Description
Sakura-Gari is a Taishou-era romance story, ten years in the making. It centers on 16-year-old Tagami Masataka as he is aiming to find his place in life. While attempting to start prep school as a rounin, he encounters Saiki Souma, the son of a distinguished noble of the Saiki Koushyaku family, and becomes part of the Saiki household.

It seems as though this will be the story of Tagami's life, taking us through both him growing up physically and emotionally.

I Actually loved this one, i wish all yaoi were like this, it was so romantic, so deep, and unlike many other yaoi where the sex scenes don't make sense at all, this one actually left an impact on me.

i'll probably have to read this again since the story didn't really sink in (or maybe i'm not in the right mood for it). but it's just ridiculously depressing. there's rape, lots of it, and there are disturbing scenes and situations in this as well so don't tread into this without being well-aware that this is not watered-down or sugar-coated in any way, shape, or form. it reaches a bit of an extreme in some ways as well... i couldn't really expect another ending apart from the one this one has, just don't expect things to ever "get better." i gave it a high rating because it did it's job at showing just how twisted people can be, the pain that can leave deep scars on people, psychologically and physically. it's by far the only bl manga that has ever disturbed me this much. definitely in it's own category when it comes to psychological bl mangas.

These feelings that are running through me are so indescribable. What is this story to make me feel such emotions? Never have i spent 3 hours of reading manga so well.
This yaoi was the deepest one i have ever read. Ever. And ive read a lot. I cant beleive this. Really, Avatar had 14 years to make his movie and it isnt half as good as this manga that took 10. I feel all the things that had been needed to be said about this manga have been said and so all i can say, is thank you mangaka for making me cry so wholehartedly because i dont cry often and i feel like a new person now.

like blueseeker, i only wanted to try this one out and i just read the whole thing in one seating and that rarely happens nowadays and its yaoi! omigosh! but i certainly dont regret reading this.. there was so much emotion and darkness and its not just.. "hey i put in drama there! now cry" kind of thing , its like the reader becomes involved in the story and you really sympathize with the characters actually i was really drawn to them that it didnt made sense to me that
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Souma has to be stabbed pages from the end . it actually made sense that their story ends in the two of them being not together and i also want it that way it is more realistic, i think.. i just like to think that he didnt actually die
well.. i just love this. i just hope that when i wrap my mind around this tomorrow it wouldnt look like its insanely stupid like how i managed to wrap my mind about Fushigi Yuugi after 8 long years of being a fan and using it as a reference and guideline for love. i also love it that Masataka is straight and he reacted like a normal boy unlike other ukes, that are way too easy.. so its still realistic! gawd.. this manga really is a masterpiece. YUU WATASE, really, take it from an ex fan who just became a fan once again, you have gained my respect once again smile

I was only meant to read one chapter, to get a glimpse of what everyone was talking about...but the story gripped me and wouldn't let go! It's such a dark story, and at the same time such a sad ROMANCE...Truly it makes me think of what cowards/weaklings Romeo and Juliet were; because these two main characters went through hell and i believe still found their HEA. The way the mangaka ended it, left me filled with hope, yet with a feeling that it was quite realistic under the circumtances....

This will surely be a classic for me. I wish it would be licensed so i can keep a mint copy for a re-read some time from now.

is it beautiful? NO. i've been reading manga for so long but this is the first time i countered so many rapes, so many deaths, murders and such. but the way the mangaka told this story is amazing.. and for me, how it ends makes a manga unforgettable. and boy, thats was.. XD

so is it beautiful? nope. but this is a masterpiece.

THE WAGYU, FOIE GRASS, CAVIAR OF BL

First, I dare to say that this is not for you who expect Yaoi, as in most Yaoi fangirls would like (no climax, no meaning, and focus only on before sex-sex-after sex situation). This is for you who wants tragic, life drama with boy x boy as the main character. So don't start this series with the expectation of "Kay I'm reading BL romance, where's the lovey dovey?? Where's the gaysex??" , you'll find this series boring. Just treat it as general manga, read it carefully, and digest the conversation (the scanlation team did a great job, but it was really hard to convey the depth of the real japanese conversation into english) because heck, even the words are beautiful.

Second, people have tendencies to underestimate major opinion, sometimes without realization, one of the reasons was because they've already swayed/ expect too much. So make sure you're on a blank, emotionless and objective state when you start reading this.

Third, read the genre carefully ladies. It said "Tragedy". It's dark. So don't start reading this series only to complain about how there are so many beatings/rape/murders along the way because you shouldve guessed it. Unless someone tricked you, forcing you to buy the manga by saying that it was a series about fruity-colored highschool romance , stop the rude complains. I doubt it you even buy the originals anyway.

With that, feel free to welcome sex on the piano ..... and hating Watase Yuu more than before because of the ending

Bizarre but touching
by Otinashi

To me this story was bizarre in a sense. Each chapter it got darker and darker to the point where if something "shocking" happened I laughed or had a "wtf moment" even though it was supposed to be something depressing. It became so strange that it lost it's shock value. I think the author tried a little to hard to shock the reader every chapter.

Despite this I became wrapped in the characters and story and couldn't stop reading until the end. The story may have lost it's shock value but it still wasn't predictable. Especially the end, I never expected that kind of ending. I felt sad at the end and my eyes almost welled with tears but I couldn't cry. I wanted so bad to really cry for the characters but I think because of the bizarre happenings before the ending I couldn't. If this story would have touched me to tears I would have given it a 9/10.

The way the story reached out to you was amazing. You can feel the pain while reading this story. I sure did. If you haven't this manga needs to be on your "Must Read" list. It is truly amazing.

A bit too much darkness

Everything was strange and I ended up reading out of curiosity. The story became darker and darker with every page, and more unrealistic. But... I still cried at the end, it still broke my heart the way things ended between the two of them.

The art was very beautiful but I don't know if that compensates for the weirdness.
