Must read

so far with 3 volumes of reading (no-stop) i can say this is a runner up, its really kept me reading as well having several mystery witht he action pack/gore and emotions from the victim faces. The only problem is can the author lead his reader after throwing so much action and gore? Can he keep such high level tempo or even able to convert something else into gold. Even if these problems pop up i'm willing to continue to read this as its 2 good and above the mainstream mangas.

I haven't read Claymore or Gantz or any of those other manga, so I will give an unbiased opinion: this one is great. Maybe even epic in the sense that the titans are scary sh*t. I have read many gory manga or manga claiming to be horror, but none of them phased me a bit. The titans in this manga creep me out. You can almost feel the terror with the people in this manga and that is due to a very talented author.

I enjoy the characters in this manga. Eren is complex enough to draw you in and there is a good amount of mystery about him, and I'm not just talking about the obvious things.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
For example, he murders three people as a kid. It was to help Mikasa, but still, I have to wonder if he's completely stable. Guess it runs in the family?

Mikasa is great. She's not one of the cliche pansies that make me cringe.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Even when she thinks Eren is dead, she goes on and is resolved to fight. She keeps her priorities staight.

As for Armin, he is a bit cliche, but necessary and he compliments the other two nicely.

As a bonus this manga has focus (Thank god). No panties, no huge boobs, no romance, no guys trying to act tough etc. The author portrays people realistically. A guy isn't going to play it cool and give 5 hour speeches or internal monologues when people are getting ripped apart 10 feet away.

Thank you Isayama-sensei for not being a douche.

the most awesome story ever!!! great drama, and fresh story biggrin
there's no other manga like this.... well it most look like GANTZ, but I like this manga more...
actually GANTZ is a bit too long in the fighting scene, so it makes me a bit bored....

MUST READ!!! 100% RECOMMENDED

the last volume, volume 3 really sukd which was a huge downer imo. It didn't make much sense and ontop of that it was a flash back. Still I won't knock the entire series for that one thing. Im looking forward to the next volume and hopefully it gets back on track.

It's an okeysh sort of seinen but still got a ten milion Light-year way to compete with what is out there. Not to say it's bad, but first arc of claymore is on another level, without even bothering sacred beast like Mugen no Juunin or Vagabond or Berserk or ecc.. ecc..

This is a really fascinating manga! the plot is amazing and the characters are likable, a very different/good shounen manga I've read in a while. I thought it would be a lot like gantz and claymore but it's actually very very different and similar in a way. The art is not wonderfully beautiful but unique in a way, you get used to by the 2nd or 3rd chapter.
the manga gives off the rough grim feel in the first page, getting you ready that this is not a tra-la-la happy-happy go go manga. It's a bit intense and somewhat gory, but the plot is quite amazing. The main character isn't some typical "I'm going to save to world" type of guy, the characters there are more human, showing fear, love, shock, and sadness in a more humane manner.
the manga has choppy flow, makes you re-read some panels twice but overall the manga itself is quite good.

This manga reminds me of Claymore a lot, which is a good thing because Claymore is one of my favorite manga. But yes, definitely it is a darker shounen with a lot of gory scenes. Nothing like the silly ones such as Ao no Exorcist, Naruto, Katekyo Hitman Reborn, Fairy Tail, etc.

At first it sounds generic; Humans against Titans. But the characters know what they do and they have strategies. Not to mention there is a lot of mystery considering the main characters and the Titans.

Spoiler (highlight to view)
Like, about the race where Mikasa is coming from or the injection that Eren's father gave him. And I somehow get the feeling that Eren's father is connected to the Titans...

Although I don't like the artwork. The author is giving more emphasis to the Titans details rather the characters. But I assume because he is new, his artwork will eventually be improved.

As for the characters; Personally I find Eren kinda boring and I prefer Mikasa. She is mysterious, tough and stoic. Eren... Well, he is just seeking revenge and he wants to eliminate all of the Titans.

I don't have much to say because it is early. But definitely one of the new best shounen out there.

chapters succession isn't smooth. leaving the readers wonder "did i miss some pages before?". and then, too soon for flash back. too soon for side story. but other than that, very good. i think i'll wait some more volumes to see how well the manga will improves.

a bit update:
too convenient. characters introduced wholly, literal, as if the readers cannot comprehend roles without being fully explained. turns of events also too convenient, revelation placed before actual action, severely cut down complexities and charms of story. however, all of that is verily acceptable, since the manga aimed at boys (often analogues to un-charming simplification).

sounds dissenting? well, it IS. to balance all praises written above and below me.

You need to continue reading it. Because sometimes you will be surprised by the story! It has its own turns and even makes sense without being confusing. ^^
The art style is unusual, but not bad. It's not particulary stunning or impressive, but has its own original touch. The colouring is also quite nicely done, the characters are fascinating.
I guess the rating tells you whether you should read it or not, hm? 92 votes for 10 points.... nearly none for the category 1 until 5. Do I need to say more? I mean, besides: Read it, it's freaking worth it?

It's often in a manga, they depict a monster or some kind, which is supposed to be very scary

Those manga show the characters to be very scared, most pissed their pantsu, like those Novas from Freezing

They are supposed to be scary, but, me the readers don't feel scared at all, guess their decision to be in borderline between ecchi and scary made it lost both purposes

But this manga, wew, those giants are terrifying man...., I would've pissed my pants if I encounter any of those, hell, I might've crapped my pants

Those human like yet not being, seeing you full of curiosity, like you would see a rare insect, then they will use that big hands to embrace you... and then snapped you in half and bite your head..

This change my view of giants, I don't even like Guiliver anymore, now that u think about it, by every step he can turn you into a puddle of blood

NO IT'S SCARY!!
