Loved it!

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Don't let the murder scenes at the beginning intimidate you (as it did me).
This is definitely one of those manga which I regretted delaying reading. The ending was beautiful and realistic. For those who've contemplated suicide before, I think this could help change your mind. Both characters lives are tragic (guy's is worse than girl's for me), both have contemplated suicide but incredibly it made me think "If you can't find a reason to live for yourself, live for others." Thinking that the guy's life may be the life of some other kid in real life makes my heart ache and makes me feel foolish for giving up. The role the girl

and her aunt
plays in the guy's life inspires me to be more useful. I loved how the guy observes not just sees things like most people do. The girl was suicidal and yet... Anyways, check it out! (It's only one volume :3)

You what will happen at the end of the story but still read it. I dislike sad endings in mangas' too but don't let it discourage you to not read it. The plot is really great and different from other mangas'.
The ending made me cry and I am a guy too.

Overall read this manga because its just that great even with sad endings. I rarely if ever rate mangas with 10s so it shows that it is special.

Never!...

This manga, based on a novel, with a small difference, it won't let you feel warm in the end...it won't let you make a wide smile due to a happy ending, it won't make you understand and be slightly wiser than you were before reading it, it won't make you feel bad you're here, but it will make you look up to the window and search for that feeble snow, falling gently, (it will make you silently listen to that steady rain, it will make you remember the thistle)...it will make you remember that life and love should never be understated, never!

a beautiful tragedy.

this is one of the most beautiful mangas i`ve ever read. it has honestly made me think a lot, about life, about living. i`ve thought about suicide before on many occasions, and i`ve attempted to commit the act twice because i just didn`t want to live in pain for another day, but this made me think, if i did, how would my family feel if they found me, hanging from the ceiling of my room, or with a bloody wrist. how would my family live, would they lose their smile because of me? i am also a victim of sexual harassment. my dad, when i was younger, would strip me of my clothing, and run his manhood in areas he should never have access to, but it happened anyway. i was only seven then, i did not understand anything. when i was older, and mature enough to understand what he did, i felt disgusted in myself, that i let him do that to me. that, and all the abuse and peer pressure that i had surrounding me, was the reason why i first tried to take my life. i ate a full pack of those silica gel packets that you find in your shoebox. nothing happened to me, of course. but i was only about 11 then, and i was already thinking so negatively. i don`t what would have happened if they were toxic, and i died then. i don`t want to think about it much either. but anyways, i totally recommend this, it`s a beautiful tragedy. just remember to have a tissue box with you, or else your sleeves would be completely soaked, like mine was during the first half of the manga.

Inspiring

I nearly cried, which has only happened a handful of times in the ~7 years I've been reading manga.

The story itself is very cliche and predictable, and the morals were ones that have been used many times before... But the way it was delivered, omg. Her artwork is perfectly suited for a story like this, and the text was very moving in itself.

I completely agree with the "if you didn't like it, you didn't get it" statement (that entire review, really). Trying to analyze the manga based on the fact that it's cliched or preachy (which I didn't find to be true, compared to other mangas) would only lead to missing the bigger picture.

I adore this gem from Sahara Mizu/Sumomo Yumeka/whatever she wants to call herself. It was short and to the point, and I really think it's amazing what she was able to get across in one volume.

I loved this story so much. Like most other people, I cried big wet tears at the end. It was beautiful and touching, and not sappy or fake at all. The story was realistic, and I would recommend this manga to anyone. A wonderful and heartbreaking read.

so okay. I was like really crying through out the entire manga.

First, I didn't really intend to read this. I'm not really into TRAGICAL STORIES. I loathe them. I find reading manga as my way of escaping reality but I ended up reading this. This bittersweet reality-based manga. It moved me. I can't actually recall any manga that made me feel this way. Very touching!

Art- Good, Likable.
Story- Again. It's already written on it's genre. There's TRAGEDY. so the story is bittersweet but it's beautiful.
Characters- Superb! They're just awesomely written.

Super RECOMMENDED for those who wants to find a new edge of reading.

A beautiful story, one of strength and faith and love and above all, hope. You can sense completely the mangaka's fervent belief in the lessons this story imparts, which was incredibly powerful for me as a reader, as well. The art is lovely - although was a bit distracting for me, because it didn't quite match the tone of the story - but will soothe your aesthetic senses nevertheless. A word to the wise, however: this manga doesn't have a happy ending, but ends on a hopeful beginning. Enjoy.

Wow. I thought that I wasn't going to cry cos I've read pretty tragic stories before, but damn. I'm still crying. It's the first manga I've cried over. Very heartbreaking yet beautiful. I recommend it alot.
