first of all hi everybody!! i used BU for a while, but i recently registered. i live in dracula's country... it's a shitty place dead not only dracula sucks your blood, people too bigrazz
i started liking manga 2 years ago i think. by the way i read in a magazine that in Japan people buy more manga than toilet paper laugh i would like to visit Japan some day, i find the culture very interesting and i decided to learn japanese biggrin it's kind of hard but it's worth learning

ok enough about that, back to dreams. i mean the ones while you're sleeping. like really weird or funny ones or if you had a dream that came true. and what do you think: do dreams have any meaning or related to conscious or our secret desires?

i'm quite interested in these things. i had a few strange dreams. i once dreamed that i died. i saw my spirit leave my body and then came back. i dreamed many times that i was flying and such or wanted to fly but couldn't because something wouldn't let me. and many other ones.

some friend of mine dreamed he was an owl, he flew and bumped into the eiffel tower laugh

oh and lastly you're all great and interesting. i didn't think that forums can be so entertaining and so many different people gather here and have so many to say. i recently read the scary ghost stories you posted. i still got the chills none

Since you are 17, I guess it's ok to tell you.

"Flying, for instance, could be in one case the symbolic expression of any number of unconscious desires, such as the wish to transcend all limitation, or as Freud would suggest, the wish to engage in sexual activity. While in another case, it might be merely the most convenient mode of travel available to the dreamer who wants to move from one place to another within the dream world."

Basically, Freud said dream of flying indicate one's inner desire for sexual liberation.

Don't worry though, most of Freud's dream theories are considered outdated and inaccurate by modern psychiatrists. But he's still the father of moder psychology.

Does anybody ever get sleep paralysis? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis

I get is sometimes and I feel like I can't move and someone is in my room and they gonna get me. When I sleep with my bedroom door open it happens every time. I'm usually dreaming and then suddenly snap awake, but then I can't move, and I can see someone standing there out of the corner of my eye. It's really scary, and I can't usually go back to sleep for a while after it happens. It happens to a lot of differnt people but no one knows why. eek

Not sure if it's a dream or reality, but it bugs me none the less.

that probably happens to you between the period where you are about to fall asleep but not completely. somehow, you are still conscious and perceives the outside environment in a half reality and half dream state. You don't have to worry, as we all know, you can't get scared to death in your dream.

i've had it happen to me. not a person in my room but just not being able to move when awake. usually i can wiggly my feet a touch it seems like it- i don't think it is past a minute twitch though in reality. eventually if i keep trying i "wake" up and can move around. but going back to sleep then freaks me out.

actually a week or two ago i did have an experience, it wasn't a "person" though. i sleep on my stomach a lot. anywho i was semi awake and looked to the right and saw what looked to be a wolfish head. couldn't make it out all the way. bare with me here. at this time i couldn't move my body like i wanted. i turned my head into the bed since i was freaked out and couldn't move my legs. right after that i felt the bed move. you know how when someone is standing on it while you are lying down? it was like that but it was at four spots as if a dog or the like was actually above me. to top it off i had that feeling that someone was behind me. you know how sometimes you have your eyes closed but you can tell that someone is right in front of you? needless to say when i could move again the pressure from the bed went away. i had that heart jump feeling when i could finally move also.

i'd like to not believe the facts about sleep, rem and hallucinations. It felt too real and close to home to be fake

I have nightmares pretty much every night, and also sleep paralysis most of the time.

You learn to live with it.

still. it can be pretty freaky. not being able to move while awake is a scary feeling.

other that weird times like when i have that sleep paralysis i don't really remember my dreams to well. don't you supposedly have multiple dreams during the night though?

I had this posted on my "Weird and Paranormal" thread but here it is again.

While on the subject of dreams, I tend to get waking dreams a lot. They range from interesting to annoying.

There was this one time I "awoke" to find a black vortex had appeared over my head I tried sticking my hand into it and it felt warm and had this "static" feeling around it (best I could describe it). I started blacking out but struggled to stay awake...then I woke up.

This one happens more often. I wake up and go about my daily routine only to black out in the middle and find myself back in bed (I remember what happened before and is usually annoyed.), then repeat 1- 6 times (by the 4th time I'm really pissed) only to really wake up at the end and find it's all just a dream.
