as i like RPG games i love how the scenario in this novel plays out, how the actions of induviduals with the advanced AI incorporated in the game may affect the world they play in.

i also like how the player weed solves his quests not by beeing the highest level commanding the best armies but rather trough hard work and thoughtfull and sometimes decietfull tactics.

While imercenary who has not completely read further into the book might give you a review like

"When you break it down, this is a heavily cliched, straight-forward story: A teenage character with family and money problems learns that his expert-at-all-skills, too-lazy-to-use-it-in-real-life talent is extremely valuable and seeks to utlize it... in a video game. Cue mentally retarded cast of side characters and a universe (video game) where world-breaking powers are accessible merely by finding the loopholes and minmaxing; and this is the result."

it is completely false not only is weed successfull in the game but he is also succesfull in real life and does utilize his skills in real life the side characters also have a life of there own that you end up being able to enjoy and the main character is not only unique due to his class but also for his hard working personality and love for money while many may compare this to sword art online it is the general consensus of people who have read the novel that weed is better not only does The legendary moonlight sculptor draw you in with its combat and characters but also its lore and unique system that is similar to .hack were the system runs itself if you enjoy video games or vrmmorpgs then this is worth prepare for a novel never like before and dive into the adventure of weed

OK, so the MC is super smart, super strong, super hardworking, and just plain super good at whatever he does. He has a old grandma and a little sister to take care of, he would sacrifice anything for them, he has to deal with debt that his dead parents left, his sister is even perfect (smart, beautiful, popular, etc.), his potential GF is ridiculously beautiful and smart and strong and kind, and etc. etc. etc. Basically, your perfectly cliched hero with a cliched setting and cliched plot. Overdone? Hell yeah.

BUT! Man, but I really just can't dislike it. I think it's super awesome. His personality is just too hilarious, I think... The author turns a overdone character and plot and makes it interesting and fun. This novel really shows that it's the how something is written, not what it writes about, that matters. Great so far, makes me wish I could read it in its original language.

If ever there were a time for the korean-english translators to unite and translate, this would be the series. If ever there were a time for Japan to animate korean works, this would be the time. If ever there were a manhwa artist to illustrate this series this would be the time. Hell if I could overthrow the world order to get this drawn, animated or translated this would be series to do it over. What's that say about the series well if you know me I'm rather reserved about the whole overthrow the world thing, but this is different. Greatest Main Character Ever. Also if you like this one see Sword Art Online, Yureka or Id.

Well now that a good chunk has been translated it's been 2 years, and frankly here is the new review:
First the character stays true to his character he only ever thinks of money and his motivations are always money, but beyond that he is good person.
Second the author has a way of devising scenarios and finding ways to make them so it isn't an overpowered man fighting them but a struggle with the main character outmatched, and he solves them not through a power-up or training montage but with a unique methodology that leads him to a better outcome.
I still find this series unique and he still remains a fun dark hero to read about, and I hear there is a webtoon inbound, so here is for hope that I won't have to go down the path of world domination to see an animation.

Rooting for him

Life has taught this man some hard lessons that I'm hoping he'll have to reevaluate as he plays. Many great men (i.e. Carnegie, Rockefeller) had the same ruthlessness. He's manipulative and charming as a politician. Maybe something in the game will change that. But he hasn't hurt anyone and until he does I'll root for him. He sees money as a protective shield and who could blame him? Hopefully he finds that there's more to life. But who knows.

I haven't noticed any sadistic tendencies on his part so it must not be *that* clear. He is all about give and take because it has proven the most effective to obtain his goals.

It seems that his sister has a brother complex but he looks at her as more of a daughter than a sibling. I didn't find anything disgusting about his behavior towards her at all.

alphaGulp:

Your original point was against the protagonist. I have nothing to say about his sister’s feelings, but they have little to nothing to do with his own. The protagonist has done nothing wrong in this case.

When I used the word ‘great’ I in no way meant ‘good’. It is still up in the air whether our protagonist will be a ‘good’ man but he has all the makings of a great one: sly cunning and ambition. Rockefeller and Carnegie held immense sway and great power- there’s no denying that. Let’s not argue over semantics. Contrary-wise to their cruelty, in many ways the main character has shown a level of humanity that gives me hope: he is fair (for the most part), he loves his family and he is able to form warm feelings towards others.

