How do forums concerning one way of life always involve religion and ethics and the human race as a whole.

People are different, that's how we have evolved. If you believe that eating meat is the right thing to do, then eat meat. If you believe eating meat is the wrong thing to do, then don't eat meat. But please, for whatever god you believe in, don't force your opinion on others.

Especially with stupid comments like "your logic is flawed" or "if you blah blah blah, than you blah blah blah" or "the "state your "holy" book here" says you should...".

There is no reason we all can't agree to disagree, or better yet have the discussion in private.

And please don't bash others for expressing their opinion!

And what is your brilliant opinion that is not baseless? the usual we have been eating meat all trough history and what? we certanly cant change yea Im with you, evolving our sense of empathy and sympathy is fucking stupid right? And when it comes to things we have always done its all good right? Man what if people would stop murdering, raping and raging war? shit the world would suck so bad. Or is it the even more brilliant, people cant live without meat? I guess im a bigtime motha fn zombie then 17 years without meat IT CANT BE DONE; I MUST BE CRAZY. PLEASE ... let me hear your properly based oppinion. Also please tell me why people are so fucking thretened by a choice to have as little as possible to do with a industry (most people who got a little insight in would find despicable) If you could .Reading this stupid thread its quite obvious who is trying to change who and wich side is more laid back. I dont give a fuck what you eat I sleep well at night knowing i do the best i can to live by my ideals. And also lets say it like it is you eat meat cause you like it or are plain lazy dont pretend its an actuall lifechoice with thought to it, its okay to admit.

Why are you so angry? I didn't said anything about my diet, or my opinions and beliefs regarding mine or anyone else's. Do you need to make up such opinions just so you can dismiss them and feel that you yourself are right? I'm not expecting proper spelling from you but at least stop writing inside quote tags.

Quote from nemuko
Comparing animals to plant is as fucking dumb as comparing a pig to a human, or actually even dumber sense both pigs and humans are animals. Get your head examined as soon as possible for your own good!

My head is just fine. But you should follow your own advice—perhaps they've discovered a cure for stupidity. The wheel is turning but the hamster is dead. Okay I'm not serious, but I hope to see the day when people learn to think outside the box and not take everything at face value.

Quote from nailq
Is it? I kinda always do thing on my own pace, but i respect what other people think as well.
What's wrong if i just don't want to kill animals? What i do is my own business right? I don't mean to force my way of thinking on anyone, so you don't have to be offended to it.Will you stop eating meats if i tell you not to? If you will, i'll spare your poor innocent plants, deal? cool

I never said anything is wrong with what you think about it. In fact, I said nothing is wrong with it. How do you feel about eating meat of animals that had to be put down because of old age or disability (e.g. the case with horse meat in many countries)?

I know that I've read this topic before, but I can't remember if I've posted before...

So, I am a carnivore myself. I will eat a vegetarian meal every once in a while. It's not like I feel like I have to eat animal flesh at all times or anything, but I'm not planning on stopping unless it's for some smoking hot granola girl (I mean smoking hot!!..a twelve at least*).

I am torn about vegetarians honestly. I have seen a lot of people who just decide that they will be vegetarians (mostly college age). They give up meat and eat vegetables, and that is all they do. They don't do any kind of research on their nutrition, they just assume that vegetables are healthy, so eating nothing but vegetables has to be good for you. This is not true by the way. There are nutrients that the human body needs that plants do not supply. I've seen a few who started losing hair, skin turned yellowish, stuff like that. Not really the road you want to take.

On the other hand, I know several older people (60's plus) who have gone vegan because their doctors recommended it to lower cholesterol, lower blood sugar, etc. These people have done their homework. They have learned as much as they can to find out what they need to do to supplement their new diets.

I know that it is a healthy alternative. Plus, if you are against the slaughtering of animals, then it's a good choice. Personally, I love animals. I have even watched those slaughter house videos (from real slaughter houses) for school, and I still eat meat. Yes, it took a couple of weeks to get over the initial shock, but I went back. I know that da Vinci was a vegan and so were the Pythagoreans, but I don't see how not eating pork will help me with my math.

