Masterpiece

One of the first manga that I read, and I still love it. It takes the classic good girl, bad boy formula and really fleshes it out. Yes, it has drama, but it doesn't read like the mangaka just stuck it in there to continue the storyline. The whole plot is tightly woven, and the art is beautiful.

Highly recommended.

Well,I love this manga. My number one manga ;] Its not a manga with the big cute round glittering eyes,or the kawaii fan girls or anything.Sure, its the good-girl-hearts-with-bad-boy,but.! It has more depth to it.It can make you cry, laugh and smile. This manga really makes you think about life. Its not those little light-hearted ones where they make you sad a little bit and next thing you know, the series is done.its not like those other shoujos where you read it one day,and then the next day you forget. Its DIFFERENT.Its unique cuz it leaves an impact.Very true to life. The characters have flaws but are still great throughout the series. And my gawd, the art is GORGEOUS. So to me,this is series gets an A++ Definately my most favorite manga ;]

So far, I haven't completed the series yet.

But I have a pretty good idea of what to expect, and judging from this manga-ka's other works, it'll be pretty interesting.

I like this manga-ka's psychological dramas. They're usually well-written without getting too close to psychotic. And in Mars, she weaves a lovely romance into the mix, bringing about something that is both fascinating and surprising.

I can't say that this manga really changed anything about me, and it's not even one of my favorite manga, but I think it'll leave an impression on me yet.

It's a classic, and who can reject those? :]

one of the top shoujo mangas out there

It was a beautiful story and is in fact one of the best shoujo out there. The characters were the best part of the story. Especially Rei, since he wasn't a stereotypical male lead. He actually had flaws like a real person. As for Kira, she tended to cry in every chapter(exaggerated) but at least it was substantial to the plot. There were a lot of ups and downs to story. At one part, I was impressed. Then at the next part I was pissed. And then it redeemed itself at the end. It was basically like a rollercoaster of emotions to me. Overall, excellent story worth reading.

It's a beautiful story AND it has beautiful art. Usually shoujo mangas are so light and happy and annoyingly silly, but this one is dark and mature. I loved the psychological stuff behind the romance. Even though you see stories about a good-girl-who-falls-in-love-with-a-bad-guy everyday, this one is different. Great depth. Rei and Kira's love for each other is really intense. Plus, I loved loved loved the ending, it nearly made me cry.

Wow... just Wow...

I just finished reading this, and God, its masterfully done. Defiantly the best not-comedy shojo out there. You just can't compare it to other "great" shojos, because it blows them all away. Its a class of its own, and the very highest. Giving it even a 10/10 seems to be insulting it.

It is a little dramatic, but at the same time, its so realistic, although fake at the same time. The way it centers around the two main characters so heavily is amazing; it puts new meaning on the feeling we humans have, that the whole world revolves around us.

This is the manga that made me love manga. Rei and Kira are realistic (as are the people around them). Yes, there is a bit of drama--but the good kind; it's not melodrama.

Spoiler (highlight to view)
Kira's reaction to being raped by her stepfather is incredibly realistic, as well. She seems to almost disassociate herself from her peers. I also love the symmetry of how her first sexual experience with someone she loves seems to bring her out of that disassociative state.

I absolutely love this series! And, while, yes, it had plenty of drama, I agree with the comments about how the serious storylines were balanced out nicely by some very light-hearted, funny moments. Overall, the completed series left me feeling very satisfied and content.
