Some where along the line it started to drag.

Overall the characters are generally well designed but mostly static. At times the amount of characters addressed in a chapter is overwhelming and causes me to lose track of the situation. This is accented by the fact that the story is progressing rather slowly and often leaves me feeling that nothing happened in given chapters. Perhaps the flow is more consistent in volume format but I have doubt. As of chapter 165, after a noticeable 30ish chapter slump, the series appears to be back on track. Hopefully it'll stay that way.

I never thought I would say this but: It´s getting boring... I really like d. gray man but i thing they just can put in some other charackters like girls!!! (maybe Just because I´m a girl, too.. :-) and with it a little lovestory!!! even though lenalee is a girl I don´t like her that much... but when i think more about it love/romance would ruin the whole series... Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!!!!!!!!

I find myself getting bored whilst reading this. Somehow despite the characters (I am only reading this for Kanda appearances now) I find myself skimming the pages and glazing over when reading fights fights and more fights.

Even though this series have surpassed all my expectation , the art is quiet nice and it have a decent and quiet unpredictable plot to go with it but still i fail to find it enjoyable to read. The character are full of crybabies, they're weak and emoish, they end up crying and feeling bad over anyone who dies over the course of the story which is like in the end of almost every arc, someone dies.
Overall this isnt a bad shonen manga at all, better than other one like Naruto,Op,and Bleach and stuff

I just marathoned the entire series from chap one till the latest chapter. Man... I must say, it's excellent! My first encounter with it was "meh" not that good. i guess i must have read a crappy chapter, and left it alone for quite some time. Just happened to be bored, so i watched an episode of the anime, and man! was i hooked! Started looking for all it's anime episodes, and it led me to reading the manga as well. Lenalee pisses me off at times, but she incredibly cute! So she forgiven. The mangaka has done a very good job storytelling it. The art is good, and it is quickly replacing bleach as my favourite shounen manga. The mangaka will be having a well-deserved break now, but i eagerly await future chapters!! Gokurosama!

Really, wow is all that I can say. Extremely creative and original, I absolutely love this series. I've watched both the manga and anime, and I have to say that it's definitely one of the best I've seen thus far.
What I love best about this series is its fantastic character designs and developments, and its endless humor and surprises that makes it so enjoyable. The action scenes are great, but so are the touching aspects of the series when you feel what the characters go through. The plot is well developed and surprising, and even though sometimes you can predict what happens in the end, the end doesn't justify the means: the process to reach the end is definitely most surprising and astounding, and it's something that you can't predict.
There are no boring parts, in my opinion. In some of the other great series I've read, there are times especially in between arcs where it completely bores me or lacks any flavor at all. But in D.gray-man, even non-action parts are exciting and humorous, and rather than a "now what?" pause in between arcs it's more of a time for a sigh of contentment.
The anime sticks close the storyline of the manga, and the animation and colors are also great. Overall, it's a manga that anyone would definitely not put down.

Storyline: it's quite original, as it mostly revolves around a power source called "Innocence" & also involves goth-looking Akuma. the plot is quite compelling & somewhat complex, but it drags on after a while & you'll soon realise that most of the chapters are spent on fighting & more fighting. the setting of the entire story is what makes this series different, it's a cross between Medieval & Modern England; I commend the mangaka for that.

Characters: Just like all Shounen manga, there's an array of characters in this series. The male protagonist, Allen Walker, is quite admirable because you can see how he develops in personality and strength. I can actually witness how he's also looking a whole lot more mature & well-built as the chapters progress. However, he can be a little naive & stupid, but then most mangaka like to create their heroes that way (I don't know why either). The rest of the cast are all right (the "Chosen" ones that the story centers on are Allen, Kanda, Lavi, Linali, Crow & Miranda), but nobody really stands out, except maybe Crow & Lavi. & to be honest, I find Miranda way cooler than Linali, not to mention more tolerable too. The woman just transformed into a vision of beauty; I think the mangaka should give her more credit, rather than just focusing on Linali.

Artwork: Very gothic and dark, which is awesome to see. The art & graphics also improve as you continue reading each volume. It's a fabulous sight for me so far.

Negatives: Linali/Linalee (whatever). She's reduced to a pathetic crybaby who's sheltered and fawned over by practically every male character she meets now. Seriously, can someone return the poor girl's dignity? I try to ignore her existence unless I really have no other choice.

Conclusion: A great series worth the read, but could also be improved on here & there.

D-gray is going great. My second Shonen manga after Bleach and it's going really nice. Like many people here, I like the fact that battles and fights at least don't stay on scene for too many chapters. While Bleach is proceeding at its super slow pace, D-gray is filling in fair good for me. But I hope Mangaka leads this manga to a conclusion. I really want a concluded story of this. Not like never ending Inuysha

It has an extremely weird concept and story Background which is not only medieval + modern but also slightly gruesome.... when it comes to that; it lightens up with expert jokes and comedy which are absolutely adorable. Mangaka has a great taste in my opinion. Only one issue that I hate is Leenalee's current dressing.... what, can't she wear something a little something more decent? I know regarding her abilities it is that way but still, since "uniforms" have some important regards in this story, for Leenalee, it should unique and fabulous.

Anyways, All in all, it's a good Shonen treat.

While Bleach was in its super long lasting battles and the basically last 20 chapters of Naruto was all about the emo brothers, i was looking for a new manga to fit my tastes, I've seen and heard about D gray man all over the internet and stuff, but stupidly didnt have any interest, UNTIL a friend told me to look at a youtube of this cool chinese cosplay of the characters. And i thought well, I'll read the first couple of chapters. By the first couple of chapters, I was already drawn and locked in. I can't believe i never thought to even look at it! The only downfall is the names change a little form scanlator to scanlator, and the fighting arcs are gain power god, evil stronger, fall, gail power, god, and so on, but a, as long as Allen is there who cares?! The anime is great too. Not that filler stuff, but i like how it sticks to the plot and great opening songs.