*for any women who do not know, we judge you based on your looks and personality, mostly looks, and give you a score from one to ten usually. I've never given anything above and 8.7 (would have been a 9, but she was really stupid). However, I do believe that there is that one girl who has the whole package that will be getting a score of 15. A man can dream right?

Never eaten horse meat in my whole life and isn't that too troublesome to find that kind of animal meat like you mentioned?
Well, i guess i'll keep digging my salad bowl since meat had never been my favourite dish laugh

and what's wrong with that? don't you think eating that horse meat is much humanistic than burying it into the ground so that it'll rot and be eaten by maggots? Eating that horse meat means that you're putting every part of the horse into use. to that its sacrifice is not in vain. (bit of native american belief right there)

same goes with dogs

I would eat that horse any day than factory-farmed chickens.

Oh my God... when I saw this topic my stomach immediately twisted because it made me remember all the horrible times I've had when people ask me why I'm vegan and thus try to get me to "come to the light" by eating meat.
So I am vegan... and really, it's not hard. It was harder becoming vegetarian from when I did eat meat, but in the end I do not regret my decision in the least. My taste buds have become more sensitive, I don't feel bloated and I have a lot more energy. That being said, I didn't become vegan for merely health reasons, in fact it was mostly ethical. The meat industry in America is... pretty fucked up. If dogs and cats were treated the way pigs and cows and chickens are, then it'd be animal cruelty, but since those animals are going to end up in people's stomachs, it's cheaper and more convenient to treat them like shit. I believe that it would be better if people actually hunted their meat... A full grown elk can last a small family for a year, and it's lived it's life naturally. The tiny boxes that these farm animals live in makes it impossible for these animals to live a good life. Fourteen pounds of grain go into making one pound of meat. A pound of meat will maybe last a family a week or a little bit more while a pound of grain can last for several weeks.I'm not saying people should stop eating meat, but I think they should stop buying from the factory farms that are not good for people's health, the economy and the environment. I'm not one of those vegans who believe that people are natural vegetarians but I don't believe the modern day and age we live in calls for so much meat. Back in the days of hunter gatherer societies, people needed meat because their life style required vast amounts of energy just to find shelter. I hope I don't sound preachy, because I'm not trying to force anyone into not eating meat. People ask me why I am vegan and get defensive when I tell them, because yes, in my opinion that has just as much bias and preconceived notions as anyone else's, I think it would be nice if people stopped eating products of the meat industry. Or at least make people think-even if they decide on the steak afterward.

I respect vegetarians, it's a personal choice and an admirable one, but I have no interest in becoming a vegetarian and I don't think it's necessary for anyone to give up meat entirely. For many people eliminating meat from their diet is completely unthinkable and they won't consider it at all. It's too drastic. I think if you are going to push that agenda you need to encourage people to eat less meat and switch what meat they do eat to meat that is produced through ethically responsible methods and that is more environmentally friendly and eco-efficient (i.e. eating chicken instead of beef). If consumers all move to buying meat like that, it will put pressure on the food industry to change without anyone having to give up meat completely.

Nah, we didn't come to the top of the food chain to eat only fruit and vegetables imo.

I don't have anything against vegetarians, but I would never become one. To each his own, I guess.

Well... Maybe I phrased it clumsily, but I think you got my point. I could say the same, we can eat tiger meat, right?

I don't think you quite understand the concept of a food chain...

Edit: Also, fishing can still easily be seen as cruel to the fish... trapping fish in nets/tricking them into eating a huge hook that gets lodged in their mouths, taking them out their natural habitat and killing them? How can that not be considered cruel?

i'm not a vegetarian
but i HATE chicken
i find it really disgusting and mind wrecking to eat chicken because i cant help but imagine the chicken being killed.(i think this happens because the veins are obvious and clear in chickens...even after cooking you can still see the veins...somehow i find it revolting) same goes for livers...i dont understand how people can eat livers without being disgusted
i dont have this problem with meat though.i LOVE meat.

Because they taste awesome imo. biggrin Honestly, I don't think that much about my food. Like I said in the other topic, if it'll fill my stomach, it's all good.
