Katsuragi Keima is known on the net as the god of getting the girls while in real life he’s known as otamegane and he hates all real girls. However he is approached by Elsie, a devil from hell, to help her in catching runaway spirits that hide in people. Apparently the spirits only hide in the hearts of girls and the only way to get the souls out is by making the girl fall in love so the spirit gets forced out. And he’s not allowed to fail or he will lose his head.

that is indeed his world
"Once again, reality proves to be a shitty game" Keima Katsuragi, The World Only God Knows vol.1 pg.69 pnl.3
This phrase resumes the main character's philosophy. he is extremely smart, BUT could be clinically depressed xD His ideal word, and ideal girls, exists only in gaming, probably by his own glorified notion of what it should be. this is indeed a shitty world, most of us who can join this site on our idle time are lucky enough to NOT worry about what are we going to eat tomorrow, or with how many people i got to suck his thing to get the food. So we can tend to forget how hard things are for a LOT of people in this wide world. He decided not to care about this shitty world and shut himself on gaming, but he was forced back to reality by a life or dead deal xD. The plot has become thicker than I would have ever guessed at the beginning, and I have to tell you that I’m waiting eagerly for a new dose of his world every week.
Pure Skill on 'Conquering' Girls
without any emotional attachment, Keima just go for it and very successful with it. witness the mastery of enamoring any females from the guy who don't even care.
~ but to witness such pure mastery, you must be patient until few arcs have ended. but don't worry, the excitement will continuously escalates. without fail.

LOVE THIS MANGA
you like it you like it. you dont like it you dont like it. FOR those who DONT like it.... my GOD why are even still reading this manga and complaining? if you CANT enjoy reading this manga then stop reading and find another one jeez. must be pretty good manga if your still reading it . I SURE LOVE THIS MANGA.
P.S. if you comment on this in a bad way you MUST be checking in sometimes to see what people wrote and just want to complain about something since you have nothing to do and/or you LOVE reading this manga since you understand full well what i am saying
smartly developed at start, but should have ended by now
I was originally a fan of the series, but in the end it has been continued past where it should have and it now has become pretty terrible.
I'm also disappointed that the main character never really evolved in the end. He seeks a boring life (solo fantasy video games), which he prefers over real life, no matter how thrilling his life actually is.

Just to debunk the terribly written post below me.
Let me get this straight. The oh-so-self-righteous Hell Clues condemns the protagonist for valuing his own life over superficial, transient relationships? Yes, cheating sucks. Now please tell me that you wouldn't "cheat" to save your life. "Oh my god! My boyfriend/girlfriend is attempting to shatter my grade school notions of romance with the illicit peck-on-the-lips~ And what's more!? Just to save his/her own life? That self-centered piece of shit!" Honestly, what kind of sanctimonious crap are you preaching...
And no, it isn't a deus ex machina. Ha, the animu nuthugger's word of choice. I suppose Elsie's magical broom is a deus ex machina too for being able to help facilitate the story. It's a viable and necessary part of the story that's been addressed by the cast. Don't nonsensically write it off because of impartiality. Maybe if Keima's dad teleported in on a dinosaur with rocket launchers to save the day I'd agree with you.
The female characters exist as parodies and you're pointing them out as cliche? What a joker. Now that doesn't mean this manga is always original, but point out something that's not so... obvious. Seriously. It's like criticizing a cover album for using other peoples' songs.
Now to the review. The story itself is fairly solid. Occasionally the author introduces "break" chapters where the nothing really happens, which is fine, but most of them haven't been really interesting or funny. The most important part is that the story hasn't created any glaring disparities or inconsistencies (So far). TWOGK is easygoing and a decent read. Which is nice, because a lot of people seem to think that simple entertainment is synonymous with poorly written entertainment. It's a decent example of how to not fail so hard.
I don't think anyone has stopped to think that this manga is basically about a playboy. a playboy presented in such a way that a male audience wouldn't hate is still a playboy. Even if he's the manga type that doesn't have sex with them, he's still going after women he has no intention of dating and getting them to like him. Then a deus ex machina deletes it so he can go to a new one without breaking the girls heart or holding him responsible. BUT HE IS STILL DOING IT.
Whoever said this isn't riddled with cliches is WRONG. This purportedly takes place in the real world(aside from the demons) yet he comes across the cliched girls of gal games. This has cliches, they just stop to point them out. That doesn't magically mean they aren't there.
That aside, it's funny and the plot finds something to do. The character is given a lot of outs with what he does. I'd personally prefer a normal love story but the plot is about cramming down all love story tropes into one manga and having fun with it. And it is fun and entertaining but it's not the most fun I've had with a manga and it's not the funniest being made right now.
It's ridiculous that gal game rules not only apply but that having skills in them translates outside the game. Also some people are saying the protag is different somehow except that he isn't. He's an otaku that's really weak, so he's from that strain of manga protagonist. The only different feature is that he gets good grades. Also that this isn't a romance manga, though it has a few of the features. It's a shounen action(not harem) manga where the action is solving a girls problem so she likes the protag. So maybe they think he's different for a romance manga except this isn't one, and even then, he wouldn't be(completely that is).
Thinking about it, There are plenty of manga that already do that without being romance, nor are they about only girls. Sket Dan and Yanki-kun to megane-chan are two of the best. Helping with problems is good, too bad it has to be done in such a disingenuous way.

