. Yes Meguro is a bit of a bad boy and Yuusuke is the kind one but their personalities go deeper than that. Especially that of Yuusuke's. Sorry if I sound like a fan girl I've just really fallen for his character. I can't really understand half his actions.

Though Maria's just the same. She's strong and I can't believe that the teacher is such an idiot. But obviously that is meant to inspire fury into the minds of the readers. This is a very well written if not completely original manga. Still a good manga doesn't have to be original. It just has to be 'lovely!'

And that's why I rate this a 10/10 because I couldn't stop reading. Yes Maria is a little hard to relate to but then again there are a lot of humans out there like her. I would however like for her to be a little more human sometimes.

One of the coolest heroines ever!

Having read the first 9 chapters of this manga, I can say that Kawai Maria is the coolest heroine that I have ever seen. She is not a damsel in distress. She merely has the ability/misfortune to perceive things as they are, not as people present them to be. While it seems that Maria is harsh on the faults of others, she saves her harshest criticism for herself. I love her Goth-Loli style. I like how the narration switches between the three main characters. The villains are top-notch, inspiring an entertaining amount of hate. If you like a shoujo manga that is more complex and developed than the norm, read Akuma to Love Song.

I tried re-reading this one playing "Amazing Grace" by Leann Rimes, I can reflect the shell shocked admiration if I sorta picture Kawaii Maria singing in the same way bigrazz ...but this is one manga that I look forward to, hope it doesnt disappoint me, and seeing that there are 3 pages of the comments for a shoujo manga which has just 6 chapters released, I can see many are following suit biggrin ..I have liked Kawaii Maria's personality from the moment she started talkin though I dont always understand the meaning of what she says...nice to c ballsy gal,lol...
