lol, i dropped desire climax cuase it was so stupid, but then i saw this manga a while ago and thought it was entertaining. I dind't notice it was the same author! for somereason, the vibe was much different/better from the last series. But it's not to the point where it's " OMG! MUST READ" xD. I kinda just finish it cuase it got me interested. Hopefully the author will continue to improve on her stories!

i finished the series for the sake of the good looking characters. i must say it's quite disappointing. it ended abruptly. i think more could have been done to develop the relationship between the main leads.

I can understand why some people may find this work a tad offensive, but I think some of the reactions are a little overblown. If you've read Ayane Ukyou's other work, Desire Climax, then you will know what you're getting yourself into when you read S.P.Y. Much like Desire Climax, S.P.Y. features the stereotypical vanilla heroine- though this one was probably drawn more in the same vein as the female lead from Hana-Kimi - and the story line is heavy with tones of masochism - much more so than a majority of shoujos.

And I guess I am probably willing to give this series more of a pass because the art work is easy on the eyes.

However, the storyline isn't too spectacular so far, and the mangaka hasn't really written anything that hasn't been done before. Like I've said in another review for Ayane Ukyou's work, her stuff is good read if you're looking for fluff and willing to suspend your belief for a while.

Okay for all of you giving this series a 10 should be ashamed of yourselves. Yes the artwork is nice but the story is subpar at best. Beyond the fact that you have yet another weak female protoganist. You'll have to completely suspend your belief that she doesn't know how to swim despite the fact that her mother is an accomplished medal winner...the same mother who abandoned her while young but at some point taught other young ppl how to swim. (yawn)

But the most egregious action in the first volume is when one of the male leads shoving and later slapping the female lead. BTW, the girl apologizes for bringing the male to said action.

I'm just overly disgusted & continue to be horrified by how irresponsible these mostly female shoujo writers add violence against girls/women as a throw away line. Yet b/c the male is "hot" & "justifiably outraged" we are supposed to believe her action was so heinous she deserved to be slapped. BTW, the other boys on the swim team viewed what happened as well, and they're drawn as showing only surprise but no indignation or protest against her getting hit. (ugggh)

What could have been a promising story just turned my stomach over...enough to write this comment. Just think these continuing storylines are utterly inexusable esp in light of the majority of these comics being young women. The message their sending here to teach em to be submissive, turn the other cheek & have sympathy for some overgrown misunderstood bully.
