Fantastic

From the author of Basara, we are brought another epic filled with adventure, survival, and suspense. Like many others, I've read Basara to completion and enjoyed it thoroughly, and expected no less from this one.
Luckily I was not disappointed, but I will admit it took me a while to get into it. Looking at its premise, I couldn't help but imagine some kind of Kaguya Hime scenario (a manga I could not bring myself to finish), and thus put off reading it. When I did finally pick it up, I was hooked.
Like Basara, it has a wide array of characters, who can be anything from "normal" to downright terrifying, though it all depends on whose perspective you're viewing (which is one of my favourite aspects of the author's works: The antagonists and protagonists are always switching roles). It is fascinating to see them all act and coexist in a post-apocalyptic world, with their decisions all being made with precaution, fear, and the instinct to survive.
The setting switches from the present, to the past and to the places in between. As such, it has a lot of "rifts" in the storyline filled with backstory; while it is necessary, the information overload can leave you a little dazed. This isn't unfamiliar to the author's works, but I suggest to those who don't like complicated storylines and characters to look elsewhere.
It is also very, very long. At times it seems somewhat redundant, like the author is only prolonging the story in order to milk money out of it, but I assure you this one is better than Basara at advancing the storyline.

The real hook for me on this manga is the characters. The main characters all have their time to delve into their psyches, and it's such a great character study in that sense. Only once or twice have I thought, "That's a bit unrealistic."

Fantastic art, and even better story. Yumi Tamura, keep 'em comin'.

Good... Really good

For the first ten chapters, I was pretty annoyed. While there was some potential for the story, it seemed a little lackluster and not very original, and the characters (namely Natsu and a few others) really irked me.
However, luckily, the story then shifted gears and went on to focus on the survival of the other groups and then it got really interesting, especially with the way that the different groups interacted. It's obvious that the author has put a lot of planning into this story, and the survival groups/events that take place are indeed very realistic and engaging to the readers. She does a good job with going into the action/adventure side of the story, but also in exploring the psychological impact of having to live in a apocalyptic world.

I read the first 7 volumes in one day. It was like having a nightmare (for 12 hours), that is, a nightmare that's so interesting that you want to keep watching it, but you'll probably be too scared to come back and watch it again. The monsters were not only actual monsters, but, sometimes, also people (yep, living up to the "psychological" tag).

Nice artwork (although the drawing of the characters look really old school). The disgusting creatures all look so real.

I have to admit though, it's not the most original survival story I've ever seen. But it's certainly well-executed, enough to keep you thinking about it for a while.

If you think the first few volumes aren't interesting enough, keep reading, because it gets more complicated.

It's good for the most part, except for the the last few chapters where the manga becomes sappy (You get a life lesson! You get a life lesson! Life lessons for everyone!!). Characters that were seemingly more complex at the start, become more generic in the manga's conclusion. In spite of this, the plot, and character dynamics, are still a bold attempt by the mangaka, that succeeds.

Many people have already written a review about what I want to or would say.. So let me just say this. It is absolutely fantastic!! She really has it. From beginning to now it has been wonderful, the plot hasn't faltered at all, it has always been interesting. Always. Some people really have it. They just have the full ability and the others.. well they copy off of that ability, but she, right her for sure has the ability. It is a pleasure to read this and I will continue following closely until the end.

If you haven't read this or if you are considering reading this, or even if you are considering NOT reading this for whatever reason, you seriously just need to go read it right now.

Or, if you are considering dropping this after the first few volumes because it's boring, please don't. It starts off a little slowly and a bit average. Don't stop reading it and you will be amazed at how much you start to love the series. This work is a masterpiece.

Let me explain how unlikely it is for me to like this kind of manga. I'm not really interested in apocalypse stories. I don't like huge casts of characters stories. I don't really like sketchy art styles (I prefer more "clean" types like Gokusen or Liar Game, say.) BUT I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS SERIES. DESPITE ALL THE ODDS! Not that any of these "preferences" matter in the face of an brilliant, brilliant piece of work. It doesn't matter what demographic or gender you are. Seriously, you will appreciate this work.

This is truly a series for everyone. This mangaka is so gifted. In 7 Seeds, each and every character is developed fully. All of them grow on you and you feel so connected and invested in everyone's well being. The plot is deep and engrossing, the story is well paced and well written. This series will captivate and fascinate you. It will make you feel all kinds of emotions, and you will laugh and you will cry.

I would give it higher than a 10 if I could. This is one of my top favorites and I have read thousands. My friend, if you pass this one up, you are missing out.