He is driven but not cruel. I hope for the best.

This next bit is only conjecture, but his art speaks of a passionate soul that he doesn't even realize he owns. He feels deeply- a man as committed as he is to the welfare of his family must.

For the record: what Carnegie and Rockefeller accomplished was not easy. Stepping on people, using others and cruelty are common. Becoming powerful isn't.

Reading isn't experiencing.

One of my fave due to the fact that the MC chosen path in his life and his lack of talent in every field can be overcome through shear hard work.

He came from a close knitted but debt ridden family, so his childhood was crappier than most. But you dont see him running around acting tough, join a gang, beat people up to relieve him of his anger and his position in life. No, he decided at a helluva young age that he's gunna work for the sake of his only two remaining family members. No one gave him hand-me-downs, no one offered him help; so he learned that the only thing he can rely on is himself, and worked through the pain for the grandmother that raised him, and the little sister he have to take care of as a father.

The MC caught on lucky break in his life when he sold his game account, but ultimately was taken from him about a day after he gotten it. Then he figured as 'i did it once, i can do it again,' and devoted a year into researching the games and building up his body. Both requires a ridiculous amount of hardwork: researching by means of gaining all the information from those before him, and building up his body by means of swinging his sword till his blisters oozes with blood. Tell me, where's is his expert-in-every-skill appears here? Just hard work.

In game, he's a true socialpath; he tends to use people, but they usually received a boost or some kind of reward for their hardwork and going along with his flow. That's why even those that knows how he is doesnt stray from him, because he never once use-then-toss them away. He worked hard to get to where he's at: at the beginning where he mind-numblingly swung his blade(in game) for hours to earn just one stat point, to fighting stronger monsters that resulted in his death many times over. Sculpting statues for days to increase stats, cooking thousands of meals raise stats, repairing hundreds of thousands of times on equipment to raise stats; there aint any talent here, just constant work because he knows the second chance he'd get isnt gunna be given out in the real world, but to be earn in the game world. He also cleared multiples of hard quests for his level where spectators deemed impossible for those doubled his level using his smarts...and he died plenty of times during so.

Like i've said, reading isnt experiencing. You may know how things flow from reading an already written text, but the moment you actually stepped in their shoes and tread the path they chose to take.............ur screwed because ur mindset is 'i got talents, i can do anything/ i got powers, i can crush anything/ i got smarts, i can use anything.' Respect for this MC, everything he got, he earned as he worked.

There are scans up to chapter 20 by OddSquad, and you really don't feel bored reading this! Reading all the descriptions of stats is tedious at times, but honestly, the story is awesome! It really makes you feel like you're in the game. Hyun Lee is also really epic- he's is totally awesome. He's such a jerk at times, lol, but in a cool way. Seriously, I wish more was scanlated and translated- this is awesome! Funny, captivating, and addicting. I'm really looking forward to more! -edit- OMG, NOOO, my heart sank when I read that OddSquad is dropping this... -cries- Why can't I read Korean? Or translate or whatever? I think I'll just have to go hunt for this in the corners of the web... -sigh-

Like Daxisheart said: only 2 out of the 33 volumes of this novel are translated at the moment. The rest of it you can read through a combination of shoddy machine translations and attempted summaries by fans. But I read through EVERY VOLUME. It's just that good.

LMS is, hands down, the best of the 'virtual reality' stories online. It's captivating, it's funny, and it gets better the farther along it goes. The scope of the world expands, but it keeps to it's core characters, so you never feel like you've lost a hold of what's going on.

And Weed is a manipulative, miserly guy whose sheer charisma makes up for it; not to mention his skill and Determinator-like tendencies. Plus he's hilarious. He may be bordering on perfect... but his personality is LOL.

The main character can be described in one word "Perfect-est-er"

The main character has really boring traits... If there is one thing that is good, MC is better. If there is another thing that is good, MC is better. MC is able to handle being alone, but when in a group he is charismatic and is a natural leader. MC is hard working, and smart with his money. Whenever MC levels up, his character receives gigantic boosts when compared to other players. He has super powerful perfectester skills too! Nothing stops Mr. Perfectester. But oh no! He runs into girl who is his type, she plays a crappy class but BAM SHE IS SO PERFECT TOO!

With that said, for some reason I enjoy this story...
