i really like this manga because the story and drama is pretty good and there is a lot of interesting characters. and i personally disagree with people who say the arts bad because first of all the art of the animals like the saber tooth lion was really cool and i know the character's art is a little less serious for this serious survival story but thats the defference between Seinen manga and shounen manga cause if it was dark, depressing but amazing art it would more a Seinen manga, and i like the art the way it is cause it gives a less depressing vibe

I rather liked it.

Each person has their own likes and dislikes, but I rather like it. I know it's the standard to try to compare this with other things and to read it with a judgment already in mind (I assure you, it is NOTHING like Lord of Flies in terms of plot), but it is similar in basis that they are 'stranded on an island', but you'll find you'll enjoy the read if you just take it in as it is and don't form an solid dislike-dislike opinion based on the beginning chapters.

It's an interesting read. Sure, the set-up of romance is fairly common, but guys, that's nothing to turn you off about. It's not the MAIN thing. The main thing has PLOT. And the characters go under character development that a lot of Shounen manga don't have the time to do. The goal is pretty much clear at the beginning: To survive, and get helped/possibly rescued, but it's how they react to seeing extinct creatures and trying to make it out alive that's interesting.

THE ENDING THOUGH.

DID NOT EXPECT IT. Like as soon as we got into realization about what the school was and the picture, I was like--ARE THESE GUYS GHOSTS??? I still don't understand, but definitely was a twist I didn't expect.

the art....

sure, the story is kind of cool, but the art does not work with the story at all. And the characters are really simple.

The main character - simple hero
the girl - extremely attractive girl that has features that she should not and is in love with a wimpy main character

the rest of them are just plain boring, they really don't have much dept, no matter how you look at it. Unlike other amazing mangas like "battle royale", the author just can't handle this many characters.

Inspiring

Despite the previous comments from these people, they are but only a small majority of haters. The manga is an amazing manga taking a fast pace and strong viewpoint from characters. Despite being similar to "Lost" as people say, it has its own set of uniqueness and interest that easily blow other manga out of the competition as seen by its obviously high ratings.

The plot is awesome. Especially when they start getting into the information and history of the island, it's almost impossible to guess what this is all about and trust me, you'll be shocked about some of the things. There are so many mysteries and questions about the plot, as well as the characters that keep the manga interesting. Animal fighting? No, this manga isn't only about animal fighting, it's about much more.

Characters, there is a large majority of characters that are given screen time and later not as much. However, that's a given. A lot of characters are still developed and kept interesting with a few questions about them. Though the girls may seem useless, they're not. Both male and female characters have development and change for the best.

The art is good. It takes the typical art style that actually looks really good and the animals look so detailed, as well as the backgrounds.

There is a lot more to the manga than meets the eye. The author doesn't even forget characters he's made without names. It's obvious there's a lot of work and dedication into it and the ratings above also show this. Ignore the minority that says not to read it (I mean, really, one of the people gave it a 1 because they didn't like the heroine... grow up a bit), so... give it a try, most people won't regret it.

This manga has a poor plot, bland characters, a serious lack of realism in what is supossedly a survival story and really embarrassing lines.

It also has lots and lots of fanservice. The manga basically runs on pantyshots.

I won't bother repeating other peeps' criticisms, which pretty much are all spot on. I'll just mention my own pet peeve in this story: if indeed you were to find yourself on a super-ultra dangerous island full of vicious prehistoric animals, one of your first priorities would be weapons - like, say, let's take advantage of all the aluminum or other metals in the plane, as well as fabrics, and let's make some weapons. Instead, here we have one of the hotties as a martial artist, giving wimpy looking kicks to wild animals... Can anyone say CRUNCH? DIE. All of them should die, 'cos they are all prime candidates for the Darwin Awards.

Same Old, Over and Over

I enjoyed this to start, but after almost 80 chapters, the monster-fighting thing has gotten old. I'm no longer excited to see a new chapter. Instead I skim through. At this point in time, I think the mystery of the island really should have developed further. We've barely learned anything and it doesn't look like we'll learn anything anytime soon, since this current arc is just another variant of monster-fighting. I've given up.

Edit: Okay, in the current chapters the mystery of the island is developing and the story seems to have finally moved on from the monster format.

Thoroughly Entertaining

I've been reading the raws so I have read up to chapter 91, and let me say this manga is good.

It has the same survival and dangerous animal aspect of 7 Seeds, but there are more characters and it really feels like they have a community. I love the interpersonal aspects of the plot as much as the survival.

If it seems like a typical into the wild type manga, don't be fooled. The manga begins throwing curve balls left and right and have you wondering about the true nature of this island.

Spare the Women!

Well, I must say this series crept on me unexpectedly, I really didn't know what to expect with descriptions such as "Lord of the Flies spin-off" plus "Lost World" minus the dinosaurs.

It gets pretty rivalling and as a previous reader commented its a shounen a.k.a action hot blooded series, so female readers should be prepared to see some ridiculous fan service thrown in.

I can't really comment on the way the prehistoric gigantic mammals attack and kill the survivors in this, but i do love the "Battle Royale" theme, the inclusion of raw human emotion really appealed to me, while i was actually concerned the mangaka will shied away from these unpleasant realities, luckily he manage to do so without over saturating the reader yet able to tastefully convey the harsh truth of human nature. (e.g. rape, mob panic, murder)

However one of those flaws of being a shounen is the eyerolling optimism of the main character, especially the male lead, you would think, by now that you shouldn't completely trust new people they find and not to wander into the wild un-armed with...I dunno...SOMETHING.
The real lack of survival techniques employed by the kids are never really explained, so the only other time you see them eat or poop, you think they been surviving on berries and still make the silly mistake of wandering off into the bush without a guard or a weapon....

While you expect the naivety from poor 15yr old kids (and the occasional adult) thrust into the life/death situation, you would think by chapter 40+ (which seems to show a time scale of at leased a fortnight or more) that they should of gotten a inkling of the problems above.

But yes a potentially great read and being a male reader, i can't help but wince every time a girl is killed/murdered senselessly.

THE GENETIC POOL JUST DWINDLED! D:

Makes me weep everytime sad

If they want any hope of surviving, you need people! or you all end up being related to each other.... D:

But then again this won't matter one bit if they don't erect some earth embankments and start figuring out to forge tools/weapons or they won't survive in the next 6 months.... :/

Even if it stays true to it shounen roots and all that
but I like the survival theme and the protrayal of the prehistoric mamals is good (no Dinosaurs) the mamals of that time suffered of gigantism (i'm not joking)
one thing i don't like is the country ideal i find it irealistic they ought to start with a tribe or a village (towns didn't emerge until later when population growth reached a certain threshold )
---update
i wonder about the new "X people remaining" is it a reverse chapter counter like the one in "Battle Ship Yamato" ??
