This is one of my favorite mangas of all times. I read a lot of shoujo mangas but this one is so different n beautiful. It didn't drag and it makes you feel fluffy inside. I meant thought it be a shoujo cliche but it wasn't at all. Like Mayuri wasn't like a bitch about knowing the Ren and Ninako liked each other. She set Ren free knowing that their was no real love in their relationship.

In fact, the series was a bit boring to the end but I loved it. It had some things that I relate to and I it was a series that got me going til the very end. I wish there was more after the final chapter I thought there would be more problems and suspense. But in all I really love this series.

Right mood a must

Update: It may be cliche but it's a given due to the genre. This doesn't mean it's boring, to the contrary even with all the drama i was hooked. Sure sometimes i had to remind myself how overly dramatic my thoughts and feelings got whilst a teenager, so that might have helped, but i didn't really hate any character.

Sometimes the hype is right, but i'm not sure if i can agree with this one. Only got through the first 2 volumes, but i'm going to take a break and start it when i'm in the right mood. I just can't take how ridiculously shoujo the story is so far, but that's only because i was hoping for something different.
Not sure what some are saying about it not being cliche; perhaps i have read more shoujo mangas than them? Because so far the characters are pretty typical of the genre, the only slight difference is the plot....but the fact that i would have to read at least 9 volumes before it actually gets anywhere romantically, has very little appeal right now.

I would recommend to be read, when in the mood for a good shoujo. Take into account though that it contains lots of teenage drama, which is pretty realistic.

A manga you want to tell everyone how great it is

I have read my fair share of shoujo manga, and this...this was something different. Not once was there a time when I thought "cliched!" because all of the cliches were done in such a way as to make them natural; the love traingle were not thrust upon the reader to make the story longer, nor was the first love blown out of proportion. The characters didn't fall in love in a second, and the main character stayed true to herself. There was no angst-filled misunderstandings and only one bitchy girl (who appeared near the end and in actual fact wasn't all that bitchy).
I read this manga in two days (which would have been less but I had school). Ten volumes and I never felt board; the story flowed naturally. In this world of cliche, angst, melodrama and girl's who say one thing and do another, Strobe Edge is a breath of fresh air. I would recommend it to anyone.

I doubted it at first despite the hype because i thought "man this is gonna be a typical shoujo manga with the popular good lookin guy and the cute innocent girl". In my opinion, this shoujo manga was quite different from the rest. It's not cliche where they fall in love in an instant but instead, they take their time. I really loved how realistic it was and i loved the obstacles that came her way. The whole time i was just thinking "man.. i love how real this is." It was an amazing manga and it'll take you on a journey to that reality of love.
Very refreshing. Definitely a rare shoujo

Art was nice... Boring. UGH

I read it because of the hype and praise around it. I love sakisaka's art and her plot devices are usually quite original. But personally in my opinion, this was a very boring read. Ren seemed to bland; too underdeveloped. He was a flat character. There I said it. Andou was fun but then he became a pathetic try-hard... Actually he was always a pathetic little try-hard. Ninako was cute and strong but she was almost Mary-sue. Yes I too am a hater lol. So she doesn't take Andou to her advantage but she's a kid; who cries at everything and anything; who makes cute faces. She was extremely annoying and I felt the need to give her a good punch in the face because nothing instills more common sense than a good punch in the face.

I do recommend this however, for it is a light read. I suppose some of its plot devices are original but what can you expect from shoujo? They're all bound to be the same sooner or later. And yes I agree with the reviewer who said that "Basically, all Ren has to do in this story is open his arms and Ninako will fall into his lap". I don't even see ANYTHING appealing from Ren besides that he's brooding and attractive (typical male for ANY shoujo). I still MUST complain about how underdeveloped and bland and flat this character is. It was until the last few chapters that I went like "WTF?" He was so OOC.

I don't think there's anything original and unpredictable about this. She still ends up with Ren (who is obvious right from the start) and the fact that she is so bound set on him. Nothing in this manga made Ren up to be as amazing as the main character makes him out to be. Even after FINISHING this manga I still can't understand WHY and WHAT about Ren that is so amazing. Is it because he's attractive? Brooding and mysterious? Like the reviewer who said that this will appeal to high schoolers; this is quite childish. You know a good read is when you care about the characters. Well I actually felt really sorry for them and I could honestly care less about what happens to them.

Actually I can harp on about how disappointing and boring I think this manga is made out to be. But I won't. I still would recommend this; for those who enjoy a light shoujo read.

This was tbh really , really boring . . .nothing exciting happened I just wanted a twist in the story but I knew I would never get it and it kind of got me angry. Yeah it says in the description its about a girl trying to get the guy she likes . . . so what's the point I don't see any future for this because obviously she's gonna get the guy with a few obstacles. It was just really bland and I got really bored with the same drama over and over again, I mean I felt trapped in the same places(train/school) no change at all .its litually exactly what it says . . .nothing more then that . Ren for me personality was also bland and the girl wasn't to 'pretty' either she had too much of a baby face also when they cried it looked weird and unreal(hey I'm just pointing it out) all she did was go on about ren! and was a total idiot and tbh it was to the point of complete disbelief(in the beginning) all I can say is don't expect any master piece from this .

Although this is the typical "girl meets guy" story, it is incredibly heartwarming and the reader can relate to the characters. The factor that makes it differ from other stories is its character development. Most stories just label typical stereotypes and show no real rounded sides of the character. This story is different. It shows the characters' concerns, flaws, habits, and everything else that define a personality. This, for me, is what makes the story fresh and not boring. Even though one can predict the ending, it was still a good plot to follow through and it was interesting to see how the characters changed over the course of their troubles and experiences.

wow this is actually one of the few that had me crying for the losing party. it's funny, innocent and very realistic. a light read that can make you really laugh out loud, N times. i love the main characters for being human! and i love love love! gacchan especially when he goes like "--Ren...". hahaha smile i like how each of the supporting characters are so interesting that i had no problem with reading their side stories. in fact, im still wondering how that much side stories can fit in just 10 volumes?
while this may seem like your average shoujo, im happy to say that each development in the story is like a surprise to me. the endpoint may be obvious but the journey through it makes reading this worthwhile. smile and the art and pacing is beautiful. i would love to see this in anime!

and i really have to say this... ren looks like jaejoong. hahaha smile) so each of ninako's encounters with ren made me empathic towards her. i feel for her! smile) hahaha
