hilarious...not very realistic...but the comic situations, characters, plot, personalities...i say its very ingenious. The first couple books are introducing the characters, their own personal pasts and personalities. But there is always mystery from the start, hinting at the dark plot that is to ensue in the later books. There is also an anime series of this that follows the book nicely. It is a wonderful and funny read. It will have you giggle/laugh at its odd but appropriately placed puns and jokes. You wont' be disappointed

I CAN NOT BELIEVE I HAVE NOT COMMENTED

I can't believe I haven't commented on this series.

I got hooked - hell, that's an understatement. I was ADDICTED - to Ouran back in 2006. It was honestly the best thing to ever happen to me. Now look at where I am... addicted to manga.

Recently (read: yesterday), I was in bed sick and had nothing better to do but to re-read the first 4 manga volumes. I was instantly re-hooked. I went to catch up with the Japanese release of the manga, and OH EM GEE, total fangirl.

I am officially rehooked to this series. TAMAHARU FOR THE WIN. This has just jumped back to my top favourite shippings. Oh god, I LOVE YOU TAMAHARU. : ) God, this thing better have a satisfying ending... or I'll cry... I HATE CLIFFHANGERS. Come on chapter 76... COME ON... (Chapter 75 caused a knot in my stomach ... I ALWAYS WANTED A FLASHBACK OF THE BEACH EPISODE ;3).

Ahh I'm getting all hyped up.

I never knew it was possible to get re-hooked to something like this all over again.

I was wrong.

I wonder why I haven't made a comment until now, I mean I've been reading this for the last 3 and half years. Well I just have to say it's AWESOME I've never liked a manga sooo much. The plot is hilarious. But I have a feeling that it will soon end in the next 15 or 20 chapters. Or maybe not? I almost absolutely know for sure that this manga will have a sequel. Even though I love this manga so much, I am kind of wishing it to be over soon so Hattori Bisco can continue her other series Sennen no Yuki (Millennium Snow). Still I want to read a lot more chapters of this before that happens.

One of a Kind

Ouran, though the art style is iffy at the beginning, and its characters are unforgetable! The main heroine, Haruhi, is very unique from other shojo girls. Guys and falling in love are not at the top of her list of priorities, and she doesn't fall for any of the hosts the instant she shes them.
The rest of the hosts are so lively and fun! Most of them are so excitable and curious about the "commoner" culture and lifestyle.
This series, unlike other satires such as Wallflower, makes fun of any cliche', but is sincere and has a lot of heart to it.
If you're looking for funny, look no further than the Ouran anime. The art is fantastic, and every comedy scene has a lot of detail. No stick figures are used and everything is in full color.
I reccommend both the anime and manga to anyone looking for comedy and memorable characters.

i really love Ouran (though i haven't read all of it). the characters are interesting, charming, and 100% lovable! the story is cute too and it's so hilarious! =3

my only complaint about this manga is the art. -_- it's pretty bad. yes, it gets better in the later volumes but for me, it's still pretty bad.

Ok so apparently everyone thinks it's good- well I do too smile I actually did not read the manga, just the anime. Also apparently the anime goes to vol. 9 and the manga's still ongoing on vol. 14 (at least that's what it says on the info here). This was really good though, and I would highly recommend the anime- short (kinda-26 episodes) and sweet. smile

This series is delightfully lighthearted and entertaining, so I found it to be exceptionally enjoyable. There are a lot of fuzzy feelings and a great deal of cuteness as well as a peek into the depths of a painful past. I also found the characters to be very likeable, but that's definitely up to individual readers to decide.

Tamaki's erratic behavior and astounding level of Idiosyncrasy contrast very well with his gentle nature and troubled past, which is the case for some other characters as well. I suppose I'd find the twins' interactions to be a bit troublesome if I cared about that kind of stuff, but for me its just another source of lulz.

As other users have stated, there are plenty of frivolous lulz in the start of the series, but as things go on, there is a great deal of character development. I don't feel like any of the host club members is 2-dimensional, and that in itself is remarkable, especially in regards to the amount of development that has occurred within the number of current releases (ch 70, atm).

What 'really' sets this apart from other series, was the fact that I never got bored. The series has grown to be more emotionally involving and profound, while maintaining a high level of lulz; that's a tall order, but this mangaka has done it.

For those others of you who have a Y chromosome: you could do a LOT worse than Ouran.

I luv this manga!! the female lead makes me happy because she isn't perfect, but at the same time, she isn't stoooooooopid. I also like how she doesn't immediately fall in love with the male lead (is there really one, single male lead? I guess there sorta is.) and start acting like a wuss. idk. the art is also pretty good and the story+characters are funny, sooooo....yea....
anyways, though, i totally recommend it!

I really like this series - characters are likable and funny, the plot is excellent, and there's enough of a serious note sort of tangled within the story to really make it interesting. And I laugh a lot when I read this, usually.

It is kind of long, and I felt like parts of it dragged, but all in all, it's worth reading. Try it for the amazing bishies, if nothing else ;P
