I first saw the anime and i liked it, but then i read the first volume and didnt wanna see Keitaro become a pervert again. Eventually, i did read all14 Volumes of Love Hina, and i loved volumes 13+14 because they were based on Keitaro and Naru. The ending was more like a hilarous ending than a romantic one. Feel sad for the new girl.

this is really good

There's none, this one's just one of the best, Love Hina suits most of people, except ultra-sensitive bastrads who won't admit they actualy like ecchi stuffs and condemn this because of it. Laove Hina emphasizes story above anything else, the comedy mixes in, the romance is just good, and the situation is amusing, truly a must read!

Way over rated. I used to tout it as uber awesome, that is only because my intro to anime was (5+ years ago) : Pokemon (I hated) > DBZ (I liked) > Love Hina > Tenchi Muyo...

But I recently reread, it is mediocre at best. Stupid characters, stupid plot, there are plenty of much better harem mangas, and that is if you are even a harem manga fanatic (aka, willing to accept an uber looser who never had a GF suddenly getting a gaggle of girls all at once, and getting new ones at the drop of the hat)

But I am not rating this low because it is harem, I love harems, this one is just a manga that is mediocre at best.

Both the anime (i just glanced at it for confirmation) and manga are bad but the manga is a bit better done and just listen to me and Bennett the Sage as his Love Hina reviews are very funny and insightful. We both sure hate Akamatsu equally but dislike his Negima (3/10) more than this circle jerk so me and ecchi/harem will never be friends. No character development, no romance, no dating, no sex, thus no service i always say. I actually started to dislike the series half way through when i read it more than 10 years ago as a teenager so the art and the very first stories are the only saving grace. To think i actually played my own money for this.
Ah the sins of youth but i learned and the harem genre has been dead to me ever since so thank you Love Hina for that. A good series about an actual harm would be Ooku (8,5/10) and the deconstructive Sayonara Zetsubou-Sensei (9/10) should be the final word on the genre. At least this series isn´t porn in disguise but Akamatsu does yuri/loli hentai on the side too. Sigh.

The quintessential harem manga

I'm not a huge fan of the harem genre since they're mostly all the same, but Love Hina was the first manga I ever read to completion, and I loved it.

This is the manga that really jump-started Ken Akamatsu's career, and for good reason - it's literally one of the defining works of the harem genre. Although it initially presents the usual stereotypical characters such as the useless male protagonist, the shy loli and the tsundere hot-blooded girl, over the course of the series Akamatsu develops each and every one of them into deep, complex characters with interesting personalities and backgrounds, which is what got me hooked.

The art style is high quality, typical of Akamatsu's work, and improves dramatically over time like that of any good artist. Although the story may seem typical at first LH provides its own little twist by initally making all the girls hate the protagonist, whereas the typical harem manga has them all over him from the start.

The only real criticism I have for this manga is that the whole "close but no cigar" plot device of the Keitaro-Naru relationship got really old, especially towards the end where it seemed completely unnecessary given that they were an actual couple by then. It's enough to drop my rating of this series by a half point, but otherwise this series is a must-read classic.
