Somebody needs to make a condensed series of this

I finally got the guts to pick up the series again and finish it once and for all. I read through the entire series in a span of three days and after all that I began to wonder why did I waste all that time!!
Inu Yasha is average at best. The concept is an interesting one, an overused and cliched thing which you might have heard of sometime (especially in the middle school fantasy phase of mine), but good nevertheless.
The story starts off as good enough and interesting but the problem with these cliched concepts of demon fighting, all battles begin to look repetitive and irritating. The love triangle between Inuyasha, Kagome and Kikyo was good but then that too became annoying.
The main problem I felt with the series was the length. While the entire story should've merely spanned for some 10-15 volumes at maximum, it still stretched on and on and on for 56 volumes. Because of that, some concepts are reused and all fights against Naraku and offsprings seem the same.
I didn't like Kagome much simply because she was too naive and nice. It was fine in the beginning but I couldn't like her. Inuyasha was an average protagonist as well, nothing special. A few characters whom I did like were Sesshomaru (I hope I got the spelling right) and Kagura. The other demons were all the same bloodthirsty jack-asses who were ultimately owned by Inuyasha. Naraku was, again, a character who repeated his methods and was VERY irritating (because for some odd reason he just loves messing with normal people's lives). It's a good thing he got what he deserved.
Finally, I wasn't entirely satisfied by the ending. I felt it was too rushed and instead of giving a nice and clean cut ending, she just hurriedly tied up all loose ends (I guess she was pressured into finishing it fast) of the main plot and left it at that. The epilogue was not detailed enough, just giving a brief and vague idea of everything and that's that.
Because of the length, the manga loses out on much of the popularity and becomes irritating. Had it been shorter, it would've caught and held the attention of the majority readers and had higher rating. But too bad...

Maaaaan. Why does she feel the need to drag this out for so long? I can't believe anyone is still actually buying it. It's a shame too because it's a good story. *Sighs*

Takahashi...

If you've read Inuyasha, you know its good.
It has one of the best love triangles EVER found in manga, and the characters are all unique. It definitely doesn't suffer from cliche anime/manga syndrome. However it suffers the next worse thing-- Takahashi's never ending manga syndrome.

Inuyasha could've been excellently completed in 10 volumes. There really hasn't been new material added for a long time now-- only remixes of existing themes. She just keeps adding plot devices that aren't really necessary... WE GET THE POINT!

If it is an indication, I dropped this manga years ago around vol 33... only to have come back and start reading it from vol 50 or so. I didn't miss anything, I was able to understand immediately what was going on (Naraku and Inu-tachi are still duking it out, and Inuasha got a few upgrades along the way). Even after I returned to catch up the missed volumes, I soon found it was just a waste of time.

I sincerely hope that some fan group decides to start a "Abbreviated Inuyasha project" in which copy pastes of the manga are rearranged into ~10-15 volumes and finally bring Inuyasha the glory this excellent manga truly deserves.

i like this manga but the big problem about this is.... it is so looong/.. i don;t even know when it wil end.... it just start again and again and even the bad guy is still the same.... i hate to admit it but i really like this manga..... oh well i suggest that you just wait for it to stop and just read the last 10 or 20 volumes.... there is nothing more special in this manga!!!

Good story but far too long

I watched the anime first and was fustrated by it finishing before the story ended but now can understand why. The idea and plot is good, involved while not too deep so it makes for a good light read. The characters are interesting and there is a good mix of action, comedy, romance and seriousness. However the fault with Inuyasha is that the chapters are too short and there are far too many. I'm only contining to read this since the end is in sight finally but this story should definitely have been condensed. I'm wondering why I even bothered in the first place since every week nothing seems to be developing much, Really ruins what I once thought was a relatively good manga.

this should be in guinness book of records for having a single villain last more than 500 chapters and still alive and still the main enemy. dropped it around volume 40, started good and now its just MEH!!.... i bet Rumiko will keep writing this until she dies, i bet 100 bucks on it.

Series good, movies great - but this really needs an end. Right now I am in the state when I do not care how it ends; however, I have invested a great deal of time into getting manga and reading that insanely long piece, that I really need to close my "Inuyasha - manga" DVD... smile

Do not misunderstand me - Inuyasha got me seriously hooked into otaku world and it will always have a special place in my heart, database and shelves (... smile), but the length of the manga starts to diminish my interest in further reading...

If only Inuyasha (willingly) kissed Kagome at least... One scene from the movie is soooooo not enough... ;D

It's still ongoing? this needs to stop. The manga is good, but they need to complete the jewel and kill the bad dude...It's way too long. I stopped reading around vol 40, thinking, I'll read it when it finally finishes, but it's already almost 60. Rumiko needs to stop this.

It's a pretty good story but as I'm sure everyone has mentioned it is looong and needs to be done. (Not that I don't love long manga it's just I need some closure with this.) So browsing this Naruko is still kicking D: You'd think someone would bless us and kill him

And I thought Ranma went on forever. This damned thing has as more volumes than half the series I've read has chapters! As others said, do not make the mistake of following this thing every week. Wait for it to end and then read the last fifteen or so chapters.

The way things have gone, even if it looks like it'll end in the next x number of chapters it'll find a way to continue to limp forward for another hundred chapters.
