It started out quite promising but then it became ridiculous. I thought the main character would be a strong person but the fact that she is the perfect secretary is what makes her weak. What kind of self respecting person would do what she did? Also, I really have no idea how they fell in love, I really didn't feel any romantic atmosphere between the two of them throughout most of the manga.
Another thing that bothered me is that after a while it got overly repetitive. They even kept saying the same words over and over again. Lets say we had to listen to a recap in various parts of every chapter. If I hear about "the pride of a vampire" one more time, I swear I'll go nuts!
I'm being really nice by giving it this rating.

Ok,this was the first josei manga i've read and at first i was a bit hesitant about the smut part but when i read i was glad to realise that the smut decreases as you move thru it. this has simply been the most delightful read since a while.

A lot of other shojuo mangas are well, the character (girls) are weak and the men are all "Ooh, I'm a good guy and I'l protect you from whatever". And when you do come across a manga that has a strong girl they just digress into a weakling.*cough, Akuma to Love Song cough, cough* But I'm glad to say that Kaya stays strong throughout the whole series and doesn't just give up when he supposedly "ditches" her also when problems occour she doesn't cry and wait for someone to save her, she helps herself. And Kyohei isn't the above-mentioned good guy he's well, he's flawed and doesn't try to change [except the playboy thing] himself into a good guy when he realises that he loves Kaya. He also doesn't lead her on about certain things[weddings and children] he tells her straight bout them.

Te only thing i didn't like about the manga was the ending .I feel the mangaka could have ended it better with, maybe a bit on what happens after she has her kid and all that. That's the reason it got 9/10 instead of 10/10.

However this manga isn't for everyone but if your're looking for a read that is a change from the sparkles and light of shoujo then this is good for you.

I wouldn't recommend this for younger girls [12 and under] simply and only because the of the SMUT. Other than that I think its pretty damn good!

I enjoyed the formal attitude of the heroine and how the guy doesn't go all emotionally cold right after she shows the slightest hint of affection. The male protagonist's character is good, in retrospect, although I admit I didn't like it at the onset. I hope that this gets a much-deserved, action-packed power-vampire sequel.

I didn't think that the male love interest was terrible. Flawed, but not terrible. And the female lead wasn't really a pushover. She chose to be with this guy, never bitched and moaned about it, and took responsibility for the good and bad things that happened between them. Her situation might have been a bit of a crappy one, but she stuck it out like a resposible adult and coped accordingly. I think that's pretty darn admirable. You don't have to be outspoken and no-nonesense to be regarded as a strong woman. Being patient and resposible ain't half-bad either.

That being said, even if there were some elements of this story that pissed me off, the one thing that I think is most commendable about this series ("I think" being the operative phrase) is that Kaya stuck to her guns up to the very end. And also that the leading male's personality changed gradually, instead of him suddenly turning into a prince charming. As far as him being possesive, arrogant, and smug....well, he's a vampire. I know that most people feel that something like that isn't an excuse, but it's actually quite true. I mean think about it, vampires are supernatural beings that drink human blood--for food no less. Humans are usually looked upon as nothing more than sources of energy and as pets in most instances (this actually mirrors the attutide that most humans have towards animals); also, I think that his condescending, lusty attutide is pretty much dead on, as far as vampires are concerned. He was raised that way. In the end, his attitude did change. Maybe it didn't change completely, but how realistic would that have been? Gradual is good, especially in storytelling smile .

Anywho, nicely done Oomi-sensei, nicely done.

This series happens to be the first Josei manga that I've read, and I must say, it is a bit boring, a bit irritating, and fairly predictable. It is also worth mentioning that I am male. I'm not sure I like the male 'antagonist' around whom the story revolves. He seems like a terrible person, and I have no idea why the story ends as it does.

I'll not rate this because I really don't know how. My usual methods wont' work here. I didn't really like the series, but I didn't completely hate it, either.

Said and done, I wouldn't recommend this series to any but the hardcore romantic, and one who is a bit patient.

Even though this artwork's style of work isn't really my field, I can't deny the fact that the plot is rather good but the artwork leaves much to be desired.

Even though it doesn't embrace my attention, it has enough twists and turns to make me keep reading until the end. This isn't really particularly my favorite but it is by far one of better josei manga I have read so far.

Why?! Why must it end, makes me so very sad. *sniffles*
I enjoyed this series so very much, as it progressed it became better. Comedic, cute and always beautiful. The two main protagonists were awesome. They were also cute and funny. I wasn't much of a fan of the smut though, was more interested in the story. I'm so sad to see this manga go. I highly recommend it for it's occasional hilarity, enchanting characters and the basics, which piqued my interest.

Definitely worth it!

In a world full of fiery-tempered and forceful heroines, this manga stands out as a delightfully delicious change. The heroine in this series is strong, but not overbearing, polite, but not overtly meek, feminine, without becoming dull.

