Description
Koizumi Kanna is infatuated with the man who came to the restaurant she works at and ordered a burger with no onions. Little does she know, Toujou Ren is interested in her as well, but for a different reason. Kanna just so happens to be the mirror image of a woman he knew a very long time ago. It is for that reason that he saves her when she nearly dies in a car accident. But the life he gives Kanna is far different from the one she lived before, and she's not certain it's the kind she wants...

from the description I expected it to be more deep than it occured to be, I hardly finished it. As far as I remember (see? I didn't even bother to do so), the male character was sadistic in a way I din't like, while the girl was a typical shojo naively stupid, both were irritating me a lot, they weren't realistic and had no development. I wanted something really psychological, but their relationship was not convincing. the ending was confusing, abrupt, it left the impression of a non-finished plot, a dropped stuff.
The art is lame, what is it with dudes looking 100 % the same as girls? okay, girls were drawn normal, but sometimes while skimming through it gave me a hard time to tell a dude from a chick...

In a few words, it's a read-and-forget manga.

.. did i say beautiful people? the artwork is amazing! the people are so pretty.
the storyline itself is deep and wonderful in it's own nature. a very refreshing read! both in content, characters, character personalities, and such.
i'll give it a 9, it was missing something i just can't quite place.. but read it! it'll make you think. (at least it made me think~)

not really that significant but..
Spoiler (highlight to view)
i was wondering wtf the 'vampire girl' title had anything to do with the story. i was like 'huh?' call me dense, but i didn't even think the story would have anything to do with vampires! XD and if you're reading this before you've read the series, YES THE CHARACTERS ARE VAMPIRES! >D doesn't that make it so much more amazing!? .. of course you might have realized that if you had any common sense, unlike me..

When do they actually remember their vindication? Life is a vicious cycle. History repeats itself and all that crap tied down 90% into the manga's end. That never sits well with anyone.

Could've wished for a better execution. Though I get where the title's coming from now.

I love this manga. The complexity and art is amazing. However, I find the ending extremely unsatisfactory. It was like a kind of anticlimax for me and I would have much preferred something different, even if it's a change from the traditional kind of ending.

I agree with albeitalways, this is really good. I enjoy that it is different and not a "love will win" happy ending. It has dept. Although I also agree in the fact I wish the mangaka would have went into a little more detail about the boy with the toy and how it is all connected, I feel the mangaka probably felt rush to finish it.

Either way, I am glad I read it. Well worth it.

Could have been better

The beginning of this manga started out a little slow and sketchy, then the story picked up about the 3rd or 4th chapter, it really started to get interesting then it really gripped my attention at about the end of volume 1 and the star of volume 2. then the last 2 chapters were confusing and vague, I had to go back and reread them for them to make any sense at all.

what could have been a good story but IMO it wasn't dark enough and the whole story the way it was done here would have been done better in 1 volume.

This manga was very good to start. About 7-8 (rating)
Midway through, there was some added drama so it turned out to be a solid 8.
In the beginning of the 3rd volume, everything was confusing, shit was popping up that didn't even tie up with the end, the last chapter introduced 4 new characters, their basic problem, their relationship with each other, and a VERY vague time setting, but their relation to the main characters wasn't even reveiled.

Art was very original, and somewhat like manhwa, so I enjoyed it immensely =)

But the end barely summed anything up and left you to assume the rest.

eg, We assume that Wana keeps on waiting for Ren and eventually meets the reincarnation of him.

I gave this manga a 4.7 for the psychological plot which was pretty original, but WAY too flimsy. It was too random as if the manga-ka just made 4 plots, put them into a sort of gun, and fired it into a book, and gave that to the editor.
And even that got destroyed, so they got an assistant to get the left over bits and pieces of the pages and pieced them together.

Like this:
"And in this chapter...This guy will come in...And he'll do...I dunno that page is missing...He'll do something bad!! Yes he will be a bad person...OH! Let's make him a vampire!! Yes that's good...Draw a vampire guy there..."

I might be too vicious but i'm just so disappointed that a manga that had such a great beginning fell to this

I honestly don't get why are people complaining on this manga, particularly because it didn't end up as a teenage shoujo vampire-loves-hapless-girl? Um, hello, not all mangas have to end up as clichés, which is GOOD, to most of us jaded readers out there.

Personally, this is one of the best vampire mangas I've read around, even more so than Vampire Knight. It has everything, mystery, intrigue, horror and a little bit of psychological thinking as well. If that's not your cup of tea, then stay away from this one.

It has fairly mature themes as well, so if things like 'rape', senseless killing, and all that stuff isn't something you can stomach, then don't even read it.

My only complaint, as others have pointed out already, is that the ending seems too 'loose'. The manga-ka could have done a better job in explaining more about this whole 'life, death and revenge' business, instead of shoving in a chapter that barely ties the loose ends and has more open-ended holes instead.

Still, the sum is more than the total of its parts, so I have to say, despite the lousy ending (the lack of explanation for all that mysterious, intriguing 'past' ) , it still makes up for it and this manga is one of the better, gothic vampire stories I've read for a long time. wink

And yeah, I agree with destati, maybe the whole universe--or Kanna and Ren's universe, is inside that kid's toy.

"Souls will never die, and will never be reincarnated. They will just continue through different places... This is retribution."
Very hard to understand at first. But I got into it after a while.
It deals with the belief of reincarnation, and somehow with higher beings.
Decide on your own what you conceive of it.