Awesome Shounen Romance Comedy
This is definitely a good read. The hero is a very extreme and exaggerated otaku who loves 2D or idealistic girls over 3D or realistic girls. Also its not a typical harem, since the hero has completely no interest in real girls at all. Also it is not riddled with ecchi like other harems. Even the idea with real vs ideal is not original and is found throughout this story and plot, it is using a modern model with "galga" or dating simulation games as the device to drive this story and give it new perspective. This does make for good and interesting ideas which can make you think a bit about the world we live in. The supernatural element adds the right kind of spice that can drive this ideal vs real into the most interesting conflicts and forcing the hero to use his 2D girl "capturing" skills to "capture" real girls since his life depends on it. Each character gets a deep and valuable background that helps drives the story and makes you appreciate them. The character backgrounds are also very touching and you can see the hero shine in a way you never expect a person like him could even though he hates to deal with real life. The anime also follows closely with the manga and flows beautifully giving you more of what I think the author wants you to feel when watching and/or reading his story. Also when the story starts to become dry and redundant the author throws a twist that turns the direction into a story that is deeper and more complex than you could have expected. It is not so complex though that you can not follow but it does leave you wanting more after each chapter.
Overall this is a good thinker manga that makes you think about love in a whole new way that most never thought about and its funny too!
This manga is brilliant and entertaining right from the very start. Wakaki Tamiki really does tread new ground in the harem genre - this is not your average harem manga, nor your average romance manga for that matter. Even though the author uses a lot of the genre's tropes; at the same time (through the use of the charismatic, genre-savvy main character), he subverts and deconstructs those same tropes, and it's damn refreshing. It's not just a gimmick, though. The storytelling is sweet, clever and amusing. The cliffhangers, of which there are many, are nevertheless tasteful - they don't feel like the author's just cut the chapter short. And the latest developments are exciting to say the least. Whether you're a jaded reader of romance manga, or an earnest fan, give this manga a try, you won't regret it.
the plot is very fresh, a harem where the main character dislikes the girls and loves games is new to me, lots of funny moments and unique characters. the variety of girls he must conquer also keeps the story fresh with new ideas and not so much repeating.
I think this is the best Harem ever in this year for me (because I don't like harem that's too many ecchi, serious) this manga is funny and the girls keep increase more and more (not like other harem series). And if it have a flaws for me it is the an anime, because it only have 13 episode.
edit: well, kami nomi have received green- lit for second season. the season is on April next year. yippi
