From Viz: Kaya Satozuka is a brilliant secretary who excels at her job, which is why she doesn't bat an eye when she's assigned to be personal secretary to Kyohei Touma, the very difficult managing director of Touma Foods. It doesn't faze her when her new boss seems determined to make her fail, and she even manages to take it in stride when she discovers the secret behind his prickly behavior…he's a vampire! But while Kaya easily adapts to late nights and keeping a schedule of his "dinner dates", will her ultra-competence help when Kyohei's smoldering gaze starts turning her way?!

the main character is such a jerk, he spends most of his time sleeping with a bunch of women for "food" and for sex but every once in awhile after he is done sleeping with the other women he will desire the secretary blood so he will make out with her, and then treat her like crap. and yet this pathetic women still clings onto him no matter how much he pushes her away. he keeps hurting her and for two volumes she diligently sets up meetings for him to sleep with other women, this pathetic woman is so annoying and he is such a heartless jerk... even in volume 4 he kisses a woman infront of her and she just leaves like an obedient moron, women like he sicken me, she is worse than he is... they use the excuse that he has "vampire pride" to excuse the fact that he is a heartless jerk...

Great but then kind of anticlimatic
Usually I don't like it when manga drags on and on, but this was an exception. There was clearly room for more, I mean....it was just TOO EASY. It was too much of the sugary, unrealistic, happily ever after ending. So after all that, the "bad guys" just give up and say - ok, we accept you! Also, the drama and the intrigue from the beginning as well as the character appeal of both kaya and kyouhei really winded down near the end. I hope that the mangaka can write a oneshot or something about kaya and kyouhei's life afterwards.
BUT BUT BUT that is no excuse to not read this manga, for those who have not read it yet. It is a lot better than a lot of the romances (especially vampire romances) out there.

Good drawing, the story start nicely but rather flat in the end.
I was so addicted at first since i thought the story would go really interesting about vampire clan thing. But after i finished reading the ending vol.(except the extra on the ending vol.), this question, "What? just like that?", suddenly popped up on my mind. Honestly, I'd been waiting for the vampire clan boss who's the most powerful guy doing something unpredictable to separate Kyouhei from Kaya. When i read it, somehow i felt the boss didn't really mean it, especially at the last few moments. Well, this is just my personal thought, good drawing and the story started nicely but rather flat in the end. Still, worthed enough for my collection since i really like Ohmi Tomu sensei drawing (^ o ^) v
This is a great manga! I really like the characters and the plot.
Right when i was starting to get annoyed thinking things wouldn't be going anywhere they did! i]m a guy that's not usually into this kind of genre but i took a chance thanks to a recommendation and it's really worth reading
I really love this. The characters are particular, and the thing i really love is that the story is gradually moving. It gets better and it is really progressing. It's a smut but the it's not the main thing, and the plot is enchanting!
I agree with my fellow comentees....
What I love about Midnight Secretary is the fact that the lead is not a stupid, naive senseless girl who falls in love at first sight. I do agree that she starts to loser her edge halfway through the series, but that is because she begins to fall in love slowly. It is a part of her character development, not a flaw in the plot or the beginning of a shoujo cliche by any means. I love this series because of it's strong, consistant characters. The only negative I have to say about Midnight Secretary is that it is basically smut with a good plot.... so if you have any objection to smut, it might not be your thing.
Definitely fond of it.
Initially, I was actually a little reluctant to read this, but now it's one of my favorites! Characterization and plot are both interesting and consistent (for the most part--character development does change the characterization, but not in an implausible way). It does seem that the plot has stagnated, just a little, at this point (chapter 26), but I see it picking up again. It's sort of a "calm before the storm" sort of plot lull.
if you like the male lead, you'll probabily like this. Otherwise...
Kaya (the secretary) is a likable and strong character in the beginning, quite evening out the very... bossy boss and stating herself as a suitable companion, while the interaction between them is relatively enjoyable and interesting to witness. Then the more she falls in love, the more she seem to get submissive, the imposing behaviour of her male counterpart hence turning out to be just... a tad too much to bear. In hindsight I think this second phase -that thankfully seem to be over in the very latest chapters (#23 and #24 currently) - was mainly due to the mangaka stalling the development (the relationship seemed to almost go one step ahead and two steps backwards some times) while trying to establish the plot and pacing: Kyohei (the vampire) is a tough nuck to crack, but the whole 'vampire pride' element could have been solved much earlier (first cracks were about chapter #13, but only ten chapters later we see some real thought processing of the matter on his side). Well, better later than never, I guess XD. Do I recommend this? yes, to the smut audience, with caution to the general audience if you're not bothered by borderline Harlequin-romance chauvinism - or if you're amused by it instead XD -. Hoping it won't go downhill... Otherwise, I'd rather suggest Barairo my Honey by the same mangaka, it's more balanced and has no smut. Or, if you want (mostly smart, funny) smut and good crack XD, try Yoshihara Yuki

This is what i think...
I dun't like Kyohei...and i always think what Kaya like in Kyohei?? coz Kyohei hott n sexy it does't make a sense....many hot guys in Kaya life also hot..kind too! and Kyohei..I really don't like what he thinks!!! he mean guy! not a kind guy..T__T
ok finally!!!! he said something! like does it take that long for someone to say I Love You?(well with that sort of context...lol) well maybe with his pride and all but seriously he looks like he's hurting 'cause of what she's saying about being his secretary...yes yes yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!! He finally showed that hurt look to her. He's finally begging with his eyes.
Oh and by the way...He is soooooooooooooooooooooooo hot!!!!!!!!!!