I read all the comments below me and see everyone think Natsu is a hate character, but they seem didn't realize that she has to be like that or she would destroy the very purpose of having multiple lead characters that is having many perspectives in one setting. And to create a stark contrast with the other lead, who i say is even worth to hate than Natsu, Hana. Seriously, except for Summer A and Mozu, the only person capable keep up with her, Aragami can only do so with
Spoiler (highlight to view)
freaking 15 years soloing the whole land prior to the start of the manga
.For easier understanding, let's use Gundam Seed Destiny's setting (fanbase, to be exact), replace Shinn with Natsu, Summer A team as Coordinator ( or Canard to better symbolize all of them) and Kira by Hana and everything still run perfectly. Of course, a too obvious Mary Sue wouldn't get liked very much so she showed some down moments to get sympathize and a friendlier version of Team Summer A's skillset
Spoiler (highlight to view)
For god's sake, she was personal coached by both Takashi and Kaname while team SA is 7 out of hundreds and her training is after team SA's. Get what its mean ? She was teached almost EVERYTHING Ango and co had to pay with their friends's lives to learn , without any of their traumatic experiences, and still have a god damn normal live with a caring handsome boyfriend. Don't tell me about gun totting either, her boomerang can be just as deadly as a gun and make no noise at all, beside no way they can stuff a gun inside her bag and come up with believable excuse for a civilian possessing firearm
And she is so charismatic that even Autumn's peoples trust her. You can't make more "subtle" Mary Sue than that.
And Natsu should have a break too. Not that i like her but time simply doesn't support her development. Up to vol 13 i estimate she has just awaken for about 2 months at best and 95% the time was together with Arashi (Semimaru for extra weight, who surprisingly a good middle man btw). The setting is perfect for her... to have NO development at all. You can't blame her since she lacked a drive strong enough to force a change all those times.
The story and other characters are all good, they have various personalities and their development eventually come and help us understand them more. The story is solid with careful planning and preparedness.
All in all, a good watch, if you doesn't too allergy with shoujo-ish style and some times sketchy art, and can pass first 3 volumes, the story of other teams and Ryuudou is much more interesting than a shy girl and a hax girl's journey

Most mangas tend to deteriorate in quality as they go on, but 7 seeds is one of the few candidates who grow even better. This is a story that you could read for weeks on end and still remain engaged in its unique storyline. It seems that this manga is still in its introduction phase despite its nine volumes. When reading it, however, the story sucks you in and the nine volumes seem to become extremely short. The manga gives time to develop their main characters and maybe some limelight to side characters here and there. Since all the characters have been introduced by the end of volume nine (at least I think those are all the characters), the story may unfold into a deeper and more enchanting plot. I will look forward to anything that the author gives us.

Oh! I wanted to thank the scanlating groups for doing such a terrific job! Keep it up! biggrin

Very good... a true adventure

Plot and the cast seemed rather conventional at first. However, after a number of volumes, the story became far more intriguing and fascinating.

The main character is fairly wimpy at first(wow... a teenager who asks for permission to go to the toilet is a rare sight! haha! smile ) but at least she starts to evolve a lot, learning from the people and environment around her. Also, the rest of the cast evolve over time and you can see how their relations change as they interact: trust, mistrust, jealousy, acknowledgment, acceptance, fear, happiness, anger, sadness, deep pondering, etc., etc., and all these affect their teamwork and teamplay as well as their personal views and state of emotions.

Also, the details to the evolution of plants, animals, soil, clouds, star constellations, how the asteroid/meteor impacted Japan and other countries, what plans Japan made, etc., etc. are nothing short of amazing, so the background of the story is really rich.

At first, I had plenty of misgivings due to the amount of cast but the mangaka has proven her ability in layering tapestry upon tapestry of details, without affecting the quality of the plot.

And the idea to put in
Spoiler (highlight to view)
instructors/leaders who knew about what had happened, was an excellent plot device. Usually, many post-apocalypse stories turn out to be a total farce because they rely too heavily on the cast suddenly figuring out that it's a "post-apocalypse" without having much evidence or knowledge of the "supposed incidents".

As for the art itself, well... the style probably follows old-school shoujo artstyle, so some might have reservations about it. However, the ability to depict geographical, technological, modern, ecological, movement, characters' tension/moods/personalities and other details is nothing short of amazing. There are plenty of artists who excel in some but few who excel in most or all of these. To actually depict all these with some level of emotion and atmosphere is amazing! For, after all, there's a difference between "technical drawings" and "impressing upon the viewer with sombre, happiness, calmness, etc., etc.". And furthermore, to partially shape the plot with aid of such devices requires a true mastery of many things.