I loved watching Kaya's transformation during the progression of the story. While the plot was a little bit basic at times, it never got old, or boring, since the personalities of the characters shone so brightly.

While there were a few repetitive scenes, usually between Kaya and Kyouhei, it wasn't something which detracts greatly from the quality of the manga, or my enjoyment of it.

I do have to admit that I am still not too sure about Kyouhei's character though. For most of the manga he comes across as terribly overbearing and crude, although there is a marked and extremely enjoyable development of his character near the end of the series which is most definitely worth reading.

Overall I'd rate this a 9/10, for very good artwork, a plot which came across as interesting, and characters which I actually enjoyed reading about.

If I could give this manga *negative* points, I would. This is one of those books where I hate the thought of a little sister reading it and getting the wrong idea about a woman's place in the world. Forget strong heroines--this is a woman who erases herself in order to please her boss and let him sexually harass AND abuse her.

Does no one else find it appalling that she is essentially turned into a whore? She acts like she has no choice but to offer her boss blood (read: SEX) because she's "a secretary." She keeps repeating that like a mantra--"I'm a secretary, this is my job." No! Your job as a secretary is to organize your boss's appointments and reschedule clients! Your job description does *not* in fact, require you to perform acts of a sexual nature, and it's not a romantic seduction to be called in to clean up after his lovers because you're his "secretary." I'm really shocked and disappointed when I read reviews that call a heroine a "slut" because she is caught between two guys. Well, this girl is LITERALLY being told she needs to give up blood/sex as part of her job, and no one sees anything wrong with this?

Ok, not only is that just plain *sad* but--I can't even count the ways that this is a horrific situation. The fact that she feels that she needs to provide sexual services to keep her job? The fact that her boss, who is in a position of authority over her, uses her like that, and finds no compunction in messing up both her private and professional life according to his whims? Or the fact that despite all this abuse, she's "in love" with him and pines for the day he recalls her to his side?

The heroine is not strong. To say she's strong because she "sticks to her guns" is laughable. It doesn't change the fact that she does nothing to even the power her "love interest" holds over her, as her boss, and as a man in general. Oh, great, she *chooses* to go work for and be in love with a guy that mistreats her, day in and day out. That makes her strong...how?

The only way she's professional is the way porn conveys that "nurses" are "professional" right before they kneel in front of some guy. The heroine is a weak woman who plays into becoming a huge victim. The "hero" is a lot worse--cruel--but this is supposed to be a manga by and for women, and I know younger girls are reading this, and for that, I really can't forgive the main character for being so weak and spineless--but being labeled as "strong and independent." That actually is what gets me so upset.

Call it what it is. The hero's a heartless jerk, and the heroine is someone so "nice" and spineless that she'll take all his crap and then call it "love." But if you want a better heroine, who's *actually* strong and professional and independent, yet soft and vulnerable at the same time, try Kimi Wa Petto. Sumire would asskick this "hero" straight from outta nowhere in 2 seconds flat.

I understand guilty pleasures. I was so prepared to read this expecting a romance. I didn't even begin to think I was in for a true, disgust-inducing horror show.

Loved it

I really loved this series if for nothing more than the fact that the heroine had such an "I've made my bed, now I have to lye in it" attitude. She was not a cry baby, and she never made excuses for neither her love interest nor herself when their integrity was questioned. Just because she bared with her boss and his bad attitude, it doesn't mean that she was being passive. A prime example of being passive would be the majority of Shinjo Mayu's female leads. If anyone else here has read most of her works, then I probably don't need to say anything else. That's a REAL example of the whole barefoot and pregnant BS :/.

As far as her becoming weak during the middle of the series...I really don't agree with that. She was human and experienced moments of weakness, just like most others do. No one's strong 24-7, so seeing her resolve waver made her less of a Mary Sue and more of a human being (with feelings, doubts, insecurities, etc)...and I really appreciated that. I also appreciated the fact that she didn't feel the need to change her love interest, but instead made an effort to try and understand him-- and ultimately accept him, faults and all. She didn't bend to his every whim, she compromised. Big difference there.

Yeah, Kyouhei was a jerk, but people are who they are-- and some people are just jerks by nature. That's not excusing all of the crap that he pulled, but no one's perfect. I didn't think he was too bad, considering the fact that he was a vampire, raised on a completely different belief system than most humans. And he could have been doing far worse things than being a class S playboy; which he stopped doing on account of the main character, btw. It was a gradual change, but how realistic would it have been had he just stopped right then and there?

Anyway, I could go on and on about what I loved about this series, but I won't. Obviously it's not something that everyone's going to love, but I'd always suggest at least giving it a try. Don't let my opinion sway you, because my taste is my taste smile . I'm just grateful that it hasn't given me a headache like Vampire Knight *sorry, but it's true*

Bottom line: I loved this series no matter what anyone says.
