One of the best shoujo

It's calm with an easygoing pace. Like some other reviewers below have mentioned, it doesn't have much of an excitement factor, so I think some people would probably get bored pretty quickly. However, once you look past the uber-relaxed pacing you'll find some rare treasures that aren't commonly present in shoujo: realistic, complex, likeable characters that don't conform to tropes (the main heroine is kind yet strong and witty, the main male character isn't the cool, tall, cold lead commonly found but rather endearing), beautifully intricate yet clean art, and a slight fantasy twist on the setting that makes the story more enjoyable and interesting to read about. Highly recommended; just make sure you approach it with an open-mind.

This story is meh. I stopped reading after chapter 7, came back and continued and dropped it.
I admit that this does invoke warm feelings, but the story is just bland.

It's simple, sweet, with likable characters and neat art. Besides that there isn't much else, so if you're looking for an exciting, gripping manga I suggest you turn straight around. I made it all the way to the 4th volume before I gave up. Up until then, the characters are pretty and sweet but unremarkable. I gave the manga a seven because it had the potential to be something greater, but since I read all the way up to the 4th volume without seeing any deep plot or character development I couldn't give it any more points. It doesn't hurt to try it, but don't force yourself to read the whole thing.
It's really good, don't be swayed by the others reviews!!!

I really like this series.
At first i didn't give an inch in reading this because i read the reviews first...
Biggest mistake ever!!!!
People have different taste and the mangaka's cannot please the taste of all readers.
There are some who are bound to give bad reviews or always dissatisfied even if it is good.
Lesson learned from this... Read the manga first before disregarding that as no good before even reading it.
This series is a gem...
The heroine is nothing like in any shoujo...
Shirayuki is very independent, strong willed and chooses her path by her own power and will.
Zen is very admirable and supportive to Shirayuki.
He isn't a jerk, a pampering prince and an easily swayed hero that is mostly in shoujo setup...
Really really love this series..
I'm SERIOUS here. I rarely give good reviews and this manga is worth it...

this is a great manga. the art was awesome, shirayuki's hair looks like erza scarlet's (fairy tail) which is so cool and charming. Also I love their outfit >< ... zen looks so cool in all his clothes ... so royal ,,,
everything in this manga is good enough for you to waste your time to read it.

I had to plough through the first 7-10 chapters and i am really glad that i did....because the manga has grown on me and has become something really wonderful a Shoujo Gem as may i add
don't be put down by the initial chapters coz this manga really picks up later on and cultivates into something really awesome for a genre such as Shoujo and guess what this is by far the least Cliched shoujo i have read
all the characters are really awesome, including the secondary characters....so many people to root for so many sub plot romance going on including ....i am deeply invested in the couple as well the side couples of this story (KikixMitsu make it happen)
great manga...highly recommended

The first 7 chapters are terrible. The first chapter especially is rushed and does not give the reader a feeling of connection with he characters or between the leads. Read it anyway because after that rocky beginning it blossoms into something charming and absolutely worthwhile.
Love it

This manga have beautiful art. I love how the mangaka draws her characters and clothes also ornaments on them.
You got different type main character that shoujo manga usually have.
The main female character is smart, kind, strong, brave, and support her love interest with her own way. She also have self-respect and common sense. She is not the type person that only can accept her fate without change it.
The main male character is smart, strong, kind, brave, not some stupid prince or just has handsome face character. He is independent and protect his love interest with his own way.
Although the story kinda slow but development in it make it interesting. The story got intrique and the characters you got not just good or bad character. They have their own reason for their action.

Yes, it has the points shoujos have. But you see, it's not the shoujo story that's bad, it's the mangakas that are incompetent and unable to pull out the potential in a basic shoujo storyline. Mainstream isn't bad, but many bad mainstream mangas make it look as if every one of them is horrible. Basically, this one is a nicely done typical shoujo.
The story is calm and certainly not dragging out. The pacing is nice and moves along smoothly and surely, while having the side stories as well and not just the romance between the two as if that's all there is in the world. The characters suit each other and do not feel like they were forced together by the mangaka, and properly play their roles and duties of bf/gf, or simply as friends and a human. They have common sense and basic knowledge of the society. While it is clean and shows the good side of the world, yet the manga itself isn't excessively emphasizing the "pureness" to the point that both bad and good is unrealistic and childish. It's more natural.
Like I said, it's shoujo. Certainly. That's what the genres say and that's what it should be. But it doesn't lack uniqueness nor does it fall in quality. It's nothing too special, but that's what's special about it =3
It goes the same for the art. Basic shoujo art, even shounens have similar as well. There's not much manga nowadays that doesn't follow that pattern. However, while I prefer older, more unique styles, it doesn't mean these are bad. It gives off a clean feeling and no obvious weird anatomies. I don't have a hard time identifying characters and there's no lack of pretty chars. I believe it's above the average shoujo, and you won't get tired from reading it. I don't see myself getting pissed off at the art and dropping it for being ugly (which it isn't). Just, accept what the world is, this is what you most likely will have reading a shoujo, why not pick one with average or better art and a good story?
In general, worth a read. I love fantasies, these kinds in a completely new world instead of one based off of our modern world or ancient Japan and China. That might play as an influence in my opinion, but I'm sure not many ppl can deny that fantasies are much less cliched. And even if they are, they are much more readable that just regular school life ones. In general, whether you like them or not, they are better unless the mangaka's ridiculously untalented.

Some points on this manga so far:
Typical Shojo:
- a girl who happens to be very special
- a guy always watching her
- guys that try to take her away
-her love interest takes her back through some sort of "cool"/heroic feat.
- cute, fuzzy feel good moments
-comedy
-characters have same look as other shojo manga charcters
"Snow White" Theme/Twist
- Poison Apple
- Similar-ish time period
- instead of blood as red as roses, its hair as red as apples ( red variety)
- prince who saves the day
-instead of animals, she takes care of plants
-ran away from home and found a new one
- forests
Plot
-really boring at first, had to plow through first couple of chapters
- piles of questions i had in the beginning were somewhat answered
- nothing spectacular, pretty predictable
Why I still read it/ high rating
- personal preference
- decent story= i only read for development between characters
- its not over, it could get better
-cute,fuzzy moments
