Machika Balfaltin is a tomboyish, energetic 14-year-old girl who, upon the death of her grandfather, sets out to kill Methuselah, the one bounty her assassin grandfather, Zol the Grim Reaper, couldn't kill. Instead, however, Machika ends up being saved by Rain again and again from other aspiring bounty hunters attacking them both.
Sound like the beginnings of an odd relationship? You won't believe where their journey takes them...

Very nice manga

I really like the art in this one. Also, the fact that there's a human element to it all makes the story even better than most mangas out there. Following your heart doesn't always get you what you want here, and yet they do it anyways. I love it. The relationship between Rain and the others is played out well, I think. Distinct emotions put into actions and words unspoken go a long way in this one. Overall I give it a 10!

Never kill the bad guy

So, in reading this manga, you should know a couple things. First, the good guys are always attacked, and when they fight back, they never kill the bad guy. It doesn't matter what horrible things they've done, it doesn't matter how many people they've killed. Good guys can't kill the bad guys. Just because it would mean they would save lots of lives, doesn't mean they should actually take the life of someone bad. If you understand this, then you understand Immortal Rain.

Theres a lot of other stuff to the story. The romance between Machika and Rain. The relationships between the other characters as well. I give the story points for that. But what it really comes down to is, bad guys doing bad things, and no one stopping them.

definitely one of the best manga i've read. it's a good mix of shoujo and shounen, but the romance probably makes girls a bigger target. fast-paced, great plot and art, and wonderful character development (aka yay romance between rain and machika!). what's not to love? (besides the fact that we're all dying to read volume 9 TT___TT) seriously, go read it. now. bigrazz

They're human. They've got human qualities. And its great to see a author achieve this. He may not be human, but he is more human than any other being in the world. I love Rain. I love this manga. By far one of my favorite.

a great action/adventure story with a fast-paced plot and a wonderful array of lovable characters. And it's not all humor and fighting-there were a few scenes that tugged at my heart too. The art style is very shounen-like but great at expressing the characters' feelings. The girl is kickass but I wish she would stop calling out Rain's name so much- recalls bad memories of Fushigi Yuugi- where Miaka would be shouting Tamahome's name all the time.

The art is cute, clean and beautiful. Furthermore, the story makes sense. I actually can imagine how Yuca felt, why he said, to him, life or world was all dreams to no end, what made him suffer to the point he wanted to destroy all. Ozaki Kaori is definitely a great story teller.

This manga is by far one of my favorites. I can (and have) read it over and over without getting bored or tired of it. The characters are great, the plot is great---- it's all great. It has action, comedy, tragedy, romance, the whole package. I really like how it isn't a typical shoujo. There are no bubbles and flowers floating around randomly in the background. Even better, the heroine actually has a backbone! And the hero is someone you can really feel for. This is one of the few mangas that has actually made me cry. (a lot)

I recommend it!
