Description
Shinichi Kudo is a high-school student who, by using observation and deduction, is good at solving mysteries. While investigating one, he is caught by the criminals that he was watching and forced to take an experimental drug. Leaving him for dead, the criminals disappear. Instead of killing him, however, the drug turns Shinichi into a little kid.
To preserve the illusion of his 'disappearance,' Shinichi adopts a new name based on his favorite author (Arthur Conan Doyle) and becomes Conan Edogawa. Ran, his (actually Shinichi's) childhood friend takes this little boy under her wing and bring... More...

Conan now lives at a detective agency run by Ran's father, but his mind is as keen as ever and he continues to solve mysteries... always allowing Ran's father to take all the credit.
As far as everyone's concerned, Conan is just a little kid anyway... even to Ran. This is *extremely* frustrating to Conan since nobody will listen to a 'little boy.' Despite this, Conan has a mission... to find the criminals who did this to him and get the antidote to that drug.

The series started out really great and had me reading every case since I was young, following it diligently for more than 8 years already. The plot involving the Black Organization had me hooked for a very long time. But once it passed vol60, it starts to get repetitive. An introduction of a new BO member isn't helping much to move the plot.
Like a user said below, I'm now just downloading each chapter, skimming through and just hoping that the plot will take a notch up instead of just another chapter of crime case. Everything seems to go stagnant after Akai's part.

It's definitely one of the best manga I've ever read. The cases are mostly simple, unlike Kindaichi, but the way it were solved is what makes me excited. And the fact that there's a primary enemy, the Black Organization, is another thrilling part. Well, the most thrilling part, actually.
I don't know when it will end, since the main story progress so slow. But I think Aoyama Gosho already figured how to end the story. He just doesn't want to do it yet. And I guess same goes with me ^_^

This series is quite a masterpiece, the only really bad thing about it is that the story do progress but not by a lot, it's almost like inspector gadget that you'll never find out about the bad guys behind it all and their evil plan.
Though the new characters and even just the slight hints make the whole story refreshing after a while, it goes back to normal unrelated cases, but it's interesting the artist keep bringing us new ideas and creating new short cases, so it's quite entertaining, but you might get bored of it after a while if you're looking to know more about the main story, since it's quite repetitive and long, which happened to me quite often when I catch up to the series, I stop for a few months then I go back looking for more after the series pile up again, but still I recommend this series if you like a light hearted detective story, the characters and story are entertaining and cute at times, not to mention massive amount of characters.

this manga is great!! i will agree that the plot is moving slow, and i really wanna know the ending now. it seems that time doesn't go very fast in the manga, like one year hasn't even passed yet?? the movies are better. hehe. there was one arc with the bomber case, conan and takagi trap in lift. that was cool, coz at the end sato nearly kissed takagi!! haha. i love chapters with the 2 of them. =D

This is the best detectice manga I've ever read. No wonder its been running for 11+ years. I love all the characters in this manga. It gives my brain an exercise every time I watch/read it. I saw this before, but because the art didn't appeal to me, I left it, but it some how found it way back to me again, and now I'm hooked. It's soo good, that even an art picky person like myself love it.

worthy of everyone's attention, this multi-multi-million copy selling manga really is something. Probably the most educational yet entertaining series out there, this mangaka deserves my respect. Drawing style changes considerably from vol 1 to vol 50, but nevertheless Aoyama has certainly sharpened his skills over the last decade. Fantastic series, i recommend to everyone.

Ok, the story is more than unlikely. But it never wanted to be realistic anyway. The characters are funny and the crimes are for the most interesting and ingenious. The main plot almost never develops, it's more of an episodic manga, but that's fine considering its genre.
i love it but its sooooo long

i really love it. I have read it, and I even watch the anime ver up until to now.
Of course like many other comments here, im also wondering when and how will this end.
but I believe that this is also one of the attracting points of this manga.
And besides, as much as I wud love to know the ending it also scares me.
The thought of a good manga/anime coming to an end, its scary.
so i'll just go with aoyama's flow and continue to watch and read detective conan.

Thing is, sometimes I notice the suspicious acts of the suspects, but I can never deduct the tricks and the hows. Nevertheless I enjoy every chapter of this manga, though I wished there were less murders and more "innocent" mysteries, like a theft, or just a puzzle by the prof/teacher. I also admire the mangaka, who kept the same simple but nice artstyle throughout these long years.

Now, This is a manga that I can specifically recommend to mystery novel fans. For the rest of you who aren't so much into mystery, it's not for you probably. It's long for a REASON; that reason being that people really like it and want to see it continue. Also, Gosho has yet to actually repeat the same trick or technique in any case. They are ALL different. In any case, this is a specific audience range: it is NOT for everybody. However, I would still suggest that you start looking at it. Who knows. You might like it.
